Patch 25.22 Jungle Tier List 🌲| Champions to Play and Avoid

Perry Norman breaks down the jungle meta for patch 15.22, highlighting Volibear's nerfs and Skarner's buffs. He ranks champions by solo-queue viability, recommending easy-to-learn picks like Amumu, Nocturne, and Jarvan IV that carry games without needing your team.
Chapters
The only reason why I would emphasize Rek'Sai here on this tier list is because Rek'Sai is probably one of the most broken champions on the meta right now, like on the patch, if you can play decently mechanically. For some reason, this champion is just like— excels. And the reason why is because this champion is also really good into bruisers. Hey guys, it's Perry. Today I'm doing a Patch 15.22 tier list where I'm gonna be highlighting the champs that you should be playing and the champs that you should be completely avoiding if you want to play and win in solo queue. So we're going to have a massive emphasis on the champs that I truly believe are not worth for you to pick up. Truly believe that are like, you're just going to hinder your own climb, your own performance, especially if you're in between the Iron to Diamond range. Let's jump right in and let's talk about the first big change for 15.22. Uh, Skarner changes and there's Volibear changes. Alright, so the first change here is Volibear. Volibear gained 4 armor and 2 AD, some more top lane buffs like skirmishing buffs is good, but he lost 2% move speed, and then that means when you're running at someone you lose 4% at max rank Q. Volibear is already a really linear champion. The fact that you're making it even easier to dodge Volibear out makes this champion suffer even more. Like, Volibear is already so easy to counter, guys. And the fact that they're hitting his Q really, really sucks, especially for his ganks. Still be okay, but the big one here is his E, the E nerf. So the damage cap against non-champions, so against monsters, it's nerfed. You're pretty much losing around 100 damage per E, and then it's just like, it just feels awful. So here's the thing, some of you guys may be like, "Oh, it's not too much damage, like you lose a few seconds, 5-10 seconds." Guys, Volibear is not a good champion inherently. Um, the champion thrives off of having tempo advantages and being able to compete in terms of his fast clear speed. Now that he does not have a fast clear speed, this champion blows. It sucks. Now, would I put Volibear in the champs to avoid section? No. He's not an avoid champion. You can still play him, but I will say the champion's not gonna be as highly rated as I normally rate him. Like, probably like a B tier. Alright, the next champion we wanna talk about is Skarner. So Skarner got a bit of a change, like a rework. His AD growth's a bit higher. His bonus AD ratio on his Q, so he does more damage. His Q cooldown got even lowered. Um, like pretty much a lot of what's happening with, with Skarner is that he's gonna do way more damage. His E also deals more damage based on AD, and his R cast time got a little changed, so it takes a little longer to CC someone. So Skarner is gonna be a relevant tank, one of the more relevant guys now because of how much more damage he'll be doing. Uh, overall I think this is gonna be positive for the champion, but Would I recommend this champion? No. So even though this champion could arguably be A, maybe B tier, depends on how the patch goes. Maybe he's like S tier for a while. I don't recommend playing Skarner. Really, really straightforward. Like, the champion is just too— like, it's a tank, one. You're not learning how to power farm. You're playing through teammates. I'd rather you play Nunu, Amumu, Zac, uh, any of the— like, Udyr. Like, honestly, all those champions seem a little bit better than Skarner. Unless Skarner is like god tier, god tier, and he's like 55 win rate everywhere, I would say like, listen, just don't worry about that champion. Talon got a really minor nerf. This is like so pointless. It hurts Talon by a little bit. Talon is a champion that I would say you should also avoid in the lower elos. The reason for this is Generally speaking, assassins are more satisfying to play, but are way more difficult to play. You'll see as I build the list out that a lot of the champions I'm gonna recommend are not too difficult, likely bruisers, or likely have one key thing that just makes their champion so much better than every other— or makes them champions so much easier than every other champion in the game. Alright, let's jump into the actual list here. So I'm gonna just Right off the bat, I always recommend you play Amumu, you play Nocturne, one of these two champions. If you want to start climbing quickly, please pick up one trick them. Really easy to learn, really easy to get really good at, really linear as well with their ultimates. I always, always, always, always, always recommend these champions. Cool. Now we're gonna add in some bruisers I recommend. Okay, so Jarvan, Xin Zhao, Both of these champions are low elo dominant, skill checking, like have dashes, you, you almost have it all, even a decent clear speed. Very, very, very, very strong. I'd even add Wukong into the mix. Okay, Wukong is also one of those champions that has it all, is really strong mid game skirmishing and fighting, teaches you good principles in League of Legends as well. Okay. A bruiser I would recommend you to actually avoid is a champion like Vi. Okay? Champion like Vi, the reason why this bruiser I don't recommend is you're way more team reliant, you can do way less by yourself, and think about like what your tools provide for you. You don't really clear too quickly, you are sort