PSZ - Create & Customize Leadpages

A step-by-step walkthrough showing how to create and customize opt-in landing pages in Leadpages. Peter Szabo demonstrates choosing templates (standard vs drag-and-drop), editing visuals (background video/image, logo), writing benefit-driven headlines using specific formulas, integrating email/autoresponder services, configuring thank-you pages, and publishing under a custom domain/WordPress. He also covers practical UX/legal details (privacy link, Facebook disclaimer) and high-level advice about offers, guarantees, and removing friction.

All right, in this video, I'm going to teach you how to create simple, yet very sharp looking landing pages in leadpages. Now, to preface this video, please take the time to actually get the right software, to get the right tools. Because I actually had a client and it took him two months to build a landing page that really should not take more than a few hours if you get the right tools. Because he was really trying to stay cheap. He had bought software that was like maybe 20 bucks one time, but it didn't have the functionality, it looked like shit. So, hey, make sure that you know, you get the right tools because without the right tools, there's no way to grow this business. You know, we're growing a real business here, so whatever it takes. I mean, this is a $40 per month subscription and I'm really not here to pitch or sell lead pages. I mean, you can get click funnels, you can really get any other alternative. But keep in mind, this is the one that I had used for years. This is the one that I can actually help you with and point you in the right direction. So if you choose a different solution and absolutely okay, I completely respect it, but you might actually need to reach out to their support to get some help because, hey, I'll just, you know, teach you leadpages. This is what I know. So actually I've got a yearly subscription here. I think I paid for like two years in advance. And it is the simplest plan, so you don't even need split testing. And I think if you pay in advance, it's like, I don't know, maybe 25 bucks overall. If you pay for like two years, it really, really doesn't matter whether you buy, know the entire two years plan or just month by month. Really doesn't matter if you use my link or not. Seriously, I'm not here to pitch lead pages. I'm just really trying to give you valuable advice like this stuff works. And this is an awesome tool that saved me so much time and money. Let's go. So how to build a lead page, how to customize it, and essentially I just want to focus on opt in pages, getting customer data, you know, the initial things, the beginner things, just making and keeping it simple. So inside leadpages you're gonna go into templates, you're gonna see standard and drag and drop. So standard are pretty much just, you know, hiding elements or changing some text, changing some images. But if you're gonna go a little bit more advanced, you can click on drag and drop. I just like to stick to standard because it's very simple. There's no coding required and I believe anybody, really, anybody can learn standard because it's super, super, super simple. So to make it a little bit more simple, just click here on the filters because there's a lot of, lot of pages actually if you can, well, you can click here and it's going to show you all the paid templates. So you can pay anywhere from 7 bucks to like 20 bucks to get these advanced templates but you can just stick to the standard ones. It's good enough. So it's for the opt in click here and I'm just going to show you around. So there's going to be millions and millions of pages and I think I just clicked on one of these. Yeah. So there's going to be different videos explaining hey, how to build an automated webinar funnel, a VSL or for example a cheat sheet tweak. But this one, let's just focus on simple opt ins. Whether you're a B2C business or B2B, it's going to be the same thing. So if you want to do like a quiz funnel, this is a good example. Essentially each and every one of these pages is built for lead generation, right? This is a Google Adverts compliant landing page. It's pretty cool. If you are giving away some sort of like cheat sheet ebook. This is a pretty cool landing page. This is actually a paid one that I had purchased. Let's just go to 96. All right. This is pretty cool. I'm actually going to use this. It's one of the examples. This is a pretty cool one. Same here. Let's go. If you really want to keep it simple, you can use one of these. It's pretty much the simplest that you can use or you get one of these. I mean this is the super basic squeeze page. Literally just a headline and a button. But you might want to keep it a little bit more detailed. These work also very well. But I already clicked on this one. That's probably going to give you the most amount of idea or information. So that's what we're going to edit. I'm going to customize it right in front of you and just give you some ideas. Now this one is phenomenal. I've tested this in many different markets and it's actually a paid one. As you can see, all of these are free. It has a tick because I purchased it. Right. I think it was like maybe 20 bucks. It's called a simple