How To CARRY With WEAK Teammates - Jungle Fundamentals

Challenger jungler Perry Norman plays a game with losing lanes and shows how to scale, farm efficiently, and avoid bad fights. He covers pathing, itemization, vision, and objective timing to turn an early deficit into a mid-late game win.

Playing with weak lanes in the early game is one of the hardest things to do, but I'm going to show you guys the mindset, how to play the game, how to look and think about things so that you can still manage to win the game. Now the biggest thing to understand is when you have losing lanes, you have weak teammates, that generally means that they're going to be strong once they get their items. That's the first and the most important thing you guys have to understand, and it's what I'm going to show you guys here today, that I might not win the early game but I will have a strong chance of winning the game towards the mid-late portion. So we'll kind of just see this scale, get to 2 items, 3 items, and so on. Okay, if you guys don't know who I am, I'm Perry Norman. I've been coaching for the last 5 years. I've helped over 1,000 people get to their ranked goals, and I've been Challenger for around 6 years as well, getting rank 30 in Korea. That's one of my cool, cool, cool accomplishments. When it comes to playing with like teammates that are not that strong, you really have to make sure that all you're doing is avoiding the enemy jungler, one, and two, playing with all your camps cleared. If you can clear all your camps and you can avoid where the enemy jungler is, you will generally be able to make good plays. So the goal is not to do nothing, but the goal is to avoid taking 2v2s in the mid lane, taking 2v2s in the bot lane, or 3v3s in the bot lane, and then like 2v2s in the top lane. Because the enemy jungler is just a little bit stronger than me as a champion. It's a Shen. Their Sylas can be a little bit stronger than my TF in an actual skirmish. And then their bot lane, they have Ezreal Lux. We have Surfing Soda. You know, the classic NA bot lane duo. My mid laner has some decent conditions, so maybe we can play through my mid laner. Maybe. But not, not like, not very confident about that one. My bot lane is under their turrets as I expected, right? Losing lane. My top lane is under his turret as expected. So what I'm gonna do here is I'm gonna check to see if the enemy jungler is on the crab. And if he is, I'm gonna go to the top crab right away. If he's not, I'm gonna be able to grab this crab. Okay, we can chunk this guy out and then walk away here. Now the thing is, this bot crab, if depending on where he's, where he's pathing— because he pathed all the way to the bot lane, I got a nice little chunk on him and I can actually get this crab. I can kind of sneak this. Now I need to be careful of the Sylas. I'm going to actually walk through him. He shouldn't be able to beat me. And then what I'm going to do is I'm going to go to the top crab now. I can— oh wow, I, I got his bone plating though, at least. Okay, so because I had the jump on the Shen and he had to walk back and auto attack his little blue buff, I was able to get a massive, massive, massive play on him and I'm able to get 2 crabs in this game state. Now what we're going to do here is looking at top lane. Mundo is holding a wave. Shen is probably on the way though, so I need to be a little bit concerned, a little bit worried about this. He wants to trade a little bit more. Maybe not. I should try to tell him to, to be careful and leave. The problem here is the Shen. Likely wants to return towards the top side, and he could always mess with my Mundo and mess with me. And again, we don't— we want to avoid this shit. We know where the enemy jungler's pathing. The enemy jungler's pathing all the way towards the bot side, as am I. What I'm gonna do here is, like I said, guys, we're not really trying to make plays in the early game. We just want to farm. So I'm just going to clear my camps without recalling. After I clear all my camps, I'm then going to recall and then maybe look for a play away from the enemy jungler. The enemy jungler will very likely be on the bot side while I recall and then go towards the top side. Maybe we can kill the Olaf. Maybe. I don't know. He might be too much of a raid boss. Let's finish this. We'll E this wall so we're not getting caught, not getting spotted by the enemies. Clear this here. Shen has a double Ruby Crystal over me, so he has items. I have no items. Let's pull the Krugs all the way over here. I'm gonna kill the small one first as a guaranteed means of resources. Right, and then this guy comes. We try to pressure him out a bit. This guy just decided to get himself killed here. Okay, we get this kill here. Let's recall. I didn't have to do anything there, to be fair. That Shen just lost his mind. I'm gonna still— my game plan remains the same. Nothing has changed this game. Lowkey, Blade of the Ruined King seems fucking broken. I know it might be like, what are you talking about, Perry? Look, they have an Olaf, Shen, Sylas, all HP stackers, HP drainers. Blade of the Ruined King is just so good into that, so I'm gonna do it. Do I recommend it all the time? Eh, but specifically to deal with that Olaf, if I go for like a Blade of the Ruined King into crit, I'm gonna be able to like destroy them, I think. So the Shen has camps to farm here. My Sylas is trading decently. Mundo, like, top lane is war. So what I want to do is I want to either look mid or top lane. And in this case, their Olaf is 1 HP and he has to push this wave in. So because he has to push this wave in, I can go behind him and look for a kill on their Olaf. This guy might be a little hard to kill here, but if he uses his ulti instead of his W, he doesn't get a shield. And without that shield, I I could kill him and the game is chill. Like, the