This Was The Most 1v9 Viego Game I've Played In Years... (THE PERFECT GAME)

Perry Norman plays Viego jungle with a Hail of Blades crit build, breaking down early camp control, dragon contests, and late-game positioning to one-shot enemies. He explains why crit synergizes with Viego's kit and how to leverage a lead into objective control.
Chapters
Hey guys, it's Perry. Today we're playing another Viego game. I just brawled with the enemy jungler a little bit. Nothing crazy happened. I'm gonna walk you through the Viego fundamentals from start to finish. The early game, the mid game, the late game, and the fighting. But most importantly, right now we're talking about the build. And we're talking about the runes. So we're going Hail of Blades. I love the Hail of Blades setup. When they have 3 or more squishy champions, Orianna, Draven, Seraphine, then go the Halo Blade setup. This is such a powerful setup because you have Collector first item into Shieldbow into Infinity Edge, your giga giga power spike. You have more crit and your Q and R does more crit damage. You can pause here while I'm hovering over this and read this. At the bottom, it tells you that you deal more damage with crit chance. Same thing with your ultimate. Pause here, read that, and you'll see that you get more damage with your crit chance, which is why crit chance is so powerful on Viego.
Thank you.
The early game is pretty straightforward. You farm and you get gold. Viego is a champion that like, you need to hit all your camps on spawn in order for you to get gold. Lowkey, this is like a farming jungler. Like, I'm gonna be so for real, Viego's clear speed is actually really fast. It's on the faster end of a lot of junglers. He clears giga, giga, giga fast. So I'm focused on getting all my camps first and then making plays. The same way any other jungler would do it. The only difference with Viego is you can come to fights that like might not be too hard winning and make it winning because of your passive and because of how strong your kit is in general. Like Viego's kit is very, very, very powerful. Now Nocturne as a champion is a champion that can beat me 1v1. So I need my teammates to come help me if I want to get this crab. Otherwise, the crab is not going to be mine. Let's try to one-shot this as fast as we can and get to this crab and try to steal that crab away from the enemy Nocturne. Okay. If the enemy Nocturne pushes the crab towards mid lane, great. If he pushes it towards bot lane, it is what it is. My mid has good pressure, good control. The enemy Nocturne is pushing the crab there. I'm just gonna say, "Hey, fuck it. You get the bot crab, bro. I'll go get the top crab." Like, it's all good, man. There's no— there's nothing wrong with that, yo. Now, what we can do is we can see what the enemy Nocturne is doing here. He's definitely trying to do the crab, maybe. No, with the mid conditions, with things looking like this, unless Orianna teleports back, what I could try to do is I could try to just sneak this bad boy here. I can try to get the small guys at least. I think this guy's Flash now. Great, and now I'm gonna pretend to walk away. I'm gonna pretend to just leave here, and watch this. I'm gonna go all the way around, and Nocturne will for sure try to get his Krugs here. For sure he's gonna try to get his Krugs here.
Wait.
2, 1, no.
My house is sacred.
Hello, buddy. And that's what good jungle tracking is. And that's what a good jungler is able to do. Completely stomp this guy like it's nothing. We get our first blood, we got both of his camps, we have such a fat juicy lead now. And now we're gonna go defend our bot camps. A lot of people fuck up here. A lot of people try to restart the game and they try to go toward their top camps. You can't go to top camps here. You have to go defend your camps. Okay, you have to go to your Raptors. Why is that possible? Okay, why is it possible for me to be able to go invade his Raptors and Krugs? I'm playing Viego. I just said that Nocturne beats me. It's because I am playing through my mid lane's advantage. My mid laner is destroying the enemy jungler— or the enemy mid laner. I can jump him here. Is my Janna coming?
Yup.
You might have won the camp, bro, but you die. And we can try to do the dragon here now. Which should be relatively straightforward. We have extra AD from the camp. And that's why you defend your Raptor camp first, because the only camp that he can replay for is your Raptor camp. That's why I'm there on spawn. I'm ready to make sure that he's not able to get that camp. If I'm not defending my Raptor camp there, he will take it. He will get it. And I'm gonna be very fucking sad if he does that. That's perfect jungle tracking right there. Most junglers will do exactly what that Nocturne just did. It's not anything crazy. It's not like a flip. It's not like a tilt play. It's like it's the best thing for him to do. And that's what jungling is— Like, that's when jungling is really fun. When there's like the best play, you know what the best play is for them. And then you can decide that like, ooh, based on their best play I can do the best response play which is what jungling is all about.
