The Reason Why You're Not Achieving Your Goals

Speaker (coach) explains that conscious intentions (the '5%' of mind) often conflict with powerful unconscious beliefs (the '95%') that automatically pull people back to prior outcome levels. Uses financial goals as the primary example — wanting to scale income (e.g., $10,000/month to $100,000/month) but being unconsciously held back by fears (safety, social loss, humiliation, fear of success). Introduces a 'thermostat' or set-point metaphor: results oscillate around a habitual average until unconscious resistance is addressed. Ends with a call-to-action to learn methods for clearing that resistance.

If you want to know the deeper reason why you have a goal and you take some action towards it, but you never actually get there. You either self sabotage it, or even if you get it, then you kind of, you know, mess it up. Dude, I've been there, done that. And the answer is that consciously, the 5% of your brain, you want something, but unconsciously, which is kind of responsible for 95% of your thoughts, feelings and actions, they're really automatic. They're coming from your unconscious mind. It's, there's a conflict. You know, a part of you, let's say, wants to make more money, but then a bigger part of you says deep down that, you know, maybe it's not safe. Well, what about my loved one, my loved ones, my peers? Like, if I start making 5, 10, 20 times as much money as them, what if I lose them? What if I leave them behind? What if I alienate them? Right? I do want to make more money and I do want all the benefits of that, you know, better food, being able to contribute all these different things, travel the world, of course. But like, you know, deep down, what if I fail? You know, and then people make fun of me or I'm humiliated? You know, what if all, you know, my people around me, my friends, teachers, parents will tell me, you know, who are you kidding? You know, you're delusional, you're working hard, go get a job, this is never going to work. Happened to me many times and it was kind of painful, but I had to push through it, right? Or maybe even fear of success. Now that you have all this money, you know, you start thinking about, well, okay, what will happen to me? Will I change as a person? Will I become a greedy person? Because someone, you know, in my past told me that rich people are evil and greedy. I don't want to be that, right? So deep down, unconsciously, these things are pulling you back. So that's exactly why you may make some progress towards your goal, but then it goes right back down. It's kind of like a thermostat. It's like unconsciously you have set like a standard for yourself, like a set point that you make this amount per month, let's say 10,000amonth. Now if you want to scale that to 100,000amonth, you may make some progress towards it. But then more people than not notice that they start getting a little bored, they start procrastinating, they maybe make some more money, they splurge it, they make a bunch of dumb decisions, they lose their focus and all these things kind of happen almost without their conscious control or intentions, and boom, they go right back. And when they start hitting that lower limit, that breaking point, like, oh, my God, I only made 5,000 this month, but their standard is 10. Almost like a thermostat kicks in and starts to heat up the room, they kick into gear, they start to work again, they start to focus, they start to make the right decisions. And if you took their numbers that they're making, like their monthly income over a period of 6 months, 12 months, and. And you put it in a graph, you'd be able to see a very nice chart going up and down like that. And the average is exactly their number or very close to it. Your past kind of has defined your set points or limits, what you can and can accomplish. And no amount of willpower or conscious kind of deliberate action is really going to get you above those results until you deal with some of this unconscious stuff going on. Because, again, you may have all the right intentions. You want to make more money, you want to give back, you want to do all these beautiful things. But then if a larger part of you is simply afraid of it, says it's not safe, all these bad things are going to happen. If you succeed or you fail, then it's going to hold you back. And that's when this, you know, two steps forward, three steps back kind of thing happens. So I hope that's helpful.
