In this video, I'm going to share some of the top marketing strategies that you need to follow if you're a small business owner and want to grow fast. I also spoke with a HubSpot marketing strategy expert to uncover what top marketing strategies he's seen small businesses use to grow, and I'll be sharing all of that info in today's video as well. So before you can actually start doing anything to grow your business, you need to have a clear understanding of who your demographic is, who's your audience, what do they do, and how is your business going to help and serve them. Once you've shifted your focus from how can I sell my product to how can I solve my customer's problem, creating a marketing strategy becomes a whole lot easier. I want you to think about all the times that you had a problem and went to the Internet to find a solution. At the beginning, you weren't necessarily looking for a product, but you might have ended up stumbling on one because the information that you found led you to it. The other day I realized that my car's leather seats were starting to have an extra leathery odor, so I ended up googling how to get rid of it. Long story short, I went to Google for information on this problem and left ordering a leather seat spray that I had no intention of finding or buying at first. That's the beginning of creating a successful marketing strategy. Understand your customers pain points, then provide your product as the solution. A big mistake that a lot of small and even large businesses make is focusing too much on the product feature and less on how it can actually solve the customer's problems. Once you master knowing what your ideal customer's true problem is, you'll be able to position your product or brand as the solution. The next step is going to be creating targeted content. A successful marketing strategy is all about targeted creativity. You can't just spam any and everyone and expect a huge return on your investment. Instead, create content and then use different methods of targeting to reach your audience. So if you're launching a new campaign on social media, use Facebook ads or Instagram ads to get your content in front of the right people. You can target your desired audience based on location, interests, age, and many other factors. I actually got to chat with HubSpot marketing expert Justin Gracie to dig into what marketing methods he has seen benefit small businesses the most. He mentioned that small businesses who focus on local search optimization, slash marketing, how to YouTube videos and Instagram ads will achieve their goals faster. We live in a digital world and it's just a simple fact that your business needs a social media presence. This is an essential part of your business's marketing strategy. And we have so many other videos on social media marketing, so make sure to check out our Social Media Strategies for Business playlist if you don't know where to start. Social media isn't the only way to get content in front of your customers though. Another great way is by building an email list and then sending out a weekly newsletter. This is something you definitely want to build early on and be consistent with. Building an email list is so important because it's the best way to build a deeper relationship with your customers. They want to hear from you more than you realize. Many brands build their audiences on social media platforms, which is still a great thing to do, but you don't own those platforms, so if they ever disappeared, so would your audience. With an email list, you have control over how often you can talk to your audience versus your content. Only reaching a Small Group of Followers because of the social media algorithms, it can be a bit tricky to get people to sign up for your newsletter because no one really likes to give out their email for free. So you want to make sure that you're offering something of value in exchange for their email address. Here's a real example. I have a link in the description box below to a marketing plan template. This template was created by HubSpot experts to help you build your marketing strategy from the ground up. This is something I think every small business owner needs to download because it's like the ultimate cheat sheet on things like SEO, ad creation, measuring analytics and so much more. So you'll see on page 17. It walks you through exactly how to run an on page SEO audit so that you can see how SEO friendly your website is overall. If you Skip to page 27, it breaks down the best ways to stay in touch with your audience via email marketing, like exclusive offers, reminders and newsletters, which I'll be talking about more in just a minute. Some of the most successful companies use the tips and checklists from this template, so make sure to download it to make your digital marketing strategies a little bit easier. Now, because you're getting so much value from this template and it's free, you're going to be more willing to enter in your email. But imagine if you weren't getting anything in exchange, there would be no reason you'd want to give out your email address, so make sure that you have something of value ready to share when you're building your email list. Once your list starts growing, you have to consistently send out emails so that people don't forget about you. A weekly newsletter can include things like sales, exclusive content, or helpful information on a specific topic or pain point. If you're taking notes, make sure you write down that you're not, I repeat, not pushing your products in these weekly newsletters. You just want to strategically sprinkle them in. This brings me to the final part of a successful strategy for your small business and that is having an actual website or landing page for customers who want to purchase your products. This was Another point that HubSpot expert Justin Gracie mentioned. He stated that many small businesses don't put enough focus or value behind their website, which should really be viewed as their number one salesperson. It's worth the investment. I couldn't agree more. And it's also important to mention that websites can be improved over time. The key is to just start and have one ready to go before you begin running ads or building your email list. A website will help your customers find useful information about your business. It showcases your brand, increases your credibility, and of course increases your chances of getting leads. Your website is live 247 so sales can be happening at any hour of the day for your business. As your organic traffic starts to increase, you may even begin showing up in Google search results if you have an SEO optimized website. I have a video all about SEO and ranking your website on Google so I'll have it linked down below if you guys want to check it out. Alright, so if you're a small business owner, here are the three strategies takeaways that I hope hope you got from this video. Number one figure out who your audience is and then put out targeted content and run ads on social media. Number two build up your email list by giving your customers something of value first before asking for their email address. And number three, have a good website up and running so that your existing and new customers have a place to go to for any information they need about your business.
