A short YouTube video by Phil Risher (May 9, 2025) advising HVAC/home-service business owners that using QuickBooks alone leaves them "flying blind" for dispatch and customer management. He recounts an anecdote about an HVAC owner relying on QuickBooks, recommends using a home-service CRM (example: Jobber) which integrates with QuickBooks, simplifies dispatch/calendar, and offers customer and custom-field tracking; he notes Jobber offered a free trial and links it in the comments.

I was on a call with an H VAC business owner and he was running his business out of QuickBooks. He said that it's all dialed in, the processes are great. And I asked him how does he know about dispatch? How does he know where to go tomorrow and what his books look like? And the problem is in QuickBooks he doesn't have a calendar to keep track of all of his route. And this is why he needs a CRM. I recommended that he use a tool like Jobber. The reason that I like Jobber is because one, it's very easy to use and you can actually integrate it with your QuickBooks. So that way you can still do your accounting stuff in QuickBooks and you can use Jobber as your dispatch software. It also helps you keep track of all of your customers, specifically like with QuickBooks. With him, he can keep track of some information in QuickBooks, but he has to try to make it work. When you actually work with the home service CRM, it already has everything built in. You can use custom field, you can keep track of different things inside of the software, and it makes it very simple to use. If you're running your business on pen and paper or in QuickBooks, or trying to jerry rig something together using HubSpot, you should really consider using a tool like Jobber. I reached out to them, they gave me a free trial. I'll put it down below in the comments.