Facebook ad landing Page inspired by Digital Marketer and this one converts a roughly 50% plus. Now you know, I want to imply that if you use this template, it's going to convert it 50% plus for you too. But if you use any of these and you actually implement all these psychological triggers and tactics and just set up a nice good looking landing page and you should be good to go. So let's just stick to this one. The point of this tutorial is just to show you how to use a simple landing page, how to customize it for simple lead generation purposes. So I'm going to show you a couple different options that you can do. You can either just have them click the button, be taken to a different page or enter their email taken to a thank you page. So I'm going to show you all those things and then there's going to be a separate video on actually how to put and place the pixel and actually double check it as well. Alright, so very quickly there's a background video. So I believe you can find the same template without a video. You can keep the same video or you can just head over to Google and then YouTube. And if you're like a B2C company, you're teaching people how to sing or how to dance or even whatever you do, you might want to take some of your footage and put it as the background video. If you're selling like some product and if you got a nice video of that product, put it in the background. It's gonna be just a little extra positioning. If you don't really know what to put in there, you might just want to type in time lapse. And time lapses are these like, you know, recording Norway for example. Very quickly I'll show you. All right. And a time lapse is essentially this. I mean you record the nature city and it's gonna go very fast. Like these are sped up, right? So you might want to put something like that in there. Matter of fact, my main site, let me just show you very quickly, has a time lapse of New York. So you might actually get the same video and just put in there into. The reason I use New York is because it looks so cool. So you're gonna see that's New York right there is the time lapse. So let me go back and let's begin with the important stuff. So obviously a video background is just something for the eye, you know, something visual. But it doesn't really have any effect on the landing page. Obviously it does a little bit, but that's not why we are here for. So first you're gonna change the logo. If you have not uploaded your logo yet, click here. Upload new picture. Boom. Logo is right there. So we're looking at the headline here. There's also countdown timer. So this, the countdown timer might be used in a different type of funnel, maybe a double bind funnel, but right now we're just not going to use it. It's, it's not important. All right, we got the container here. We don't need that either. So let's look at the headline. The headline needs to be very strong benefit driven. So usually what I do is hey, how to instant measurable benefit benefit slash pleasure without pain, even if X. Or you can use the time. Or let me just put even if x and Y time. Alright, so this is kind of a formula that professional copywriters use. So you want to be very specific, measurable. So if you go out there, hey, I'm going to teach you how to lose weight or I'm gonna teach you how to make more money, or I'm gonna teach you how to open an online business, nobody cares. Seriously, there's no benefit in there. Maybe it would have worked 200 years back, you know, but nowadays you gotta be just more specific, measurable. As the competition increased, you know, you gotta be bold and you gotta make claims, obviously claims that you can deliver on. But in this case, if you really wanna make a point increase and you want them to take action, you need to be specific. So how to lose 20 pounds of fat without pain, something they don't want to do. So without working out, even if you're lazy, even if you're a lazy couch potato in just two weeks, you know, you might not want to often them. So take that back, take the couch potato back. But you know, as you can see, I literally made that up and it usually takes a bit of time and you know, just writing down 5, 10 ideas, 5, 10 headlines and choosing the best ones. So keep, keep in mind this is just an example but you want to give them something bold, something you know, that just calls them out. So how to make 20 grand or how to add or how to generate $20,000 per month without paid marketing experience in just six weeks. Or you might just want to stick to, even if you've never run any paid ads so far, how to turn a dollar into ten using Facebook ads. Even if you know, you don't have a big budget, right? So that's people that are afraid of, they're afraid of spending a lot of money on Facebook and, you know, going broke. And the benefit is, you know, turning a dollar into 10. So the big thing that you really want to focus on is this right here, how to get something without paying these things right here are just some, you know, additional information. So that's just, you know, gonna make it even bigger and bolder. But really what you're looking at is, hey, how can I lose weight without working out? How can I look better without eating healthy food that just tastes like shit? You