The 10 Fundamental Jungle Rules You Need To Know! - League of Legends Jungle Guide

Challenger Perry Norman breaks down ten jungle rules for climbing in League of Legends: one-trick a champion, mute chat, hit 7 CS per minute, focus on map objectives like dragons and Baron, and sync with your fed teammate. The climb feels boring and repetitive, but the fundamentals stick even as the game changes.

In this guide, you're going to learn the 10 most important rules to help you escape low elo as a jungler. Every day I get so many comments from lower elo players about their struggles with bad teammates and not being able to climb, and I completely get it. That's why we're following these rules are so, so important. When you understand them and apply them to your game, the sky is genuinely the limit with how high you can climb in League. We'll be breaking these rules into 2 categories. We have the setup rules and the gameplay rules. If you guys don't know me, I'm Perry Norman Norman. I've been Challenger for the last 7 years and I've helped over 1,000 people get to their rank goals. Let's jump right into the setup rules. Number 1, we have one-tricking. One-tricking is so, so, so important. You must follow this, okay? Stick to one champion. There's no workaround whatsoever. The thing is, guys, it's not fun, it's not pretty, but when you play one champion, you're gonna have the mastery and understanding that other people don't have. Picture a Viego player who has had 10 games, 100 games on the champion versus the Viego player who has 500 to 1,000. There's a significant difference in what the Viego player with 1,000 games knows compared to the guy with 100 games. You don't want to not understand how much damage you have. If you know how much damage you can deal in a fight, you know your limits, you'll be able to do a lot more when you understand your champion at its core level. Guys, there's no way around this. There's no 2-tricking, there's no 3-tricking. Pick a champion. If it gets banned, you can either dodge or, you know, just don't even try to win the next game. Just relax, have a good time, have a break. One trick the champion if you genuinely are serious about climbing. Number 2 here, we have mental nirvana. Okay, your mental is so, so, so important. I cannot stress this enough. The thing is, guys, you won't win every game, and you need to understand that. Your teammates are going to be bad. Your teammates are going to be completely clueless. They're going to run you down. It's literally like getting a really bad hand in poker. Sometimes bad things happen in a League of Legends game. But here's the thing, you can always learn something from every single game, no matter what happens, no No matter what occurs, you can have 3 losing lanes and you can still work on something. You can still gain something. Okay, what can I learn with 3 losing lanes? It doesn't seem like I can learn much. You can learn how to train your mentality. You can learn how to better yourself as a player even when you have 3 losing lanes. Don't hit that FF. Don't question mark your teammates. Don't type in chat. If you practice those skills, it pays off in the future. Okay, so no matter how hard the game gets, if you learn something and take away some sort of tangible thing you could learn, you will constantly, constantly improve. And if you're genuinely a good player that deserves that rank, your rank will reflect that over time. Usually a Plat player who's like, I deserve Emerald, I deserve Diamond, they might actually not be wrong. But the thing is, your mental is so bad that it's actually holding you back. So hone in on having a good attitude. Don't FF, don't type, and don't ping anyone negatively on your team. It is so, so, so important. The third thing here is changing your F keys to something a bit easier and more accessible. Instead of your F keys being on F1, F2, F3, and F4, change them to Z, X, C, and V. It makes things so much easier to use. You're going to be able to actually look at your teammates, figure out and see what's going on. I'm not asking you guys to unlock your screen. I'm just asking you guys to change your keybinds to be a little bit better. All the pro players use these keybindings. Majority of people tell me how bad it is to use F1, F2, F3, and F4. I understand it. I changed things way back in the day and it helped me climb significantly. It should help you as well. Information is so important in League of Legends, but if you have the wrong keybindings, you're not going to be able to easily get that information in your games. The next rule is really simple, but it's so, so, so important, and it sucks that a lot of people debate with me on this. Simply play with chat off. Okay? There's no point of having chat on. You're going to get into arguments, you're going to see things in chat that you don't want to see ever. People are going to say crazy things, it's going to throw you off your game. The enemy might say something that triggers you, your teammate might say something that triggers you. No matter what happens, that's extra information that you don't want to be focusing on. Even if your mental is perfect, and even if you know for sure it's not going to affect you, The fact that you're reading what's going on in chat is changing your focus from what's going on in the game to what's going on in chat. And that's why chat is just pointless to have, okay? No