Peter Szabo (speaker) explains how to become more peaceful by rewriting how one holds past experiences. He shares an anecdote about twin brothers—one developed a lasting dog phobia after being startled as an infant—and argues that early associative learning can create unconscious protective responses that persist into adulthood. Szabo suggests "updating" those past associations (rewriting the memory’s meaning) to remove maladaptive fear responses and applies the same idea to unconscious resistance around money (a self-imposed income "glass ceiling"). He credits this reframing with major personal gains (business success, relationship) and ends with a brief call to action to engage in comments.

So how do you feel more at ease, more peaceful, more Zen in life? It's a common question I get. And I want to share a real true story with you. Hey, my name is Peter Sabo. And this gentleman, he was a twin brother, right? It was two twins. And when they were super young and like the, you know, the stroller, whatever they call it, one of the twins was awake, but he was asleep. There was a dog that came by barking. The kid that was awake, you know, rejoiced, he was laughing, what a cute little puppy or whatever. The other kid unfortunately was startled. You know, he woke up from his sleep, started to cry, and he was scared by this dog. Now, at that time, his brain associated that dogs and barking equal danger, right? This guy, fast forward in his life 10, 20, 30 years, he has a phobia of dogs. And even small dogs, like those Chihuahuas, you know, that could never harm anyone. But when he walks past these dogs, he literally gets this physical tension, this fight or flight response, like something's wrong, he wants to run away. And he's tried to do everything, psychotherapy, you name it, to try to get rid of this unreasonable phobia. And all his life he thought, there's something wrong with him, this is not normal, I'm broken, something's wrong. And actually when you think about it, there's nothing wrong with this person because the brain is just trying to protect him. So it actually serves him to be afraid around dog so that he runs away. The only difference here is it might have served him when he was younger. That's how his brain interpreted the situation. But at 30, 40, 50 years old, there's no need to worry, especially from small dogs. So all he needed to do is update his past so that no longer he would fear dogs, no longer he'd get that fight or flight. The moment he did that, the moment he rewrote those memories, even though he knew he couldn't change the past, but he could change how he holds it within his brain. The phobia went away. And then people did this with all sorts of different problems with insomnia, with money problems. Oftentimes we grow up in an average middle class, below middle class family. Then we try to make more money, we try to run a business, get a raise, get a new job. And it seems like there's this invisible glass ceiling in our income levels. And that's not because we're not good enough or we don't try hard enough. It's just a part of you wants more money because. But deep down unconsciously 95% of you is telling you it's not safe. Everybody around you, parents, friends, family, your tribe is not making that much money. You don't want to leave them behind. That wouldn't be safe. It's not who you are. If you grew up as a person making example 5,000amonth or in a household that was making around 5,000amonth you're going to self sabotage yourself trying to make 10, 20, 100,000amonth. And unless you release that unconscious resistance and you make it safe to make that money you you align your past with your desired future. Once I learned that one thing and I implemented in my life results that I got were crazy. Built a million dollar business, found the love of my life and that's all because I figured out this key distinction. So I'm sharing with this with you today. Hopefully it helps and if it does just let me know below. Shoot me a comment and if you have any questions happy to get them answered. Bye.
