If you want to get started creating video content but you think you don't have the tools to do it, think again. You might already have a high quality camera sitting in your pocket. Your iPhone. You can get started creating videos with just your smartphone in a few simple steps. First, set up your phone to record. Make sure you have enough storage space on your phone by backing up your phone's content and deleting unnecessary files and apps. Then put your phone in do not disturb mode so pesky notifications don't interrupt your filming. Your iPhone has a great camera already, but just a few simple touches will make your video look like it was filmed by a Hollywood crew. First, use a tripod and keep your camera steady while you're filming. Don't film your video with unflattering overhead lighting. Instead, light your video from a few different angles around the room. If possible, film in a room with natural light to give your subjects a nice glow. Make sure you film with the microphone to minimize any ambient background noise that could be distracting. You can use a big mic setup like this one, or you can get a smaller one that plugs into your iPhone's headphone jack. Make sure you film your video horizontally instead of vertically. That way the video will auto adjust according to whatever screen the viewer is watching it on. Don't use your iPhone's zoom feature. It'll just make your videos blurry. Instead, move your tripod closer to what you're filming. Lock your camera's exposure to prevent it from going out of focus by holding your finger on the screen until a yellow box and AE AF lock appears. You're done filming now, so it's time to edit. You can use the software as easy as imovie to edit your video, add a soundtrack and subtitles, and more. That's a wrap. You're ready to go. We'll be back with more tips for video editing soon.