matter what type of player you are, especially people who tilt or who don't get affected, playing with chat off is almost always going to be better for you. Now, some people might argue that, okay, what if I want to talk to my teammates about what to do and like, hey, like, I'm about to go play for the dragon, I'm about to go do this. You need to learn how to communicate that with pings. I'll make another video on how to ping effectively at some point. But truly, truly, truly, what you want to do is not have chat on and be able to communicate what you want using your pings. The next rule we have here is muting your teammates. The moment your teammate pings something negatively or just, you know, they're inting and they're about to blame you, mute them. There is no reason to have them unmuted. There's no reason to listen to their pings. They don't have anything helpful to tell you. They are actually so furious right now that the best thing you can do is just mute them. So mute your teammates who are losing their minds and getting absolutely triggered at nothing. You can still work with them, you can still play with them, you can still, you know, have a good game with them, but don't have their pings. Make sure, guys, you mute your teammates. All right, that's it for the setup rules. They're very straightforward, very basic. And truth be told, guys, if you follow these 5 rules already, you are going to be that much better than the average playerbase. Most people don't like one-tricking. Most people don't have the good mental behind things. That's why they're low elo. They're generally good players, but they have bad mental. Most people don't know about Z, X, C, and V as their F keys. People also don't play with chat off, and they don't mute their teammates. If you follow these 5 things, you're already going to have a head start on more than half the playerbase. But anyway, let's jump into the gameplay rules. These rules are super duper important. Real quick guys, I want to talk about my jungle tier list and my free guides on my junglekingdom.gg platform right now. If you go take a look at the description box down below, you can take a look at this tier list and open up champion guides just like this. You'll see a full rune setup, build setup, situational item setup, and a bit of quick tips— early game, mid game, and late game tips. So go take a look at that real quick. Anyway, back to the video. Coming in at number 6, guys, farming is your foundation, okay? It's not your end-all be-all, it's your foundation. So if you don't know what to do, you're lost, you're aimless, you go and farm, okay? But when you have an idea of what you should be doing, and you know you should be on that dragon, you know you should be fighting the enemies, you know you should be ending the game, go do those things. But farming is the bottom line, it's the framework you build around. Okay, when there's nothing to do on the map, you farm. When you don't know what to play for, you farm. And you want to aim for 7 CS per minute every single game. If you get 7 CS per minute, you're doing great. At least 7 CS per minute. The higher you go, the better. Even on champions that are ganking-focused, ganking-heavy— let's say you're playing Elise, let's say you're playing Lee Sin, let's say playing Xin Zhao— all of those champions still want at least 7 CS per minute or more. And the reason for that is you need gold and EXP. We're going to talk a little bit more about gold and EXP in a second, but gold and EXP is everything in League of Legends. That's why farming is important. That's why you play for CS, because you need resources. All right, guys, coming in at number 7 here, we have identifying your most fed teammates. This is very, very, very important because if you don't know who you're playing around, you don't know who's fed on your team, you're not going to know who to play with or what to do in the team fights. When you have your most fed teammate and you know who's strong, you want to do everything with them. Imagine you're playing basketball. You have that one teammate who's not missing his 3-point shots. Every time you toss him the ball, he's going to land that 3-pointer. You want to work around the teammate who's doing that, okay? You don't want to play around the deadweight. You don't want to play around the people who aren't doing much for you. You play with the person who does the most. Okay, that's what it's like in League of Legends. You identify the strongest teammate. If they want to go in, you go in. If they want to play slow, you play slow. And it changes based on the champion they're playing. An ADC will play differently than a top laner. Whoever's more fed is the person you choose to play with. 2v8ing a game is way better than playing a 1v9 or way better than trying to play with someone who's weaker. So let's say your teammate is literally pushing top lane by himself, but he's your strongest teammate. Go fight with him. Generally, you'll actually be able to win a 2v3, a 2v4. Because your fed teammate is with you. And when you have your fed teammate, you can just accomplish so much more in any game that you play. Coming in at number 8 here, guys, it's not chasing kills. If you are anywhere from the rank of Iron to Diamond, you're probably chasing kills you don't need to be chasing. The reason why kills are helpful is because it generates you gold and EXP. But in