Perry Norman teaches junglers how to read wave states and enemy laner intentions to land better ganks. He walks through a live example with Locke and Zac, showing how minion counts predict whether enemies will fight or retreat, then explains which jungle paths and timings work best. Most players skip this step and waste ganks.

I'm going to increase your League IQ by 100 after you watch this video. Most junglers have no idea how to gank, and I'm going to show you exactly how to properly gank, and it's all based off wave states and the lanes. So right here I'm watching this wave, and you can see that the Locke has more HP than the Zac, and the Locke is an assassin champion, so he's feeling himself. He wants to go in and he wants to fight. Either way here, whether Locke wants to kill the Zac or whether Locke wants to play chill, in order for him to chill out here, he needs to clear this wave. He has 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 minions for him to kill. Either way, he either kills his minions, recalls, or he goes to try to kill the Zac. He is going to either need to use spells on the wave, and if he does that, Zac can jump him and it's not going to be favorable for him, or he's going to need to use spells on the Zac, and if he does that, he's going to fight, and then after he fights, he still needs to push in this wave. Given where I am on the map, I am right in proximity of what's happening. I am looking to path here immediately, and I'm also going to try to communicate to my Zac, hey, I'm coming, and this is going to give me guaranteed free kill right here. So this Locke literally can't do anything. He's even going to try flashing away at the end, and I still get him killed no matter what here. A lot of you guys are making plays and ganks and you aren't evaluating the actual wave state. Not only that, you're not evaluating what the enemy laner is looking to do. It's not just, oh, enemy laner is low. It's not just, oh, he's, he's walked up too far. What it really depends— what is the enemy laner trying to accomplish and do? Guys, follow for more jungle tips.
