Creative on social media is a cornerstone of brand building Today. Creative on social media is where you engage, sell and solve. It's where brands today are built. But it's also often expensive and time consuming. So how do you justify your spending when you have a tight budget? Let's talk about how you can make your content marketing machine do more for less. Less cost, less time and less. Oh, we were supposed to do that yesterday. Did, did we send that out? You want to spend more time developing great content that enhances your brand while knowing it's being shared far and wide, right? Okay, so let's see how you can fire up your content marketing machine. Number one, you need quality content on repeat to win authority online nowadays, you need two things, consistency and content that's packed with value for your audience. One of the best ways to start building your plan is establishing topics of authority and channels you want to share in. You can build a content matrix that maps out what you'll be talking about and how you'll frame each piece of content. That way, when it comes to the creation process, you've already laid out the themes, topics and formats you can use and can jump straight into making content your audience will love. Let's say you're an online retailer who sells rare and one off pairs of shoes. How do you set the parameters around the kinds of content you want to make and that your buyers will find valuable? First, you need to lay out your areas of expertise, the things you can share that'll improve your audience's knowledge about buying rare shoes. For example, you may have a lot to say about shoe maintenance, checking authenticity, how to value appropriately, what's in style now, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera. These are all things that you know about and that a buyer will likely want to learn more about. Check. Once you establish these domains of authority, you can lay out how you want to explore them. Let's take shoe maintenance. What's the most valuable approach to helping your audience understand how to take care of their new shoes? As the subject matter expert, you should figure out the most appropriate ways to distill that information. That could be myth busting, how to's, how not to's, and listing the best products. As you populate your content matrix with different topics and formats, you'll find yourself with a resource packed with value for your audience, and that reduces the time you need to spend noodling on new ideas. Oh, and a content matrix is also really useful for keeping your resources in check. Laying everything out will make sure your ambitions fit with what's actually available to you. And if there's anything that makes senior stakeholders go weak at the knees, it's doing more for less. So you've now established the content buckets that will inform your creation process. Let's take a look at how you can share that content far, wide and easily. Number two Think small Valuable content often has a long shelf life. If you've ever said something worth sharing, you need to get it in front of as many people as possible. You need to develop content that can be repurposed and can the best way is to create long form content. I'm talking about videos, blogs, LinkedIn posts, Insta captions or podcasts that you can break down into micro content. There are three big reasons why you should do this. One, it's resource efficient, meaning you'll cover way more ground with way less effort. Two, it boosts relevancy. Sharing content that's optimized for multiple platforms and formats gives you a much better chance of putting super relevant content in front of a particular audience segment. And three it creates built in amplification. Spreading your idea helps envelop your audience. Micro content gives you that sense of omnipresence and credibility that you're a serious player, which you are, and that you have something to say that's valuable, which you do. So why do you need to start with long form content? Why not go straight to micro? Because long form builds up trust faster. It's more comprehensive, the consumer spends more time with you and builds up that initial level of trust that you need to continue engaging with them. And you probably only need one or two big rich content pieces to create the micro content you need. If you don't have a ton of resources like a video editor, social media manager, content writer, etc. You likely don't have the time to create loads of micro content. So create bigger chunks. Just make sure that they're packed with value. And finally, number three and my personal favorite, work smarter, not harder. Micro content saves time versus entirely new content from scratch. Oh, and if you need help planning when you do this, you ease the burden of having to constantly post new material. And you don't need to have 1,000 content ideas every single week. For example, you can screenshot tweets that can then be used as Instagram carousels. Take podcast snippets or YouTube clips and turn them into Instagram reels. Create chapter markers on YouTube videos so people can see what gets talked about and where. Then turn these into YouTube shorts, TikToks, and Instagram clips. You can build compilation videos by splicing together micro content that's thematically aligned. See, that's not so hard, right? You can then use the time you save to create native content. Platforms like Instagram and TikTok prefer content created on their apps. Native content is also a prime opportunity opportunity to capitalize on trends, which can lead to huge spikes in engagement. There's no denying that building a powerful content marketing machine takes effort when it comes to execution. You need to figure out how to do more with less, and you need free time to develop the prime cut content. You'll need to add value to your brand perception. If you follow these steps, you'll direct your efforts into the areas that really move the dialogue. You'll produce high quality content, share it with as large of an audience as possible, and consistently repeat the process. You'll reap the rewards over time and before you know it, you'll be churning out valuable content for a growing audience that's hungry, hungry, hungry for more.
