How To Setup Ganks SUCCESSFULLY

Perry Norman breaks down why ganks fail: you get spotted. Three fundamentals fix it: reading wave states so minions cover your approach, controlling vision so enemies can't see you coming, and tracking the enemy jungler to avoid walking into a 2v2.

It's not that your ganks don't work, it's the fact that you get spotted before you're even ranged and you don't even know it. In this clip, I'll give you the 3 fundamentals you can always use to have successful ganks in your games, with the 3rd fundamental being the most helpful. The first fundamental here we're going to apply is wave states. Rumble has to push these 3 minions and the next entire wave because Viktor can hold this wave here and stall 20 to 30 seconds. That means Rumble has to spend 20 to 30 seconds in the top side before he can safely recall. There's just a problem with my gank here though if I want to run straight to top lane. The problem is the second fundamental here, which is fog of war. As you can see, the Rumble has full information of me right here with the feylights. My sixth sense caught the ward, and I can't just run through topside here. If I run through topside, he'll see me, he'll back off. But what I can do is I can go ahead and walk all the way around and look for a really, really, really good gank here based off of wave states, based off fog of war. And there's one key fundamental that I really need to think about, and it's jungle tracking. If I don't know where the enemy jungler is and I go for this gank and the enemy jungler is in that top bush, we try to 2v2, we will lose because we're fighting in their wave. But I know for a fact that the enemy jungler is in the bot side. I saw him go for the bot crab. So this Rumble is stuck trying to go for the cannon minion, and he's like, okay, well, GG. I don't even know how Viego showed up here. My game is screwed. I get myself a nice juicy kill. Guys, if you found this helpful, follow for more jungle tips.