know, these kind of ideas. So let me take this out. So that's, that's one of the formulas or what we also like to do is the X step system that helped me with, you know, why. So the four step system that helped me build, you know, $100,000 per month business, or the six step formula that allowed me to lose 60 pounds of fat in just two days without actually working out. Obviously that just a ridiculous example, but that's also a formula for headlines. So the nine step, I don't know, cheat sheet or the nine minute cheat sheet, something that I've got that produces 1,000% ROI campaigns in just 24 hours. So something very bold. The next line is a sub headline, essentially, or you can call it a call to action. This one is not necessary. So you can just remove that some way just not working. It's getting all right. There we go. Generally speaking, when it comes to landing pages or just marketing in general, you want to stick to simple. Simple and powerful. A lot of people are thinking about, hey, advanced strategies. People are split, testing the color of a button. And yes, it's going to lead to incremental improvement. If this button was green, and maybe you would get 2% better results, right? But the fundamentals are, first of all, what's gonna make or break your business, right? If you're offering a lead magnet that's not valuable or that's not perceived as valuable by your audience, it's not gonna work in the first place. Or let's assume that your funnel, lead magnet, everything is on fleek. It's just perfect. But when you actually get these people on the phone or you try to sell them, your offer just is terrible. You know, you don't have an irresistible offer. People consider it too pricey. They don't see the value. You know, you can do the best marketing in the world, but unless you get your fundamentals dialed in, it doesn't matter, right? So stick to simple. Remove friction in terms of your offer, in terms of everything else, remove friction. So that's why, for example, we, you know, don't offer contracts like we don't lock you in for six months. And also we offer very solid guarantees. I mean, we stick to what we believe in. I mean, we stick to, hey, we're gonna give you lots of value. We believe in our worth. So I'm not a big fan of money back guarantees. You can do money back guarantees in low ticket products or where there's no, you know, involvement in terms of you going in there and delivering stuff. So if it's like digital products, you can get, you know, you can give their money back if they didn't like it because you're not losing any time and. But if you're doing a service generally what I recommend is like, you know, performance based guarantee that hey, if you implement the work and you didn't get the results, we'll still work with you until you do get the results. Right. Because at that level, at the high ticket level, you don't want to offer money back guarantees. I'm going a little bit of script, but I thought I'd just throw this in there because it's a valuable piece of advice and it can transform your business if you just implement these small advices here and there. This one right here is your privacy policy. You might want to keep it in there. Doesn't really matter. And obviously the copyright text. So you might want to put 2016 here, company name. Right. Legal information. So you're gonna select this right here, click link and you're gonna link that to your legal link. So that could be HTTPs. Just like that. Cool. Now one last thing that you want to do is add the Facebook thingy there. So the line of code, I mean the line of text that says that you're not affiliated with Facebook. So let me just scroll down. It's not required. I think I mentioned this in a different video, but it's good to have it in there because sometimes they disapprove the campaign, not because of the ad, but because of the landing page not being compliant. And this is one of the things they sometimes require. So paste and match style. Right. So it's in there. You know, generally what you want to make this small because obviously it's, it's not really what you want them to be looking at. But yeah, that's pretty cool. You might want to remove that too. And legal information, you can just send them to the privacy policy page. So that's about how to edit the elements on the landing page. If you want to edit the style, just go here and you can change the button color and make it green, make it look cool. So it's very simple, right? Dynamic options. So background image or URL. So you can either choose an image, right or you can choose a video URL. So. So it's going to explain hey, exactly what you need to do. Essentially you just copy and paste a YouTube link and put it in there and it should be good to go. Now it doesn't end here. Let me click on save and let's just name it test page for tutorial. So let's click on Done. Click on save. Now it's going to give you this notification. You must complete the lead box integration to set up. So let me just customize it for now. Just click on. Ok, let's save it for now and then I'm going to give you the options. Cool. So naturally the goal of this lead page and the reason it's called lead page because we want to generate leads, red hot prospects. So there's