Put On Your Big Girl Pants.

A short motivational YouTube monologue by Russ Lowry urging listeners to accept life’s hardships, stop complaining, and take practical steps (change jobs, start a side hustle, build skills) to regain control. Uses personal anecdotes (medical scare with wife, twins; father’s layoff; his own career transition) to illustrate resilience and growth through adversity.

Today, let's talk about a topic that's often unpopular but probably is a reason why we're at where we're at in society today. I'm going to call this put on your big girl panties. Life isn't fair. Things happen. Bad things happen to good people. Life gets tough. You'll go through trials and tribulations over your life. You'll have bosses that are just freaking horrible. You'll have bosses that are great. You'll have things that will happen to you in your personal life that you just can't make sense of. And we're not sure you know what this happened to us, but one of the things that is usually true on this is when you make the decisions and listen to some of the advice I've been giving you. You will get through this, but life is going to suck, and you just can't. You have to deal with it. Bitching and nagging and moaning and complaining and having a pity party isn't going to help it get any better. So the sooner you realize that you can control your destiny greatly, but things are going to happen. You start looking for ways to get out of that season in your life where maybe, like I said, you have a bad boss, maybe you have to change careers or change jobs. You don't like how much money you make, maybe you start a side hustle or you start your own business. You can control your time more. But it's going to happen. It's going to happen often. And it's just part of being around here. And we see so many people today that almost freeze with anxiety when things happen to them, and they want to spend all their time complaining that life isn't fair, this isn't fair, this shouldn't be happening to me. And they're paralyzed. Instead of putting on their big girl panties, getting out there and making things happen to change that situation. So if you want to be upset, you want to be mad or pissed, that's fine. Get over it quickly, get back to work, get back to your relationship, look and see what happens, and then make good things happen. You will get out of that. There's always a light within the tunnel. Sometimes it's pretty far down the tunnel. Sometimes there's a train coming to hit you. But you can get through that part of your life, that time in your life when things are so tough that you just can't understand why this is happening. Because it's just the nature of life. Things like that happen. You get through it sometimes. It's a really great thing. I mean, for example, when I was 35 and your mom was 29, and we went to the doctor and he, he said, oh, no. After the ultrasound, we thought the worst, and he said, there's twins. And it was almost the worst after your mother wailed for literally like 30 minutes. And the nurses all came in and the doctor said, leave. Turned out to be really great. We had twins and it changed our life. So you never know what's going to happen with the things going on in life. But you, you will have bad times. Bad things will happen. Unfortunately, hard things are going to happen. Usually that's a crucible, and it's going to make you a better person. And you'll look back on that, that could change and shape you into what you are today. That's the reason I have my own business, working for a major company. And seeing my dad let go after 32 years with the company who he bled for, that company shaped me into knowing that I want to have my own business. Going to get my master's degree led me down that path of thinking I could do that and then finally leav a company after 15, I think, years, 16 years that I'd been with, working two jobs, one during the day, one afternoons and weekends and nights to set myself up so I could leave. So those hard things in life you'll go through, you will get through them. You know, you just have to focus on that and not on the bad things happening to you. I hope that helps.
