League of Legends coach Perry Norman breaks down how to handle a jungle invade using two rules: never die and stay patient. When Kha'Zix invades his raptor side, he safely clears camps, checks red cautiously, then counter-invades the enemy bot side to steal blue buff and secure a kill on Quinn.
What do I do when I get invaded? That is the number one question I get asked as a Challenger League of Legends coach, and here's my answer. Number one, you have to make sure you do not die when you get invaded, and number two is you need to have patience and you need to be willing to take camps or kills later on in the game. You're playing for a tempo advantage in the future. In this clip here, I have Kha'Zix invading me. He's trying to take my Raptor camp. I chunk him out, and as you can see, I'm playing very safe and I'm trying to make sure I don't die. After I take my Raptor camp, I go check the red buff with a lot of caution because I'm scared that Kha'Zix might take my red. He's very strong. He can kill me. If he kills me, my game is screwed. I do not want to die. I end up skipping the red buff because I'm terrified Kha'Zix is gonna come kill me. I end up doing the Krugs, pulling it further down just in case he comes. And here's the part that a lot of you guys would miss. Instead of going straight to my red buff and dying here, I end up running away from my red buff. And watch what happens. Because I'm running away and I'm scared, Kha'Zix shows up. He jumps me. Now pause. This is very important to understand. Kha'Zix did 3 camps here and then invaded my red buff. He now has 16 CS, which means means that he skipped his entire bot side. This means that I have an opportunity to either invade his bot camps or his top side respawn or maybe gank a lane. All of those are really solid options. I notice one thing here: Kha'Zix is running back to his Raptor camp. That must mean he needs to return to the side of the map so he can clear his Raptors so I don't invade him there. What I do in response is I immediately recall and I go straight into his bot side and I make a play on his blue buff. What ends up happening is history here. Quinn shows up trying to defend Kha'Zix bot side. I get a massive pick on the Quinn here. Massive chunk into a pick. Seraphine's coming. I'm pinging really actively. Not only did we kill the Quinn, we also chunked the Camille to literally 2 HP, which really helps my bot lane. And now here you have is Kha'Zix really upset, really crying. He comes to try to contest the camp, doesn't even win the camp, and now he's freaking lost his mind. To make things worse for the enemies, they're fuming, they're mad, they're trying to take a fight against us. Okay, come fight us, bro. See what happens. And now Kha'Zix has lost his mid lane the game, the bot lane the game, all because he wanted to defend his silly little blue buff.