reality, there are way more ways to generate gold and EXP than just kills. On paper, a kill is 300 gold and a bit of EXP depending on your level, their level, and how many people are around you. If you get 3 camps, that's 300 gold. That's the same amount of gold you'd get as if you're going to kill a champion. Let's say you get a dragon, let's say you get a crab, let's say you get a turret. All of those are going to be worth more gold than the kill. So if you get somebody to 20% HP and you have the choice to chase them, overextend, potentially die, or secure that dragon, secure that turret, secure those camps, think twice before you chase and go get that kill and get yourself killed. Alright guys, coming in at number 9 here, we have focusing the damn objectives. A lot of you guys don't have the same weight on objectives as you should. Objectives are what you use to win your games. Objectives are everything. You stack dragons, you can get Soul. You get Baron, you can siege. You get Herald, you can actually pressure turrets. Every objective actually helps you win the game. What are we looking to do with the objectives? We're looking to break their Nexus eventually. Dragons gives us more stats. They help us summon Elder. With Elder, we can end the game. Herald helps us siege. Baron helps us siege. Every objective helps you progressively end the game. So if you're making plays and you're not doing them around an objective, you're generally not doing the right thing. So I don't want to see you guys going bot lane playing for something, you know, in the bot side when the Herald is up and you're strong in the game and you're going to win, you want to be playing for that objective. So Herald comes at 15 minutes. You need to be around Herald when the objective spawns. Okay, Dragon's coming up in a minute, minute 30, 2 minutes. You don't want to be making plays in the top side. Same thing for Baron at 20 minutes. The thing is, even if you don't get the objective, even if you're not like 100% always winning the fight, if you have the idea to play around them and you're properly working with your teammates to get the objective, that's generally going to be better than doing anything else in the game. Now, there's one small thing that I will mention. If you're the team that's not ahead and you're behind, don't fight the objectives. What you need to do is stay away from the enemies and go try to take fights where you have more teammates than they do. So you want to 2v1 someone, you want to 3v1 someone, 3v2 someone. You don't want to be in the group of people on the objective. That's the only scenario, you know, when you're, when you're behind where you don't want to be making plays around the objective, guys. All right, and to close things off with the most important thing, at number 10 here we have the fact that winning can be boring. This rule is super important to understand and follow. Winning is extremely, extremely, extremely boring. Let's think about someone who goes to the gym consistently. They're going and they're eating the same things They are, you know, doing the same routine when they go. They have a pattern, they have repetition, they have things that they follow every single time. When you look at that on the outside, that actually looks kind of boring. They're going in, they're doing the same, same, same things over and over and over again. But at the end of the day, they get the results, they get the things they want, which is a nice body. They're fit and they feel good. It's the same thing in League of Legends. You know, one-tricking at the end of the day is not fun for everyone. You know, some people love their champions, so it works. But some people, they're like, dude, one tricking is boring. I want to play multiple champions. And here's the thing. If you want to play multiple champions, you're not doing the best method there is to climb. And that's fine. But that's like you saying that I want to become a bodybuilder. I want to be really strong. I want to be really fit. But you want to change your routine every single time you show up there. It's not the best way to get to where you want to be. So you need to evaluate, am I playing to climb, or am I playing to have fun? And they're very different things. If you're playing to climb, do the best method. If you're playing to have fun, relax a little. LP doesn't matter as much. Go enjoy, go play different champions. Guys, I can't stress enough how doing the boring thing is just the best way to climb. Objectives can be boring sometimes. Sometimes your teammates are fighting everyone else and you're on the objective by yourself doing the boring thing, but it gets the job done. If you guys follow all 10 of these rules, I guarantee you that you're gonna have more success in climbing and getting to your ranked goal. But let's be honest about one thing, guys. Even if you hit your short-term goal, there's probably a longer-term goal out there, and you're probably gonna come back to the game and play more. So the big thing about these rules is you're building a secure foundation that's going to carry through no matter what happens in League of Legends, okay? No matter how drastically the game changes, you're still going to have a strong foundation to build off of. Alright guys, if you enjoyed this video, please do me a favor and like, comment, and subscribe, and I'll see you guys in the next video.
