INBOUND 2013 - The Marketerette

Transcript of a short, humorous marketing-themed sketch presented like a reality TV show. Speakers (Dan Salley, Brooks Forster, and a speaker labeled 'Speaker B') narrate dating-show style interactions as metaphors for marketing tactics, emphasizing personalization, listening, and perceived value. The piece culminates in a ‘final rose’ decision that favors Brooks for his attentive approach.

Hi, my name is Dan Salley, and I'm super excited to be on the marketer at what's my story? Well, let's just say my response rate has been questionable. I've had a lot of people shut me out, but, you know, I've done a lot of soul searching, and I really feel I'm here for the right reasons. When I first found out Mike was a marketer at, I was so excited.
It's about my journey and about finding someone who really understands me and knows.
Where I'm at in my journey and.
Knows how to interact with me in the right way.
You know, I felt we'd have undeniable chemistry and I'd really be able to outshine the other guys.
Hello, my name is Brooks Forster, and my take on marketing is pretty simple. I treat others like I want to be treated. I try to find things that we share in common, build a real, genuine connection, a connection that lasts a lifetime. It's about being there for someone with the right things to say.
Brooks had something going for him, I guess, because week after week, Mike kept giving him a rose.
Oh, Mike. I knew he was the one from the second we met. I mean, look at him. He's a kind, nurturing soul.
He'd just sit there quietly listening while all of us were yelling for Mike's attention. He must have been providing value somehow, though, because when it came down to it, it was me and Brooksie boy at the final rose ceremony.
So I'm setting off in this new journey. I'm trying to find someone who's just there for me for the right reasons. It's not about them. It needs to be about me and us. I was having a bad day, and I tweeted something about it, and Brooks read the tweet and responded with something really nice that made a lot of sense. And Dan left me a voicemail. But it had nothing to do with the type of day I was having. It just didn't seem like he was giving a lot back. Brooks is a marketer's dream. It's just been so great to be with him and interact with him.
When Brooks got the final rose, I was devastated. Mike and I were on this long, fantastic journey together, and I just kept racking my brain trying to figure out, what could I have done differently here? How could things have. How could I have changed things?
I couldn't be happier that my journey led me right to Brooks. Ever since the first impression, my interactions with him have been more and more dynamic, more and more personalized, and he's really just all about helping me and being there when I need him.
So it turns out that if you listen to someone and give them what they need, and that's what drives engagement.
I don't know what I'm gonna do now. I don't know. I think I'm gonna send him a letter. A whole bunch of letters and a flyer under his wind.
