14 Videos Every Home Service Business Should Create [With Examples]

This is a how-to YouTube presentation by Phil Risher offering 14 practical video frameworks that home service businesses can create to improve lead conversion and customer experience. He outlines six short, one-off videos that can be recorded immediately and inserted into the customer journey (web form acknowledgement, estimate explanation, approval confirmation, post-invoice thank-you/review request, website "about us" video, and meet-the-team bios). He then describes eight ongoing video types to produce regularly—pricing guides, product/service comparisons, common questions, caveats/problems, product reviews, best-in-class showcases, new feature announcements, and before-and-after case studies—and ends with a bonus method for sourcing authentic content from call recordings or voice memos for transcription and idea generation.

If you're a home service business and you know that you should be doing some type of videos, but you don't know what type of videos you should be doing, in this video, I'm going to give you 14 video frameworks of things that you can be posting on a regular basis. The first six that I'm going to give you are ones that you can literally record right after this video in the next 30 minutes. You can record these and plug them into your sales process. The last eight videos that I'm going to give you are going to be ones on an ongoing basis and then I'm going to give you a bonus of how to actually get content for these videos. So this is going to be a great topic to talk about and let's get right into it. All right, so the first thing is we're going to talk about six one time recordings to plug into your customer journey. Again, you can do these right after this video. So the first one is after a web form happens on your website, you should send out a text or an email right away to acknowledge that you receive that web form. And in that message you can say something like, hey, send over some pictures or additional information. But the best videos to put is a video from the owner that says, hey, my name is Phil. Thanks so much for reaching out to us. Here's what to expect next. In the next 24 to 48 hours, our team's going to be reaching out to you to schedule an on site visit. In the meantime, if you could send over some pictures or additional information, that would be great. Here's a little bit about our company. I was born here, I'm from here. I did this. Da da da. This is how many team members we have. Whatever you want to share, try to keep it like one to two minutes. And one piece of advice on this, this is going to be the first time that they see you in person. So try to be energetic about the opportunity to work with them. So that's the first video web form. Send a video of what to expect next, maybe some additional information that you might need and show them what to do next. After an estimate is sent. So you went out to the house, you put together this nice estimate. You want to send out a video when you send the estimate, you can do this in two ways. First, if you're sending out very custom estimates and not everyone is the same, do exactly like this. This is called loom l o o m. I'm in your corner right here. Pull up the estimate and explain the estimate to the person and answer common questions. Hey Sally, wanted to go through the estimate with you real quick. Just to go over some common questions that people have and also walk you through exactly how I built this estimate for you. You told me that blah blah, blah, blah blah. That's why I added this over here. But this could change a little bit. Also a lot of people have questions about the deposit or this or timing of everything. So I make sure to answer that here. But I also tell you real quick, this is what you need to know. That's the first one. If you have custom estimates, do a loom like that. The second one is if you, if you do pretty standard estimates, right, you do gutter cleaning or the, you know, normal stuff that's happening over and over again. You can have a very basic estimate video that looks like this. Hey Phil here, I'm the sales VP or VP of sales or head of sales or salesperson or whatever. Owner, owner. And I wanted to go through this estimate and talk about some of the common questions that we get. And those questions are deposits, time frames. And then I also want to talk about who is a good fit for this and who's not a good fit for this. So if your home is blah blah blah blah, and you want to kind of walk them through the estimate questions, talk about things and then at the end say if you ever have any questions or you want to go through this estimate, feel free to give us a call and I can walk you through everything and I look forward to working with you on this project. That's the second video. Works great. The third one. This one, every single business misses, not just home service businesses, but every business. Since I added this into our sales process, I've gotten people literally reaching out saying wow, that's such a great idea. I never thought of that. And that is when you get an estimate approved. When you get an estimate approved in your business, everyone high fives, right? Woohoo. We got a big estimate approved. Let's get to work on this project. What we don't do is we don't transfer that excitement over to the customer and we don't tell the customer what to do next. So like what my company does for Flash specifically, when we get a signed agreement, we have a video that goes out right way, right away and we have an email that says, let's get after it. And it says, hey Phil, so excited to work with you. Welcome to the Flash team. Here's what to expect next. Someone's gonna reach out to you in the next 24 hours and go through that process. Now, for home service businesses, a lot of times people are asking a couple questions, okay, I just signed this. What happens next? What does the timeframes look like? What does the ordering materials look like? Who's going to reach out to me? When did they actually get this approval? How do I know that they got the approval and they're trying to, like, figure out what they should be doing next. This is why you should have a video there that transfers the excitement. Tell them what they need to know next. And even if it's not a video, just send them an email right away when you get that approval and tell them what to expect next. All right, fourth video. Huge opportunity here as well. After the invoice. Usually in home service, we're asking for reviews. We might have some type of a referral email or something that goes out, but usually it kind of just like you paid your invoice. Okay, we're good to go. I would recommend having a video. And this could be from the customer service manager, the customer service person. This could be from the owner. And basically what you say is, hey, Phil here just wanted to say thank you so much for choosing us as a local business. It