Oh my God!
Get a max charge stun here. Auto this guy to death.
Beautiful.
See where Nocturne is. Nocturne's up there already. Like, that's fine. Just let— leave— we can leave Nocturne alone, bro. He leveled up his Smite already, which means it's not going to be necessarily easy for us to invade him. We have a Collector we can purchase. We're 3 kills, so we have the early game lead. How do you win games when you have an early game lead? Let's talk about it, okay? The mid game starts when you get your completed item. Okay, that's the way I want you to think about it. Mid game starts when you have a completed item. What do you do when you have your completed item, when the quote unquote mid game starts? What you're looking to do is you're looking to farm your camps as fast as possible so you can be proactive on the map. So remember, you're trying to clear your camps as fast as humanly possible. And it's possible to clear camps quickly because you have your item and you're really, really, really, really strong. So what I'm gonna do here is I'm gonna clear all of my camps, and the next best thing for me to play for is the Grubs. I want the Void Grubs. Jungle fundamentals in general is play around every objective when you have a lead. If you don't have a lead, you don't have to play around objectives. You need to trade and get away from them. But we do have a lead in this case. When you have a lead, what do you do? You go and you fight every single objective. If the enemy Nocturne comes to fight us, we will destroy him. If the enemy Nocturne doesn't come to fight us— whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa, this guy's getting jumped. My Syndra has flash. They're probably gonna get clapped here. Yep. Okay. So, I'm gonna sit my Syndra here. They wanna try to do this. I'm gonna do this with my boy.
I'm gonna do this with my boy.
Okay. Let's get vision from the Janna. And the thing is, we are still stronger than the Nocturne, so I can actually play for these Void Grubs without needing to recall for my item. Like, because the Nocturne just used ulti, I'm guessing Orianna just used ulti too. We can just do these Void Grubs.
Why not?
We are stronger than them right now. They have no conditions. Let's look at top lane. Top lane is like giga war. What the fuck? Top lane is war. But the Mundo probably has his ulti and maybe he has Flash. Flash. So because the Mundo probably has ulti and maybe Flash, let's do the guaranteed safe play. What is the guaranteed safe play here? Get 4 gold. It's get the crab, recall, spend our gold, and then replay for the next objective. In the mid game, guys, you need to play for your objectives. If you're not playing for your objectives, you're not gonna end up having very clean wins. But I'm gonna be able to cleanly win this game because I'm not griefing my tempo, I'm recalling actively, and I'm playing through objectives. So I'm gonna ping that there, buy these components. I want boots so I can actually chase people and I can make it to fights. We're gonna do our full clear all the way towards the bot side and then go for this Dragon. Let's look at how strong my bot lane is. Bot trades look pretty good. Sivir looks like she's not that weak. Let's look at top lane. Maybe we have a small window here if the enemy Malphite stays here and the Mundo tries to walk up. He's not walking up. But this Mundo will likely go for this next wave. So the question is, is that worth it? Is that worth my time? Or should I just go ahead and commit to my full clear all the way towards the bot side and play for this Drake? Honestly, it's a good debate to have with like some people, like your friends. Is this kill worth more? Um, the reasons why I don't like this kill is because it's time intensive. The Nocturne might be able to invade my bot camps, and if I reveal myself, the Nocturne can dive my bot lane, gank my mid lane, or even counter gank top lane. But if I stay in fog of war, they're terrified. And we have one winning lane right now. You want to play towards your winning lanes when you have a lead. My winning lane is my Syndra, so I'm going to play through Syndra. Okay, if you use time on your teammates who are like a little bit weak or like just doing okay, it's actually really bad for your game because it's expending your tempo on plays that like aren't going to net you in a lot of value. For example, If this Syndra gets 2 more kills here or something, Syndra will be able to 1v9 and pop off. If Syndra doesn't get the kills, or if Mundo— if Malphite gets the kills, then it's useless. Unfortunately, my Syndra disrespected and walked up on a timer she should not have walked up on. So now what that means is the enemies have an opportunity to get this dragon. And I don't know if we'll be able to stop them at all here.
I'm scared. We have to go slowly here.