of dragon stacking heavy that you need your teammates for, you need to fight with your teammates. And you don't really, like, you don't really have a lot of agency to solo solo carry games and solo kill people. That's why I wouldn't recommend a bruiser like Vi. You also can throw into the mix Lee Sin. Awfully hard champion to play. There's just no real reason why you should pick up a champion like Lee Sin. Very, very, very, very difficult. I just don't ever see a world where I see a low elo player have success on Lee Sin. You need to be like a Diamond, Masters+, or you need to be playing the game for over 10 years. And in which case, if you're low elo, um, still playing Lee Sin after 10 years, there's also a problem with that. Also gonna throw Pantheon in the mix. Similar, he's just kind of weak right now as well. Not worth playing. Um, so these are like the go-to bruisers I normally talk about. What I'm gonna do here— okay, the order of what I'm doing things is kind of random. I've never done tiers like this. What I'm gonna do now is I'm gonna just throw in a bunch of like dogshit solo queue champions. I think I showed them this earlier. Maokai? Terrible. Sejuani? Terrible. Don't play either of these champions. Okay? They're absolutely awful. Darius is absolutely awful. Rammus is absolutely awful. Morgana is absolutely awful. Nautilus? Awful. Olaf? Awful. Kay, all these off meta, random ass, ugly ass champions. Awful, awful, awful, awful, awful. Brand, I don't recommend either. So all these champions, let's see the commonality in all these champions. Oh, Rumble I don't recommend either. Naafiri too. Zed too. Teemo too. Uh, where's Teemo? Teemo, Gragas. Okay, okay, we can build this list even more and then we'll talk why. Why these champions I highly don't recommend. Poppy, Poppy just got nerfed very, very hard. Mordakaiser, just not worth learning, teaches bad habits. Nidalee, too hard. Um, cool. So let's talk. Maokai, Sejuani, Darius, Rammus, all these champions, and Nautilus as well. All these champions here are way too linear. They're not great at stat-checking. You need a lot to make the champions work. Team reliant. Darius is just not even a good jungler anymore. He shouldn't really be in this list. Very, very bad champs. Morgana, very off meta, not worth playing, better choices. Olaf, same thing. Brand, same thing. Brand is simply just not a— there's better AP champs to play than Brand. Brand has some upsides here and there, but overall just not worth playing, especially in the lower ranks. You're gonna make way too many mistakes, not a very forgiving champion. Rumble, awfully hard champion to pilot. Same thing with Nidalee, Zed, Nidalee as well. They're just very, very, very hard champions to pilot. There are some niche cases where you can really work on them. But overall, they're just very, very, very difficult champs. Teemo. I know we've seen some Broxah and some other creators, content creators play Teemo and make it work. I would only say Teemo jungle works if you are a true OTP. I wouldn't say pick up the champion almost ever. Gragas is the same thing. It's true OTP champion. And then Mordekaiser. It has some potential, but it teaches you really interestingly not amazing habits. To further on this list, we're gonna talk about anti-fundamental champions that I normally don't recommend at all. Ivern being one of them. Shaco being another one. Fiddlesticks being another one. Evelynn being another one. Okay? Bel'Veth being one. Master Yi— shh— on edge, on the fence. Karthus. Okay. Zyra. Um, so far I'm happy with this list. Alright, so we're also gonna add Taliyah into the list. So these champions just have such a linear way of playing the game that has only to do with their champions. And the thing is, it's not rewarding enough to warrant OTPing the champ and really pushing the champ to their limits. For example, Gwen also sort of does this, but Gwen is a champion I'd recommend you play because because it is extremely rewarding if you can optimize how you play Gwen and how you can transform your game through your Gwen fundamentals. You'll still— you'll be able to climb significantly easier. Another champion that's weird: Briar, Mundo, these champions— Nunu even, Master Yi, Shyvana. They are fundamentally weird champions, but they have a lot of carry potential. A lot of things that warrant them being champs you should still play. They're not too difficult. And the key differentiator, guys, is the amount of energy and effort you need to put into a champion, and then how much you can translate that into any circumstance, any given circumstance. Okay? Kindred also has a very specific way of playing the game. So does Kayn. But again, if you optimize it, it won't take that long. And then on top of that, you get extremely rewarded. I've seen really good, quote unquote, Evelynn, Fiddlesticks, Shaco players, hundreds of thousands of mastery points, but they look awful. And then I see few hundred thousand mastery points on Kayn, Kindred, Shyvana, Yi, Nunu, and they're climbing so fucking fast. I'm like, how the fuck are they doing it? They have no idea what they're doing. But it's because they have a decent understanding of their champion fundamentally. Cool. So another champion that I would say is just not really worth playing in general, especially in the lower ranks, is gonna be Qiyana and Sylas and Graves. So these champions are— follow under the, like, very hard to play category, um, that being like Nidalee, you know, Zed, Naafiri, Rumble, uh, those champions, just like, they're just difficult. Lee Sin. They're just way too difficult and way too not rewarding, uh, even if you can perfect them because