Short conversational video (Russ Lowry + another speaker) defining "luck" as the intersection of opportunity and persistence. The speakers reject superstition, give family and career examples (married/birth dates, Riley the left-handed pitcher, apprenticeship/HVAC business) to show hard work, planning, and persistence create the appearance of "luck," and close with an exhortation to set goals and seize opportunities.

Here's a reminder from when we were younger.
We used to say this more often. We do now.
People would say, you're so lucky. So we'll call this our definition of luck. Our family doesn't believe in luck. We're not superstitious. We were married on the 13th. Riley was born on the 13th. Luck and superstition play no part in our family. Our definition of luck is where opportunity meets persistence.
That's how we're lucky, because we bust.
Our ass head down, get shit done.
We have plans, we have goals.
And guess what?
Somehow we get lucky because we're there. Showing up every day early, doing the.
Right thing, being a shining example. And that's what other people think is lucky. They never think, oh, look how hard that left handed pitcher worked. Taking hitting lessons, batting less, pitching lessons his whole life, always working extra, always honing his craft, always trying to get better, then he goes to college on a scholarship. They were like, oh, Riley's so lucky. I'm like, I gave this speech whenever he had a signing day at school. I'm like, this isn't luck. This is where opportunity meets persistence. He was very persistence and what persistent in what he wanted to do and he got lucky. Okay?
That's how regular people view luck.
They don't think about the fact how hard folks work and working hard will.
Pay off in the long run by.
Opportunities finding you or working hard, say Jack busting his ass as an apprentice, going to school at night. Someday, hopefully when he owns his own.
Business, people will say, oh, you're so.
Lucky you, you have your own business, hvh H VAC shop.
And you'd be like, yeah, I'm really lucky. I worked a full time job, I.
Went to school at night to accelerate my licensing. I did side hustles on the weekends.
You know, so I was putting in.
60, 70 hours a week.
And I'm really lucky that doing that.
Allowed me to buy a business or create my own business.
So that's the average civilian's definition of luck. They think you just stumble into these things. We don't believe in that.
Our definition of luck is working hard.
Being the shining example, getting shit done.
Making ourselves better people, helping other people out, being charitable and being aware with.
A goal and a plan.
So when that time comes, you seize that opportunity. Just thought I'd give you a little.
Reminder because we're so surrounded by the world these days that doesn't do any of those things. Planning, goal setting. Everyone wants to sit at home in their mom's basement and whine about how.
Bad they have it.
We don't do that. We seize control.
We make our plans.
We take control of the reins. And we make things happen by sheer persistence, determination, and having that plan to do that.
So remember all this.
Make this little reminder you can watch every so often when things get down or you think something didn't work in your way or the world gets to you. And don't forget, we're right behind you, 110%.
