Short YouTube talk by Peter Szabo arguing that an internalized self-identity creates an invisible "glass ceiling" that limits outcomes (income, body composition, etc.). Szabo explains people act consistently with who they think they are, so achieving and sustaining different outcomes requires shifting identity at an unconscious level. The talk gives examples (e.g., believing you are a $50,000/year person) and concludes with a call to change identity to create lasting change.

Have you ever noticed that there seems to be like an invisible glass ceiling on your income levels? Like maybe you're employed, maybe you're an employer and you want to make more money, right? You work hard, you do all the right things, but it seems like you can never break through that limit. You know, maybe you do a side hustle, you maybe try to grow your business, ask for a raise, but it either never happens, or maybe it's like you take two steps forward, but end up taking three steps back. Hey, my name is Peter Szabo, and. And if that's how you feel, been there, done that, and it can be very, very frustrating to not create that lasting change that you desire. And it kind of is almost like a limbo, you know, like never really getting anywhere. And I realized it's really because of who you think you are, your identity. If deep down you think that you're a person making 50,000 a year, then you can do all the right things, have all the right strategies, get all the right courses, but you'll never gonna be able to make more money because. Because that's not who you are. You know, the greatest things I learned is that humans act consistently with who they think they are. They must be in alignment, right? So if now you want to make a hundred grand, but you're a 50,000 a year person, never going to happen. Even if it does for a short amount of time, you're going to sabotage it, you're going to splurge it, make bad decisions unconsciously, because that's not who you are. Who you are or who you think you are is familiar to you. It's your comfort zone. It's safe, but. And that's where you want to be. It's kind of like your homeostasis. It also applies to your health. If deep down you consider yourself to be a person that's at 20% body fat. I mean, you can get all the right coaches and programs and supplements, but you're never going to be able to get to 15, 10% body fat if you're not that type of a person. So I learned the key to getting the results you want and not just attaining the result, but maintaining it and making it last, is to shift who you think you are at an unconscious level. So with that being said, this is Peter Sabo and see you there.