A gold player, picture this, a gold player perfects Qiyana. What does that mean to you? Like, does that mean the guy's gonna play a really good game of League? Like, still, probably not. Okay? And the thing is like, okay, so there's a champion that's like maybe a little bit easier than others. Let's say Naafiri, you have a point-and-click R. The thing is, are you going to be able to optimize your Qs? Are you gonna be able to optimize the fundamental ways you need to play Naafiri? If you miss your Qs on Naafiri, you don't deal damage for for shit. So all of these champions have very, very, very specific, like, you need to be really good, you need to have really good champion fundamentals, and it's not rewarding. Diana is really, really strong. I always recommend this champion. Love Diana. She's in a really good state still. Ekko, I'll decide on Ekko and Elise. Hecarim, highly recommend. Jax, highly recommend. Really good in the meta right now as well. Uh, Kha'Zix, decide. Lillia, I'd recommend. Good power farmer, good solo carry potential. Rek'Sai, think of that. Rengar, think on that. Trundle, I'd highly recommend. Trundle, you can farm fast, you can, um, hard solo carry games, you can split, you have a lot of options. Teaches you pretty good basic game knowledge. Udyr is the same way. He's a little weaker, but he's still worth learning to play. Viego, although I would say like generally speaking, if you're below gold, don't play Viego. I think Viego does actually force you to learn a lot as long as you have an open mind to learning. Because you're forced to learn about all the champions. What I don't like to hear though is I have Viego players be like, "Oh, I don't care what the champions do. I just spam spells when I'm another champion." That's the problem that I see most of the time. If that's what you feel like on Viego, stop playing the champ, bro. You're learning nothing. You're wasting your time. You won't climb. Like, you won't climb. Again, we're purely focusing on climbing. If you want to have fun, have fun. This list doesn't affect you. Warwick, I would recommend, even though he has his own little way of playing the game, Uh, he's still very rewarding. He's a stat checker just like Briar. Insane stat check. And Zac, even though he has his own little way of playing the game, again, very, very, very rewarding champion. Last 5 champions here are ones that I need to decide on because we have 4 assassins and then we have Rek'Sai, which is a difficult champion. The only reason why I would emphasize Rek'Sai here on this tier list is because Rek'Sai is probably one of the most broken champions on the meta right now, like on the patch, if you can play decently mechanically. For some reason, this champion is just like, excels. And the reason why is because this champion is also really good into bruisers. But like, in terms of playing to Rek'Sai's limits, it can be difficult. Although, champion is somewhat linear, somewhat straightforward. Rengar as a champion, honestly, I wouldn't recommend. Very difficult. Um, unless you're getting a lot, unless you're really watching, truly, truth be told, like, like, Hormelwashing, NattyNat, Scrub Noob, any really good Rengar player, this champion is just like not worth investing too much time in. So it's only like a, I have to learn a lot from the best players to make this champion work. Now as for the Ekko, I will have to say Ekko is just, he's not making it. He's not making the cut. Too difficult, too not rewarding, and it's just like, it's not a solo carry, a hard solo carry champion. Um, he's not making the list. Elise, I'm also saying she's not making the list. Sadly, I think Elise has a lot of potential, but the reason why Elise doesn't work is because people think mentally, oh, oh shit, I need to force things, I need to gank. They go 5 CS per minute and then they lose the game. If you can play Elise with pure strategy, 7 CS per minute, You play her like a scaling DPS champion, Elise is actually viable. Last champion here is Kha'Zix. We're debating like which one do we go? Champs to play, champs to avoid. I'm gonna have to say that Kha'Zix deserves to be a champ that I would say is willing to play. He's not— he's one of the more acceptable assassin junglers. Especially because we don't have many. I would say if you want an assassin to play, Kha'Zix is within the realms of easy and hard and acceptable. Like, like, it, it, it works as one of the assassins if you really want to play. Then there's Shadow Kayn, and those are like your two really big options. Viego as a crit champion can be considered an assassin. Uh, you can go assassin Nocturne build, assassin Draven build. Again, guys, this is my, my two cents. If you're Iron to Diamond, which champions I recommend you play to teach you good basics in League, to set you up straight so you can learn the right things and then also climb fast. Like, my goal is to help you climb fast. That's always, always my goal. Climb fast, learn the right things so you can keep climbing. Okay? This list doesn't affect you if you play for fun, if you enjoy, and never let these lists persuade you off your OTP champion. If you have 1 million points on your champion, I promise you it is better for you to stay on your champion, learn more depth, because although you might have a million points, you'll learn a lot from the better players on your champion. Uh, and then just keep playing champion and double down on that. Don't let my— don't let my tier list persuade you. And yeah guys, if you enjoyed, leave a like, comment, and subscribe. And let me know if you guys have any other ideas or requests on what you guys want to see. Take care.