game is great. Now, nothing's changed, guys. Like, my bot lane is down 30 CS. My mid lane is like pretty even, but Sylas as a champion is a lot stronger than TF. And then my top laner is still not that strong at all. My mid laner is kind of putting in work on the Sylas though, so you can always think about that, how we can use that. But yeah, my bot lane is getting absolutely dumpstered. So we need to just understand that like Although we have 2 kills, this game is nowhere near like won at all. And that's the big thing about games where you have weak teammates is understanding like when are you actually strong? And that's when people get their completed items. They don't have them right now. So I need to just chill out, farm, be patient. We can buy Blade of the Ruined King in a second here. After the Blade of the Ruined King, I want to go for a little bit of a Collector into— honestly, we can go like LDR as well. TF should be able to kill this guy. If he needs to, he'll flash. He shouldn't have to though. The only issue is the Shen might use his ulti here. Ah, doesn't look like it. So again, the Shen was spotted running towards the bot side if you guys saw him, and he has bot camps. So if I'm gonna be in the bot side, generally speaking, the Shen will be in the bot side too. So what I'm gonna do is I'm gonna farm my camps as fast as I can, recall, and then go towards the top side and make plays up there. Let's buy the Blade of the Ruined King, and then honestly we can either go Blade of the Ruined King into damage or Blade of the Ruined King into like tanky. I'm gonna keep wards because wards kind of help us when we're behind— or not behind, we have weak laners. Uh, we need the extra information because our teammates can't really get information for us. I think going Sunderer's Sky this game is not bad. We do want some damage, but honestly we have a lot more sustain than them, and with our sustain we can probably win fights through that. See if the Sylas walks forward at all. Nope. Can investigate the camps. My Mundo is putting in— or that's Shen ulti, I think. So Shen ulted top lane, but the Mundo is 1 HP. I have an item over the Shen. Okay, the Shen's not coming. This is just ours. They didn't do the dragon either. Okay, it doesn't look like— doesn't look anything's happening on the map that we want to be a part of. We want to guarantee the objective and then go back to do camps and farm all the way down towards the bot side. After we get all of our camps clear, we're gonna go top lane, try to make a play, avoid the enemy jungler until we get much stronger than them, which is when we have all of our items. Like, all my teammates have their items too. Until my teammates get items, it doesn't feel too easy to make a lot of plays, especially in the bot side. Bot lane is like really miserable right now. If they're extremely overextended, maybe we can. Otherwise, it looks like we're just gonna, uh, farm, farm our camps naturally. Let's go for Sundered Sky. Now what we need to understand is with this build, we're not going to be dealing nearly as much damage as, you know, crit or Kraken, but we'll have that sustain in the fights and we will be able to utilize our Seraphine Sona and our CC from TF. We kind of need like consistent damage. And if I'm too squishy, I won't be able to do consistent damage. This build actually helps you deal a little bit more consistent damage. So the Olaf used ulti. I think he goes to 2. So we can definitely look to kill this guy. And again, Shen is probably bot lane right now. He has no ulti. So get this kill here. Beautiful. And we're still farming all of our camps, guys. It's not like we're not farming our camps. Now we can use the grubs to pressure plates. We have 30 seconds on our camps here, so we're just going to sit on this turret and crack it away. I'm going to save my, save my E to run away. Their Shen is still hitting the turret, or, or their Shen is still bot lane. So I can just keep cracking at this. Okay, and Shen is still bot lane, spotted here. So while Shen is still bot lane, what I wanna do— Olaf is spotted here. His top camps might be up, so let's look for his top camps now. We're gonna lose bot turret, which is completely understandable. And then their Olaf is going to disrespect here, it seems. I have Blade of the Ruined King, so I can definitely shred him. My Mundo has item too. My TF is doing great, by the way. And now we're gonna go back to our camps. My TF is playing great. He's getting a lot of picks with his ulti. My bot lane has lost the entire turret, by the way, at 10 minutes. He's lost the entire freaking bot turret. At the very least, we have a pretty strong mid laner. Now, I don't like having blue pet with this build, but honestly speaking, I wasn't really planning to do this build. I just sort of realized as I was playing, oh shit. Having green pet would have been so much nicer. Are my Krugs up? My Krugs are up. We have everything up. Beautiful. Let's full clear everything all the way down towards the bot side. Sylas is in the bot bush here. They probably have Shen R. I don't want to die here. Fortunately, the Sylas is just a little bit too strong. The big thing is it's not actually about dying, it's about losing my HP and then losing red buff. And again, like I said guys, like, it's not like the game is over or won for us. We're not that strong. Okay, I'm, I'm fed because I've been farming and finding good plays, but my teammates are still weak as fuck, so we can't really make plays like that. Okay, but what we can do is this Olaf is a little bit of a, like, a little bit of a Viking brain. Maybe we can kill the Viking. I just smited to kill him there at the end. Okay, the TF is very strong, so as much as we can, we do want to play with TF as well. The Shen has no ulti. Shen is bot lane right now. I bladed the rune key, so