Mechanics WON'T SAVE YOU! Debunking The Biggest Concept Everyone Gets Wrong

Perry Norman explains why farming alone won't win League of Legends games. He breaks down the resource cycle: farm for gold, convert to items and levels, then use stats to fight. The key is reading the map and timing aggression with teammates, not just grinding minions.

Perry, I'm farming too much. I'm playing too safe. I'm too passive. I can never win games because I'm just farming the whole game. Please, guys, the amount of times I hear this just tells me that you guys aren't doing the right thing when you're playing the game. And I need to talk about this. I need you guys to fix this. And I need you guys to stop taking this advice and using it the wrong way. This is some chatters from earlier today. So many times I lose while having so many kills because I keep farming and I play too safe. Okay, another chatter says, the issue is, uh, the issue I have is when I am fed, I end up following the core principles properly. So they believe they're following the core principles but still end up losing. I just don't find any windows and I end up being too passive. Oh my goodness, the amount of people who are just like, Perry, you know, I think I'm losing because I'm just farming too much. Perry, like, I'm playing too passive. What that tells me is that they don't like— they're not paying attention. Maybe that's you. I hope it's not you, but maybe that's you. You're not paying attention. You're the kid in class who like thinks they understand what's happening, but like you don't understand what's happening. And I'm going to show you guys and explain what's really happening here and why people just completely don't get this concept whatsoever. And I just like, I cannot have so many people talking about this and being so wrong and so misunderstanding, misinformed. I need you guys to learn and you'll climb, you'll climb way more. I made a video on this pretty recently. This is 3 months ago. If you can never find good ganks, watch this video. How Jungle Teemo can be your biggest— I think it's like ally or help. And it says, please stop farming because like this video encompasses what it's like to farm and gank and make plays and actively do stuff on the map. You can't just farm all game and expect to win. Okay. Nobody's ever once asked that. But then Perry, what are you asking people to do? What are we playing for? What I'm asking you guys to do, like, why do I want you guys to farm? What's the point? The point is 3 things, 3 things really. One, your camps are guaranteed gold and EXP. Okay, now why is that so important? You need to use your gold to create items. You need items. Why do we need items? We need stats. What does EXP give us? EXP gives us stats because we level up. League of Legends is a fighting game. At the end of the day, we fight in League. So we want stats. Okay, so number one, stats and camps guarantee that. Number two, downtime. You're not going to be able to fight 24/7 in League of Legends. So let's say our stats are above them the entire game, but sometimes you don't have your ultimate. Maybe you're low, maybe you lost your flash, maybe your teammate is low. There's downtime in the game where you can't make a play. And the last one, it's follow-up to number 2: are there any plays? So the map state, let's say we, we, we, we are— our stats are perfect, we have perfect conditions, and we can make a play, but the enemies are under their turret. Let's, let's say, let's pretend we're red side. The enemies are under their turret, full HP. Leona, Leona, Seraphine, full HP, all their sums. Mid laners under their turret, full HP, has everything, like nobody's dying. No, nobody's making any mistakes. And the enemy jungler is perfectly defending every single play and he has no camps to invade. Okay, the map state does not allow for you to make any plays. So then you farm. But guys, by no means am I asking you to farm all game. This is when you're supposed to farm. When you have your items, you fight. When you have your ultimate, you fight. When your teammates need you to help Fight. You fight. Okay, League of Legends is all about fighting at the end of the day. You farm to guarantee resources to fight. Farm, resources, fight. Farm, resources, fight. And what happens is you do that in cycles. So you farm for a bit, you get resources, you level up, you get items, and then you fight. Some people are just so, so, so missing the point of why they farm. They don't understand that you need to fight at some point. So picture this, guys. I'm gonna delete this. Picture this. I'm little Tim here, and my— actually, I have a perfect example. I just remembered a perfect example in the game. So right now, if we look at this game state here, the score is great. The score is great. Look at the score. It's 9-21. We're hard winning. This— my entire team, I have TF, Sion, Ziggs, Bard. They're all playing aggressively. But guess what, guys? I have all my camps up. Do I farm them? Perry, I'm supposed to farm my camps, right? Shouldn't I go farm? Fuck no! Your entire team is playing aggressively right now, so what you need to do is also play aggressively right now. And that's why I push this whole top wave, and you know what ends up happening? Because I push this entire top wave, I get 2 extra waves, I get 1 plate, I force