Three Local Business Marketing Strategies for 2X Growth with Zero Budget

Phil Risher (Flash Consulting) presents three zero-dollar marketing strategies for local service businesses to drive significant growth: (1) get Google Reviews (argued as ~17% of local ranking) — he shows a six-month case where keywords in position 1 rose from 7 to 16 and total top-5 keywords from 15 to 46 while reviews increased from ~17 to ~76; associated business metrics (calls and website clicks) also rose; (2) retarget past customers and prospects via calls, emails, or texts to re-engage or request referrals; and (3) build B2B partnerships (e.g., HVAC ↔ air-duct cleaning, landscapers ↔ related trades) through direct outreach and referral agreements. Bonus: guesting at local BNI chapters for referral networking. Closing: offer of free marketing audits and CTA to like/subscribe.

If you're looking for the best bang for your buck when it comes to marketing, in this video, I'm going to give you three strategies that we implement in businesses that we've seen exponential growth utilizing these three things. And these are things that literally all three cost zero dollars. And I'm going to show you how to do them and what you can do. Now, $0 means you're not really paying to do these things, but it does take a little bit of time and work on your end and little finesse for you to do this stuff and. But it is low budget, big bang for your buck type of things. And I'm going to get right into it in this video. All right, my name is Phil Risher. I own Flash Consulting. We work with local service businesses. And the first one is get Google Reviews. Why is this so important? We talk about it on this channel, but getting Google reviews is 17% of your ranking. And so I'm going to show you this example here of this company. Six months ago in keywords, they ranked seven. They had seven keywords in position one and they had nine keywords in position two through five. Literally six months later they have 16 in position one, 30 and two through five. So now I have 46. They have 15 or 16 in the top five spots. Now they have 46. Over that time they went from 17 Google reviews and now they have 76 or 77 Google reviews. But really what I want to show you is what does that mean for their actual business? So you can see over the last six months, this is on their Google Business profile. You can see that calls, messages, bookings, website clicks. So let's just look at calls. So you can see at calls. They went from having nine calls to 37, 32, 35, and then website clicks, you can see 24, 14, 13, 40, 98. And so this is not just by getting Google Reviews. There's other things that happen on the back end. But one of the big drivers of this was getting Google reviews because that's how you rank for these keywords. And you can see the huge growth here, which is amazing. All right, number two. Oh, let me go back to get Google Reviews. How do you get Google reviews? You go to your Google Business profile. And this is probably one of the best strategies here. So go to your Google Business profile. So just type in your company. If you don't have a Google Business profile, go set it up. It's called google.com business. But you go here, you can click this little drop down here you can ask for reviews, you get this link right here. Copy this link and just send it out to people that would recommend you, whether that's vendors, people that you work with in the past, friends, family members, and send it out to everyone and get as many reviews as you can. And this is going to help you rank. And that's how you get Google reviews. Now, if you're more established business and you're looking to optimize stuff like put this into your automation. So if someone closes or completes a job, then it automatically sends them a text message or an email to get a review. That's a nice way to do this. All right, so number two is to retarget your past customers and prospects. And so if you're new to business and you're looking for bang for your bucks, the third one is going to be the biggest bang for your buck. And it's good if you start if you're just starting out. So this one is, this doesn't cost anything but retargeting your past customers and prospects. If you have a big database of people we always talk about in this funnel here, there's visibility, you know, getting new customers in conversions, which is getting them through your funnel. And then you have this big blue ocean of past prospects and customers that are just sitting here that you need to retarget and bring them back into your funnel. So a free way to do this is just literally call these people and say, hey, just wanted to say thanks so much for being our customer last year. We're planning currently for the next year coming up and we just wanted to see if you had any upcoming products that we might be able to help you with. One of the new things that we've been doing is X, Y and Z. Thanks again. You know, or if you know anyone that might need our services, we're, whatever, that's a simple way, just call these people. You could also do like an email newsletter. You can do text message marketing, right? There's a million different things you do for retargeting, but it's free. You have a bunch of people that already know, like and trust you. All you got to do is just invite them to be a customer again or refer you to be to someone else. So that's going to be the second one. Retarget your past customers. Again, free. All right. The last one is building B2B partnerships. And this is one that I'm probably the most passionate about because I've seen it literally scale businesses millions of dollars. And I'm going to break down some of the strategies that you can do. So my background was I used to be at director of business development at an air duct cleaning company. And the way that they built their business was by partnering with H Vac contractors. And again, this is totally free. You don't have to sell, you don't have to pay anything to build these relationships. So literally, the way they would go out is they would go to an H Vac contractor in the area and they would knock on the door or stop in and say, hey, I do air duct cleaning. Do you all do air duct cleaning? Or just start with, do you all do air duct cleaning? Oh, no, we don't. Do you have a company that you refer out to? Oh, no, we don't. Okay, well, I want to be your preferred partner. And because you're referring me business, I'll give you some type of a commission back, whether that's a percentage or a dollar amount, for every single job that you send me. I'll give this back to you. Oh, well, you know, we don't really care that much about getting money back. Here's the real kicker. The money is insignificant if it's 20 bucks per job or whatever, and they send you 100 jobs, okay, $2,000, big deal. The big part of this is that you get to retain the client. So let's say someone calls an H Vac contractor and says, hey, do you all do air duct cleaning? And they say, no. Well, then guess what? They go and find another H Vac contractor that does air duct cleaning, and then they turn that air duct cleaning into a contract customer, and then they retain them. And so this is a great way to retain clients. Second is that when you, in, in the H Vac world, when you install a new H Vac system, you. You definitely want to get the air ducts clean. Because if you install the new HVC system and your ducts are dirty, you're going to be blowing dirty dust through the house. And so your customer is going to be upset that the air that they're breathing or that they're seeing dust all over the house. And just got this whole new system. And so it kind of ties in hand in hand with their current service. So I told you the story, because when it comes to building B2B partnerships, you want to think about, if you're a cleaning company, if you're a lawn care, landscaping company, lawn care, who can I partner with that's going to refer me business? Whether that's, you know, patio pavers, arborists and tree care companies, exterior siding and window and door companies, fence companies. There's a million different types of partnerships. I just gave a couple for like landscapers. But there's a million different types of partnerships you can create. It's just about how can you execute on building these partnerships and get these people. So a lot of times people say, well, how do I find these companies? What I would recommend doing is going and let's say you want to work with H Vac companies. Just do H Vac company near me and it's going to pull up the ones that are near you. And what I would recommend is starting with the people that are doing some type of advertising because these people probably are larger companies since they're spending money on advertising. And also people that have a good amount of reviews because clearly they probably get a lot of business because they got Google reviews and they listen to our channel. So contact these people and then go here and do more business, more businesses and just literally go down the line here and you can literally just pick up the phone and call them and say, hey, do you want to do air duct cleaning? Oh, do you all have a vendor or partner that you work with for landscaping companies? No. Oh, I want to just like when people ask me, do you clean my H Vac unit or do tune ups? Like no, I don't, but I'd love to partner with some other companies that I could Recommend. It's a two way street here and building these B2B partnerships. So as you can see, these three things, they're all free. Getting Google reviews free. Retargeting your past customers and prospects free. Building B2B partnerships free. And I'll give you one other one that's free. That is pretty. Another game changer. This is a bonus one. Go and be a guest at your local BNI networking groups.