means a lot when we get to serve our local community. One way that you could help us out is obviously by leaving us a Google review that helps Google show that, you know, we know what we're doing and helps other people find us. The other way is just word of mouth and referrals. That's how we built our business over the years. And, you know, I'm a local guy. We're all local community here. And we'd really appreciate if you could refer us to any friend or family member. Thanks so much for choosing us. That's a video that you said. Now sometimes business owners are saying, man, that's a lot of videos. Isn't going to seem like a little clunky and junky and overkill. Two things to that. First, you might do a video of a different person every single time. So initially you might have your customer service representative do the video. Then you might have your salesperson do the video. Then you might have your production manager do the video. Then you might have the business owner do the video to say thank you. So it doesn't have to be the same person every time. And also the videos are going to be spaced out. Someone fills out a form. If you have to go out there and give them an estimate, it's going to be a couple days, if not weeks, then they might Be lingering about, should I do this work or not? So then it takes a couple days and they sign the approval. Then you actually have to go out there. So like they're going to get these videos over two, three weeks, maybe even two to three months depending on the timeframes of things. So it seems like a lot of videos right now. But when you look at the grand scheme of your customer journey, it helps you stand out immediately and turn more leads into actual customers and into sales. The fifth video is on your website. Huge, huge opportunity. Because when people go to your website, they're spending like 30 seconds to 60 seconds on your website and what they're looking for is real pictures of logoed stuff. They want to see that you're legit and they want to see some reviews and just a better good experience on your site. Good user experience. Not junky, not looking old, just nice website. But one thing that you can do is add a video about us. So if you, if you're a husband and wife team or you're solo, make a video and talk about why you started the business, talk about who works at the business and talk about how you're a part of the local community and how you love what you do by telling your story. It's going to instantly connect with those people that are on your website and help you convert more of the website visitors into leads. It's also going to give you some content that you can share inside of your sales process. So when you send someone an estimate, a lot of times you should be following up with them. And one thing you do is put your about video in that estimate follow up process to talk about your business, why you started it. Here's a little bit more about us. And the last one of the videos that you can record today and put in your process is a meet the team video for your sales team in their bios. So what this means is for every single person on your team that emails customers, I would recommend in their email signature you have them record a video, pull out their phone. Hi, my name is Phil. I'm the customer service representative here at Flash Consulting. The thing that I like most about my job is that I get to help people solve their problems when they're, when they're facing it. A little bit about me, I have a daughter, she's two years old. Her name's Madeline. We really like going and doing da da da da da. I also have a wife. I've been married since, you know, whatever and I grew up here. This is my favorite food this is my favorite sport team. Something very simple like that, like two to three minutes. Why? When a prospect or a customer gets an email and they see in the email signature that it says meet me here and they click on it and they see a video, it's instant connection for salespeople. This is like a gem home run. Every single salesperson should have this in their email bio because when you're sending a proposal to someone, they want to know, can I trust this person? This is why those videos are so important, because it's telling the story of who you are. It's not just fill out flash consulting or whatever your email address is. It's actual video of you explaining who you are and talking to this person directly and telling them about who you are. So those are the six videos that you can record today. Put them in your sales process. Next we're going to talk about eight videos that are an ongoing process that you can be building into your normal routine on a weekly basis. Some of these are going to be from the book they asked you answer, which is right here from the author, Marcus Sheridan. He has these big five that he talks about and there's a couple more that I'm going to go through. I'm going to break them down in particular very specifically. So the first one is pricing. This is a video you can make ongoing, evergreen and put this in your sales process. Every single thing that you do in your business, make a video on pricing. You don't have to say our price is. This you could talk about for a new ductless system. Here's the range of pricing. If you were to go with Mitsubishi and you do a full install and you have this different tiers and this is what it's going to cost nine times out of ten in this range. And here's why. Also if you need gas hookup and blah blah, blah, it's going to usually cost this. And you break down the pricing and what they need to know. Then you take that video and you put it in your sales process, you share it on social media and you turn it into a blog post. Now you're taking your content and then continuing this flywheel of content. So pricing videos are great on every single thing. Give pricing guides and be the authority in your space. And the subject matter expert is very easy, but most people are scared to talk about it. And that's why I recommend doing these pricing guides. What makes the price go up? What makes the price go down? What makes the price different? If you buy this or buy that different tiers Number two kind of leads us right into that. This versus that. Should I get a ductless system or should, should I get a bigger H vac unit? Should I get a hot water heater or a tankless water heater? This versus that type of content. It could also even be brands, Lennox versus carrier brands or different products that you actually offer. People love this type of content and again, turn this into blog posts because it helps with SEO. People are looking for this, they find it, and then you can put this in your sales process as well. This content crushes. Most people don't do this, but it's a huge opportunity, especially if you have brands that people are searching for. Number three, common questions. So a lot of times you get questions when you're on the phone. The csrs get a bunch of questions, the salespeople get a bunch of questions. Those are the questions that you want to be using inside of content. So if you are trying to make videos, go to your salesperson, go to your csr, or if it's you, write down all the questions that you get and make videos about those questions and try to keep them concise. And don't, don't sell. Just educate the customer, just like you would normally do if you're talking to someone. It's all about educating the customer with common questions. And you know what those are for your industry. 