How to dominate the google search engine results page

Phil Risher explains how to 'dominate' the Google search engine results page for local service businesses (example: carpet cleaning) by occupying multiple pieces of SERP real estate. He recommends: set up Google Local Service Ads (pay-per-lead), run traditional Google Search (PPC) ads, optimize Google Business Profile and solicit reviews (local SEO), create service-area pages (on-site SEO), and run campaigns on secondary platforms that rank in Google (Yelp, Thumbtack, Groupon, Angie) so users encounter the business across multiple SERP placements.

In this video, we're going to discuss how to dominate your local search market, specifically how to get every single piece of real estate on your Google search engine results page. So a lot of times when people contact us, they want to be the go to carpet cleaning person near me or in their specific location or city area. And so we're going to go through how this works on a search engine results page and I'm going to show you how to dominate this search engine results page. So this right here is called your Google local service ads. These are pay per lead model, so it's free to set up. You only pay if you get a lead. So we highly recommend getting this set up for all the companies that we work with, because you only pay when you get a lead. This is the number one piece of real estate on Google and it's only in specific markets and it's only specific for local service businesses. I made videos about this before, but if you go to Google local service ads, you can see what the cost is. And if it's in your market, then the next one is your traditional Google search, which this takes a little bit more technique to run ads, to track performance, to make sure that these are functioning properly. But if you have Google Local service ads and Google local search ads, you can monopolize a keyword based on whatever you want. So you could, you could tell Google when someone searches this keyword and they're in this area, then show this ad. So you get these top two spots and you've got that taken care of. Now the next part here is your local service pack and this is all of your off site SEO which we've made videos about before. But 36% of it is literally creating your Google business profile and optimizing it correctly, which we have videos about. And 17% of it, which is the next ranking factor is Google Reviews. So if you notice here, these three people have at least 50 and above reviews. They have a decent rating, they've been in business for a while, Google's showing them. So the years in business is not a huge factor that they found to be something that's that important. But reviews is very important and posting on there is very important and making sure that it's optimized so you can't pay for this. But this is the local SEO side of things. All right, the next part, and this is a little bit tricky because people always get lost on this part, which is, okay, this is your organic part of your website. So this is carpet cleaning. I'm located in Frederick and I just did the search as if it's near me. And so you see Stanley Steamer showed up for their Frederick location. So you could create a service area page on your website that says, yes, I serve this area. And obviously do it correctly for SEO. But this is something that we do for our clients, specifically in a local market. Now these next two things are ones that people, they kind of don't understand how this works. If you see here, this is Yelp. Yelp ranks number two in organic search for your on site SEO. And so what we always recommend is to have a Yelp ads campaign, because Yelp ranks almost on every single search term, literally probably in the top three to five. A lot of times you see it ranking number one because they have so much content on their site that they naturally just rank high. See all this stuff here? So what happens is someone says the best 10 carpet cleaning companies in whatever your location is, and they click on this and then you go into your Yelp SEO, your Yelp ads, and it all goes into there. So this is why we recommend doing Yelp ads. Even if you don't like Yelp for whatever reason, it's because people do a search on Google and they're looking through, I don't like this, don't like this. Oh, here's the 10 best. Okay, let me click on this. And then there's a whole nother section. Similarly with thumbtack, this happens as well. You can go there and find the same thing. Groupon, Angie. Right. These are why all these secondary ads services are important, because they show up on the search engine results page. By far, in my opinion. Obviously we want to do Google local service ads. We want to do Google search ads because that's number one real estate. But Yelp is, is a second tier. But it's also, you see, it can be very important to lead into more conversions. So that is how you dominate this search engine results page. You run these Google Ads, local service ads, search ads. You do the Google local SEO stuff. You do the off site SEO, which is building out service area pages, and then you layer in the secondary ad campaigns on Yelp. Thumbtack, Groupon, Angie, whatever they are in your market, Yelp is gonna probably be the best one that I would recommend outside of Google Ads. So this is how you dominate the search engine results page. This is a lot different than people saying, like, I'm running Facebook ads and that kind of stuff. This is bottom of the funnel. People that, they want carpet cleaning near me and they're looking for the best company. So what you can do is hopefully, if you work with a company like us, you can get in here, get in here, get in here, get in here, get in here. So that way, hopefully, all roads lead back to your company. And if not, at least they're seeing you several times as they're scrolling through this and saying, oh, this probably a pretty good company. So let me know if you have any questions. I'll put some links down below that could help and we'll see you all in the next video.
