One of the most important parts of anyone's LinkedIn profile, and something people have the hardest time with, is the summary. That is the about section of your profile. That's why I'm here to help you write a compelling summary that will make you stand out from the crowd so that you can get seen, get hired, or land clients. What's up? It's Jamal and welcome back to the channel. You might be asking, why is the LinkedIn summary so important? Isn't my work experience, skills and recommendations enough? These are obviously important, but your summary is a chance to show potential recruiters, clients and colleagues who you really are by highlighting things about yourself that might not be apparent in your profile. There are four elements every summary should have. The first is what I call inspiration. Inspiration can come from a personal story, a narrative about your professional journey, or just a statement of your passions and curiosities. Help the reader understand why you chose your career path and the gratification that keeps you in your chosen vocation. For example, this software developer expresses her personal passion for coding in a way you'd never see in a resume. After inspiration comes expertise. Speak to the aspects of your work that excite you the most or that you have the most proficiency in. This is a really great way to get recruiters attention without spelling out your interest in finding new work, which is important if you don't want your current boss to know that you're looking An SEO marketer might write I love applying my skills in SEO to help B2B companies drive organic traffic through keywords. That's basically LinkedIn recruiter talk for I'm looking for a job with a B2B company where I can use my skills in SEO to drive organic traffic through keywords. Next, you want to prove your expertise by giving some specific examples of how you use those skills and how those efforts benefited your organization. Numbers are a great way to qualify your achievements. For example, if I were updating my LinkedIn summary, I would be sure to write host of HubSpot's YouTube channel watch more than half a million times. You can also include something personal, like a digital marketer calling out the number of personal Twitter followers she has. This shows an ability to grow a social media following and a personal investment in the work. I call this Solutions because the point is to make the reader feel as though you can help them solve whatever it is that brought them to your profile in the first place. This is particularly important if you're using LinkedIn to drive sales leads.