It's probably nothing. I'll be honest. The enemy has item and we don't have items. So it's probably nothing. That's fine. Like, maybe that top kill is better then. I didn't count for my mid laner killing herself though. It's okay. Like, sometimes, you know, like the plays don't go optimally to how your plan is. The worst thing is if you're not able to adapt. And you get yourself killed on this Dragon. You're like, "Oh, I'm supposed to win the Dragon." And then you get yourself killed on the Dragon. Like, that's the worst thing you can do. If it goes wrong, it goes wrong. Adapt. Like, my Syndra is still strong. Like, we still have opportunity to go kill top lane. Like, nothing has changed in such a negative way where it's like this game is too hard to win. But like, if I dig my grave by trying to force plays, that's how you normally fuck the mid game up. It's by doing too much. Lowkey, doing less is really powerful in a game of League of Legends, especially in lower elos. You kind of let the game play itself. So I'm farming my camps, I'm letting the game play itself, finding opportunity, no opportunity, that's fine. Like, let the game kind of happen and be in the right positions at the right times, but let the game kind of happen. Okay, let's go to our Raptors. Let's go to our Krugs. We might be able to gank the bot lane. We might be able to pressure this down here. I think that might be mid lane. Yeah, I'm going to try to get there as fast as I can. Okay, great, we got this kill here. It's a 1 for 1 at the very least.
Yeah.
Okay, I should be out here. She can't actually pressure me further. It's pretty hard for her to chase me, so I can grab this red buff real quick. So I don't know if their Mundo has ulti or not. Let's Q this to see if it's up.
Not up.
And like, the Mundo is rough. It's pretty hard for me to kill. So what I could do is I could try to heal from this fruit, see if their mid laner is walking up, and then we could try to play with my Syndra, because again, Syndra is the lane we want to play through. I'm not at any vision here. If you walk through there, you don't get spotted. We find the pick here.
Beautiful.
Welcome to my army of the dead. They get this kill here. We can ult, ult with our Sivir and everything. Go, go, go. I can still find a kill here.
Beautiful.
I have my W shields. Oh, my, my Syndra almost combo'd me with me there, but that's okay. We still got the Nocturne killed, we got the Seraphine killed, we got the Orianna killed, we got his Gromp as well, and we got the Seraphine flash, which is huge. My Syndra's also gonna do a giga play against this guy here. Um, ouch. Sivir tried that. Nice try, you know, I respect it. Can't watch. I can't watch. I can't watch. I can't watch. Sivir is not a human. I have 8 kills out of the 8 kills on the team. Okay, the only human on my team is literally Syndra and Janna, and then Malphite is like whatever. Malphite is just Malphite. Okay, let's get our Infinity Edge, and then we can try to pop off and 1v9 this game. That's like the best thing for me to do. So right now, there's a wave that my Syndra wants to play on, and there's a dragon.
Fuck.
I'm trying to think here what's best. I think contesting is fine. I think contesting is okay. If you use Fog of War and positioning, you can get yourself into really good positions like that and find picks that unlock objectives. Like, pretty much the game is about using your time and your picks to find advantages so that you can actually get the objectives.
Okay.
We kind of need to get this wave. Seraphine fucking rooted me there, otherwise I'd get the kill. We need to clear the mid wave because we need to exchange that. Now the Nocturne gets to clear my top camps, but at least I get to go clear bot camps and then I get to try to invade. I get to try to kill this Orianna. Like, the best thing for me to try to play for here is killing this Orianna. Fojan is here, she dies.
Beautiful.
I can pressure with her one time because the Nocturne is probably gonna ulti.
Beautiful.