several ways to go about it and I'm going to give you some of these right now. Okay. So the intention or you know, the goal in mind is obviously going to be different for everybody. So essentially where you want to begin with they just click on that little thingy there and click on link. Welcome back. The previous video cut out at 60 minutes. So I'm back and I'll just continue exactly where I left off. So essentially I was just customizing this thingy right here, the opt in form and I spoke about integration. So you want to integrate it with your getresponse or aweber. If you have an email marketing service you can also send yourself simple lead notifications. Then I talked about a thank you page, right? So this is an opt in page and on the thank you page you don't just want to say thank you. That is an option and that's a moment where they really pay attention. So you might want to sell them something or send them to a case study video. It's really up to you since. So in this case I've edited the URL to VSL and I'm going to show you the funnel in full effect in just a second. Okay, I'm just going to save it and let's publish. And I believe there was one last thing that I didn't mention in there. So I'm just going to go in there. So we got, you know, obviously the landing page click on get instant access. Now a great feature of Leadpages that I haven't mentioned yet is that they have this huge system right A lot of businesses are using LeadPages to get our emails and they have this very smart system of recognizing email. So if your prospect has ever entered their name and email into your lead page and it doesn't have to be yours, it could literally be a completely different lead page, but they entered it to a lead page, the system is going to recognize their email and when they click on this button, their name and email is immediately going to be filled out, which is a huge time saver and it increases conversions. This is also a unique feature they have and this is what sets them apart. Okay, so let me go in there, get instant access. And as you can see, I literally transferred them to thank youk page right now. It's a vsl. So you know, this video sells them something and it could be a dollar trial, it could be a $47 product, it could be a phone call. You know, obviously you sell the phone call and then in the phone call itself, that's where you pre qualify the lead and actually sell them the offer that you have. Okay, so that should explain it. And one last thing. You notice that there's a long link. It doesn't necessarily look good. It's not your brand entirely, it's just your username plus leadpages co. And here's what you can do. You can actually brand it under your domain. So when you click here and how would you like to publish this page? So you got the lead page URL, but you also got the WordPress option. So you can download this plugin, you can go inside WordPress, click on plugins, add new and just naturally normally install the plugin. If you don't know how to do it, you can just Google it. It's a very simple process. Then you're gonna go here. Chances are you might need to update this plugin. But essentially when you click here and click on Add New, you'll be presented right here. You can choose from all your landing pages or I should, you know, should say lead pages and you can publish it under your own domain. Right. So here's exactly what I've done. It's the same page, but the URL changed and it looks slightly better. Right. Obviously I can name it whatever I want, so I highly recommend you eventually do it. Honestly, it's a detail so it doesn't really matter. Just make sure you get delete page itself. Alright, so keep in mind this was a tutorial for this specific lead page, but it's gonna work for really any other lead page that you choose. So if you for example, want to choose this one. It's the same process, you know, changing up things, you know, choosing a strong headline. And you have the choice to either do this yourself or you can hire somebody else to do it for you. So we're planning out and planning to roll out like our own technician, technicians in our own team that can outsource this for you. It might not be live as of, you know, watching this video in this given moment. Maybe if you watch this video in the future, it's already going to be happening. So for now, you have the choice to either do it yourself or outsource it once again. Another example, I mean, you can see the sleep page here. Same thing. You can just, you know, select the text, change it, you know, change the font. So it's very simple, it's intuitive. It. And this is one of the templates that I've used and I actually created this from it. So let me just give you. Yeah, so template, same thing, but I've created this one right here. So you can see it doesn't really have the header, so you have the options to hide elements. That is also something important that I believe I didn't mention over here yet. So. So with this knowledge, you should be equipped to know exactly how to create and customize a lead page. There's going to be different videos on how to add the pixel and how to build a specific funnel, if that's what I advise you to do. So for now, thank you so much for watching and you have an awesome day.