4 Problems and Negatives with certain things. Okay, so this goes against the grain a lot. And we do this at Flash, where in our sales process we have a video that says, here's five reasons why you're not the right fit for this service, for our service. And it goes through and breaks down the five reasons why typically people that work with us fail or that they're just not the right fit. And this is exactly what you want to talk about in these problems and negatives. So you, you might say, hey, you know, you should get a duckless system, but here's five reasons why a duckless system might not make sense for you. It adds instant credibility and transparency in, into your content, into you as a business. Because you're not just trying to sell them. You want to solve the problem for them. And that's why these videos pop off so great. And I highly recommend creating these. Number five is product reviews or overall reviews. Okay? Again, you probably have products or different things that you're doing or even services that you want to talk about reviews of these products or talk about the overall. Like, is this good? Is this bad? This thing just came out. Here's what we like about it, here's what we don't like about it, here's who it's a good fit for, who's who, who it's not a good fit for. And you want to explain those things. If you're a product heavy business, H vac, plumbing, electrical, it's very easy to talk about these things. If you're more service based, it might be a little bit harder, but you can still talk about some of the products. Like if you're in gutter cleaning, like downspout drains or gutter guards and talking about those is very, very important. And again, sales process blog post number six, best in class featuring top of the line things. This goes along with products, this goes along with services. A lot of people are searching for best gutter cleaning service. And so if you have the best gutter cleaning service, you don't have to sell. You want to solve what does the top tier gutter cleaning service look like? You know, we go with a toothbrush and we clean your gutters, we take, you know, we clean them and you can't even find any dirt on them. Whatever it looks like, you want to talk about what the top tier gutter cleaning service actually looks like and explain it to them and then say, oh by the way, we do have this service as well. So a lot of people, especially affluent people, they want these best tier products or best tier services, which is what they're searching. And that's why you want to show them this inside of your video content. It's Crushes 7 new features or releases. If you have products or services, talk about the new stuff that you're doing or the new things that you have coming in and educate the customer on those as well. And the last one, before and after case studies, I couldn't get off this without talking about these. I guarantee if you take before and after pictures and just before and after pictures and you turn that into a video and you just narrate it over top of it like this, and you say something like this. Ms. Susan came to us because her room above her garage was very, very hot. She had an office there and it would overheat every single day and she couldn't even work in there. When we came in, we did an analysis and we figured out that her, her ducts were not, her duct system was not input properly. So we recommended having a ductless system and putting that in. Then we put in this ductless system. And now Ms. Susan is extremely happy because she can work in there and she can change the temperature in her office right above her garage. By the way, if you're in the Dallas area and you have a hot room in your house and you feel a similar way as Ms. Susan did, we can come out and give you a free inspection and a free estimate to show you if we can help you solve this problem for your home. Those are case studies. Before, after pictures and then just say that exact script over top of it over and over again and talk through the problem that your customer had, the unique solution that you came up with, and the result crushes people. Get too far into their head about, well, do I have to video the whole thing? Just take before and after pictures, put them in there, or before and after videos, put them in there, and then narrate it and you're good to go. All right. Told you I'd give you a bonus tip. Taking real customer questions and making content through call recordings in home service. This is very challenging. Here's what we recommend, and here's what we do. If you use call tracking numbers for any ads or anything, those call tracking. Those call tracking numbers have recordings and they have transcripts. So you want to download the recordings of anything longer than five minutes, take the transcripts. There are transcribers that will take the actual video mp3 or video or mp3 and turn it into an actual transcription of words. Then you take those words and put them to ChatGPT and say, based off this conversation, give me 10 different video ideas that I could talk about based off my real customer questions. Okay, Phil, I don't use tracking numbers and I don't know how to do all that. Okay, here's a very simple thing. On your phone, go to your voice memos and click record. Voice memos are going to record anything that you're saying. So this could be if you got on a sales call, if you got on a customer call, if you, if you take a call by phone and you just want to record it, record it. Same thing. Take the MP3, get the transcription, plug in the ChatGPT, get the questions. Now you have unlimited questions. It's this flywheel of questions, this flywheel of content. Most people are just going to chat GBT and regurgitating what everyone else has done in your specific market. I'm sure there's unique questions that your customers are asking based off of the location that you're in, the services that you offer. And I'm sure you have a unique answer, which is why people work with you. This is what you need to get to when it comes to video content that a lot of people are just relying on cookie cutter ChatGPT prompting. That's why you need to use real stuff. So I hope this video was helpful for you. I tried to lay it all out there with all the videos and all the ideas that you could do. I'm curious to get your thoughts on this. Do you have any other video ideas that are working for you? Put a comment below and I'll see you in the next video.