That's how you bait the enemy jungler. Like, you know exactly what his game plan is, right? His game plan is so obvious there. Oh, bitch, this guy came too? Fucking Mundo came too? Okay, at least Seraphine ulted. And we get the mid turret. Like, look at the pressure we're putting on the map. We got 3 plates, we got a kill, we're getting the top plates, we're getting the mid— like everything. And we have enough gold for our Infinity Edge. Nice. Like that's what a good sequence looks like. You create pressure away from the enemy group, you force the enemy group to respond to you. When you play like that, when you play League of Legends like this, you make the enemies always respond to you. That's how you progress games, or that's how you win games where it's like, I'm literally every single kill on this team. I'm every single kill. So in order to win this game, I need to keep playing like this because we're not really winning team fights. My mid laner is not too strong. My ADC is not too strong. I mean, technically, if Malphite gets a juicy angle on the— on anyone, then like we could one-shot him, could win. But it's kind of like, come on, Malphite, you got this. Like, I have to believe in my Malphite. Which maybe we should, maybe we should. Okay, if you are the Mundo, maybe you go for the stop wave. And if Mundo goes for the stop wave, maybe we could try to pressure him. Let's see if the Krugs are up. Krugs are not up. But the Mundo has no TP. And we do want an LDR eventually to kill this guy easier, but that's a fat shutdown for us right there. That's how you create pressure and again, force the enemies to respond to you. Oh, it's me. I have a shield though, so I should be fine here. Yo, I literally didn't think there was any world where that guy would ult me, but he did. He's a fucking idiot for doing that shit. I'm gonna be so honest, he's a fucking dumbass idiot for doing that. Now they don't have that much armor. I want the crit chance. The 20% crit chance, so fucking powerful. The LDR is also really powerful item, but I want the Quick Shots. Okay, nobody has shutdowns on either sides. My, my Orianna is doing this. The Orianna should be running for her life here. Get the skill here.
Great. Nice.
These guys are fucking cooked. That's how you use angles to win fights. We could— like, Baron is actually maybe not the best play for us to make. We should probably go pressure with our Syndra. Because Syndra wants to pressure, we should just pressure with her. We can grab the Cramp in the meantime. It's not like Nocturne and the Mundo can do the Baron. We have our LDR. Let's grab our LDR here and then let's go. I mean, like, technically, anti-heal would be good against Mundo. Technically, yes. But it's fine. I want this red buff, but look, I have two— I have four items. Sorry, my teammates have two items. There's a wave that they're playing on. They want to set up vision. You have to go fight now. We have items. These are the waves that they're trying to play around. We have to go. Now or we won't be able to find the right— the next best time to make a play happen. And we one-shot him just like that. And again, what am I going to do? I'm gonna look for angles. I'm gonna sit back here. One-shot that guy.
Get outta here!
And that's what you do with angles. Again, I one-shot another guy there because of the angle that I held. Halo blades, baby, you're getting one-shot. You flash away, you're dead too. This— I have my— I'm an LDR, so I can actually kill you pretty easily. This is a crazy game, by the way. Where's the Nocturne? He's not coming this way. I have my full build. So here's the thing. When you have full build like this, sitting in bushes like this is lowkey the next best thing to do. Because what am I going to buy? I'm gonna buy like a little bit of gold? Like, I'm gonna send a little bit of gold? Instead, I can sit here, wait 15-20 seconds for the Seraphine to come facecheck me, one-shot her ass, maybe the Orianna comes, maybe the Nocturne comes, and they're fucking one-shot dead. And then now we can pressure the game and we can siege. This is what you're probably missing in your games when you have your items and you're strong. You're not pressuring bushes the way I am. Oh shit, that's not good. My homie losing 1v1 there, that ain't good, bro. Wow, Seraphine is going a disrespectful path here.
Boom.
We found, we have the easiest angle on that guy. Like it's nothing.
Boom.
You guys see? That's because of our positioning. Okay, let's see if anyone shows up here. We're gonna wait here. Maybe the guy comes mid lane.
Mid turret.
Okay, we're behind the Orianna.
Orianna's dead. Nice.
One shot him with the full crit. Positioning, guys, it's how you win games. Killed that Draven here. The reason why killing Draven is so nice there is because he's the only person with items on their team, and if we kill him with our Baron, we can actually end the game. In the late game, right now, you have to use your Baron buff to actually pressure. So I'm using my Flash aggressively. I'm walking forward aggressively. I'm looking to chunk people out if I can, if they disrespect me. Otherwise, just play for the turrets. My ult does 1,200 damage there. Jesus. My Seraphine thinks she does any damage, or my Syndra thinks she does any damage. The damage is all me. I have shieldbow though. You can't kill me.
Oh, okay.
They have so much damage. 183 kills out of 25 kills. And watch, let me prove it to you guys. This is a Challenger elo game, or at least high enough to be in the Challenger elo. Uh, let's honor like the Malphite, whatever. And then look, look at this here, guys. We're, we're playing in, you know, I'm 967 LP, 67, 67, 67. Let's see how much LP this guy is. A Challenger jungler. Like, it's like, it's, it's just that easy. It's just that easy. But, uh, if you guys enjoyed that banger Viego game, please leave a like, comment, and subscribe, and I'll see you guys in the next banger Viego video.