a teleport, and then— I kill myself. That's my— that's on me. I overstay. That's on me. But the idea is you need to make plays that are synced up to your teammates. I'm going to show you guys another example here of the exact same idea where my teammates are making plays and I need to stay on the map to make plays with them. So right now, look at the map state. Hold on. Give it a sec. I killed Zoe. Sure. Look at the map state here. So I'm trying to recall right now. To maybe like get to the bot side or something. And my Yone is teleporting bot lane. 0.6 seconds left on my recall. And I say, why? Because they're doing an active fight in the bot side. I need to actively stay on the map and create pressure and do something. And watch what happens when I do this. I don't farm my camps. Krugs are up, Raptors are up, Red Buff is up. Maybe even his like— his Raptors are up. I'm not farming shit, guys. I'm pressuring the enemies. And what that forces them to do is either respond to me or I get plates. And now that Ahri's responded to me, oh, well, look at that. My bot lane is— or my entire team has a numbers advantage. So let's go back to like what I'm talking about here. You need to match your plays with your teammates when applicable, when it makes sense. So you need to read the map state. You need to read your teammates. You need to have the right conditions. I'm not doing what you just saw me do if I didn't have my ultimate, I didn't have items, if I didn't have HP. I'm not doing that. That's dumb. Okay, so you farm when there's no plays to make and when you need to wait for your ultimate, when you need to wait for some HP to regen, or you need to recall for an item. That's when you farm. And then afterwards you look to make plays. So let's dive into another game here. It's the same game from earlier where I have my completed item and instead of farming camps, I'm going to skim through it. Give me a second. Blah, blah, blah, blah. Okay, right here, instead of farming camps, look at what I do. I'm skipping all of my camps. My entire team is strong right now. I have my item. I play for this top crab, okay? You can see me, I'm skipping through the game a little fast. I go for this top crab. I'm gonna go 2x speed here so you guys can see it a little quicker. Instead of farming, my Bard is in the top side, my TF is in the top side, we're strong, I have my item, I have ultimate, I have flash. We're fighting, we're fighting, we're fighting, we're fighting, okay? And guess what? Senna is overstepping. I'm gonna keep fighting. I'm not farming. I'm strong. I need to fight. My teammates are strong. I'm gonna fight. Boom, we get a Senna kill. It's not over yet. They keep making mistakes. We're gonna keep fighting. We're gonna keep fighting. Okay, cool. Guess what? I don't stop farming. I farm a little bit, right? 'Cause there's some downtime. There's no plays on the map. There's no plays on the map. Okay, I farm 2 camps, and then I'm like, wait, wait, wait. Look at what's happening bot lane. Wait, there's some fighting going on in the bot side. Maybe I should go there. Maybe I should, I should think about going there. Okay, I path down there. Whatever, my teammate dies. It is what it is. Okay, look at the Senna. Senna's walking up at my Bard. I drop the Gromp. I, I leave and I kill him and I go forward and I get a flash. And then, okay, no more play. Downtime. I go back to camps, recall, spend gold. Right now I don't see any plays on the map. Like, I'm trying to help with Irelia. No play. Or this side, no play. Okay, I'm gonna go farm then. Wait, look at the map. My Bard's ready to play, my TF's ready to play. Boom, we're gonna go make a play then. That's how the game plays, guys. I'm not just mindlessly farming camps. I like— right here, I want a Herald for gold. I want— I want to fight, I want to play aggressively, okay? I'm not just farming the entire game. So I, I like— please, like, if you guys want to come into my chat and like, like, for the thousandth time tell me, guys, I played too safe, or this— now this really frustrates me. I am following the core principles. They believe that they're doing things correctly. This is the hardest thing to see because that truly means that this player believes they're doing the right things to win the game when they really aren't. They're actually just hurting themselves. And I need you to— next time you come to my chat, please, please, like, have this video watched already, or I'm going to have this as a command because, oh my goodness, I want you guys to climb and you're not going to be climbing if you're not following this put like this basic understanding of why and when you should farm and when you shouldn't. So guys, if you found this helpful and, you know, you get some LP from this, or maybe you can finally understand how to play League of Legends a little better, do me a favor, leave a like, comment, subscribe. But also take a look at the Jungle Kingdom itself right now. We're making so many great changes, so many amazing things that are happening. Could take a look at your own score, um, you can take— you can add multiple accounts, um, and there's a lot, lot a lot of good stuff happening. It's my little baby project. I'm not gonna hardcore sell you on it just yet. Give me some time. But I love you guys. I'll see you next one. Peace, peace.