this guy should slowly get crushed here. The guys— the enemies are slowly losing their minds, by the way. And I have 3,000 gold right now, so what I want to do is I definitely want to get off the map and I want to look to reset. I have movespeed from the bushes, so we should be fine. Now let's look to recall here and restart everything. And after Sundered Sky, we can go for a little bit of like damage now. So we can go for a, not an LDR, but the anti-heal one, the Mortal Reminder. Now this Mortal Reminder is going to be huge because of Olaf healing and Shen healing. Sorry, I mean Shen healing actually, yeah. And then also, um, main one is like Sylas, Sylas, surely. Oh my God, I missed that Sundered Sky, baby! I'm not taking too much damage there. Let's walk away here. I don't want to really overstay on the map. Again, like, we are strong, but this game is like, we're still waiting for our teammates to really be strong. I kind of need like one more item advantage here for me to actually be relevant. Okay, we get this guy killed here. I have move speed as well. This guy should just be dead here. Beautiful. We don't need to— we don't need to chase the kill for too long. My Seraphine is dead again under turret, by the way. I'm going to ignore the mid lane, try to look for camps to invade, get me stronger. That's all I care about. Get the Herald too. The Drake might not be like worth the fight, in all honesty. No, no, no, too deep, too deep. Just chunking him for the turret. Holy shit, the Sona's tweaking out. What the fuck is Sona up to, bro? Sona's actually tweaking out. I guess the Sona got scared of Lux flash? Like, what the fuck? We're looking to chunk the enemies and apply pressure there. What you do in the mid-late game is you chunk enemies and try to take plates, try to take turrets, try to take camps. All I'm looking to do there is like, get the Olaf a little bit low, get him scared. But sometimes that kind of tricks your own teammates to like, get them all a little worked up and make them lose flash. Not the intention though. Okay, what I want to do here is drop the Herald mid lane cuz I'm almost at my item and I can't ping items right now, which is awful. My TF is also like sort of in the area. I sort of want to watch the, the TF. TF is not in the area, I lied. Oh Jesus, my TF decided to go bot lane instead of joining me in the top side. If TF was a better player, he would join me in the top lane and we would, we would absolutely win the game. But like, I should have just looked at the map and been like, oh wow, my Sylas— or my TF decided to not join me. Like, it's fine. But honestly, like, the Sylas getting a lot of gold there is not ideal. Now we do have our item. What we can look to buy now is like, I don't know, probably like a Death's Dance. But the Sylas, we want some like Merc Treads into Death's Dance, I feel. Merc Treads into Death's Dance feels good. Okay. Amundo's pressuring. My Sylas is still very, very, very fed, so play around him. Play for this Drake as well. My Mundo is not weak at all either. It's at this point in the game where my teammates have sort of scaled up, and these guys are also warding into us one by one. But yeah, it's at this point in the game where people are getting freaking strong. Let's take all their camps here, and let's go ahead and look for this Dragon afterwards. This TF is playing great. Now I would want to go for his Raptor camp, but that means I can't get the Dragon. And the Dragon is always the way to secure wins. So I may just go play for this because I want to play for Baron. What I'm going to do is I'm going to save my— I'm going to save my Smite, use it with my TF. TF is very strong. Look at this TF here. He has 10 Mejai stacks. He almost has RFC. He's playing beautifully. Bot lane is so useless here, guys. Look, they're 2-9, right? But we found— we found a Mundo to play with away from the enemy— enemy strength. And then we found another teammate that we can really play with, which is the Sylas. Oh, which is TF. Sorry, is he AFK? Might be AFK. Okay, we have to be careful here. He like, like DC there or something. Whenever Sylas is ready to like come back, he's teleporting bot lane. So we, we don't have a Sylas with us right now. We have to respect that. No Sylas is with us. No Sylas has seen us on the Rift. Can pressure here hard. Okay, we can hop this guy down. Beautiful. What the hell? This guy stayed on the map there to just die. My Seraphine has 2 items now. My Sona is getting stronger, she's scaling up. So at this point in the game, we can start working with them. And I have— I got his entire, like, protoplasm there because I have Blade of the Ruined King, which is an extra 3K damage this game. Okay, my Mundo just did Mundo things. Okay, that's his flash. So close. If I dodge the Ezreal ult, we can probably kill him there. But it's okay. I mean, TF doesn't have ulti, so otherwise TF would be able to come. But look at this, Seraphine, who's been losing all game, is actually able to clean the Ezreal who's— they're not that strong anymore. Ultimately. Look at them. Oh shit. Well. Yeah, look at this Seraphine. He's been like useless all game, but like, oh, we have 2 items now. Akali's healing 1500 damage. This is dealing 1k. Guy's useful. Damn, see, that's what League of Legends is about, guys. So giving your teammates time to get relevant into the game. Okay, we aced them. Now let's go for this. Oh, they FF. Well, what a great, great, great game. Avoiding the enemy jungler, avoiding the bot lane entirely, finding good plays for ourselves where we have a bit of strength, a bit of the lead. Guys, if you learned a thing or two about how to play with losing lanes in the early game you understand the thought process. Make sure to comment what you guys learned, leave a like, comment, subscribe, and I'll see you guys next time. Peace, peace.
