Copy this Content Formula, It'll Blow Up Your Business

James Allen breaks down HIVE, a four-step framework for coaches to turn free content into clients: Hook, Intro, Value, Ending CTA. Most coaches post more without strategy, but this structure works for both long-form and short-form content. The key is moving viewers off-platform through lead magnets and email capture, since views alone don't generate revenue.

Are you creating content every single week but still not getting clients? I used to post nonstop and still had an empty calendar, but once I fixed my content, everything changed. Clients started reaching out. My audience grew with people excited to hear from me, and I finally started making some real money in my coaching business. I've also helped hundreds of coaches and experts do the same. So in this video, I'm going to show you why most content fails, the simple formula that I use to consistently attract high-paying clients, and exactly how you can turn your free content into sales. By the end of this, you'll know how to position yourself as a go-to expert in your space, even if you're brand new to content creation and don't have a big audience. So let's talk about why most content fails. Every single minute, people upload over 500 hours of video to YouTube, and more than 1,000 new posts go up every single second on Instagram. The online world is so competitive right now, so you need to know how to capture and hold people's attention, especially if you're trying to sell coaching courses and other things like that. But here's a problem that most coaches and online educators face with their content. They think that the answer to getting more business is just posting more. And most people are posting the same boring stuff, quick tips, motivational quotes that everybody's already heard, and random ideas that never start a real conversation. They're playing it safe and they're putting their audience to sleep. It's like standing on a busy corner yelling random facts at strangers. Technology! Oh my gosh. Yeah, you might get some attention, but nothing meaningful ever comes from it. Nobody is going to stop to learn about who you are and how you can help them. And that's exactly what happens when you don't have a plan for your content. It just gets lost in the noise. The real reason most content doesn't work is because it doesn't take people on a journey. It might be interesting and helpful, but if it doesn't move anyone to take the next step, like hiring you, then what's the point? Likes and views don't pay the bills. Clients do. And one of the biggest reasons your content doesn't get the attention that it deserves, or even starts people on that journey, is because your titles aren't pulling them in. You could have amazing content, but if the title doesn't grab attention, nobody's going to click. I That's why I put together a free guide with 50 catchy title formulas you can swipe for your videos, emails, or social media posts. It's a super quick way to stand out in a crowded feed and get more people watching your stuff. You can grab it totally free at profityourknowledge.com/titles, or also link it as a first link in the description. Content really works when it connects with people, inspires them to trust you, and invites them to take action. When you do that, your content will finally bring in the clients and business that you deserve. So the question is, how do you create content that actually does that? Well, there's a simple 4-step structure I use that quickly turns your content into a trust-building machine, and it works whether you're just starting out or you're already established. Now, just a heads up, I did not invent this formula. I learned it over the years from many great marketers and successful content creators, but I use it all the time and I teach it to my private coaching clients because it's simple, it works, and it helps your content actually bring in business instead of just likes. This formula's best for long-form content like blogs, podcasts, or YouTube videos, which by the way, are the best platforms to grow your coaching or knowledge-based business on. But it could totally work for short-form content as well, like TikToks, Instagram Reels, or YouTube Shorts. It's called the HIVE framework. H stands for hook. You have about 5 seconds to grab attention before somebody scrolls away, and if your first line doesn't hook them, they're gone. Now, there are a lot of different hooks that you can use, like the mistake hook, the credibility hook, the myth-busting hook, or a story hook. But two of the simplest and most powerful are the bold statement and the question hook. For example, I opened this video by asking, are you creating content every week but still not getting clients? That's a question hook, and it made you feel something like a little curiosity, or maybe even a little called out, which is why you're still here listening. The I stands for intro. This is where you set expectations about what you're going to cover in your content. Tell people what they're going to learn, why it matters, and why they should listen to you. For example, I opened this video by saying I used to post nonstop and still had an empty calendar, but once I fixed my content, everything changed and I showed you proof so you'd believe me. Then I followed it up with, so in this video, I'm going to show you why most content fails, the simple formula that I use to consistently attract high-paying clients, and exactly how you can turn your free content into sales. That's what makes an effective intro. It grabs their attention, shows your credibility, and sets up the value that they're going to get by sticking around. Coupled with your hook, this should take about 30 seconds before diving into your content. By then, your audience is bought into the topic, they're excited to learn more from you, and they see you as someone worth listening to. The V stands for value. This is the heart of your content. You're simply just going to deliver on what you promised in the title, in the intro. Break your content into 3 to 5 simple actionable steps so people can follow along and get a quick win. Keep this as short as possible but still comprehensive so people feel like they got real value without you wasting their time. The E stands for ending CTA. Here's something that most coaches and content creators never understand. When people sense that your video is ending, they're usually just gonna click away. So instead of just asking them to subscribe, use this moment to guide them to the next video or post. This is gonna make people watch more of your content, which builds trust fast because they're spending extra time with you. It's also gonna help with algorithms, understanding that people actually like your content, which is only gonna help boost more of your content. So tell them why watching the next video or reading the next post will actually benefit them and make that transition as smooth as possible. Now, if you're doing short-form content, you're not really gonna point to another video, so just make an offer to dive deeper with you as your ending CTA. I'll show you what to do for a CTA on long-form posts in just a minute. Now, I know this can sound like a lot, so let me show you what it looks like in action. Let's say that you coach men on how to get more dates using apps, and you're making a YouTube video called The Number 1 Mistake men make on dating apps. So the opening hook right when people click on this video could look like this: If women stop replying to your first message, it's probably not your profile. It's what you're saying in those messages. Then the intro could be: In this video, I'm going to show you the biggest mistake most men make on dating apps and how a simple messaging shift can change everything. I've helped hundreds of guys go from ghosted to getting real dates by fixing this one habit, like John, who went from struggling to get a single date to landing 5 in his first week using exactly what I'm about to show you. Right after that, we're gonna go into the value section and break it up into 3 major points, which are gonna be the bulk of this video. So what we can cover in this video is addressing what the number 1 mistake that most guys make on dating apps is, the proper way to think about messaging, and we'll go over some examples of messages that actually work and why they work. That's a very comprehensive post that can easily be delivered in 10 minutes or less. Then for the ending CTA, we might say something like, knowing how to message someone properly is only one step to getting the kind of woman that you want. Most guys can't even get that far because their profile sucks. So if you're serious about leveling up your dating profile, watch this video next where I break down the 3 profile tweaks that will instantly boost your matches. See how smooth that is? It makes you want to keep learning from this person, which is going to make you trust them faster and become your go-to expert on this topic. But getting watch time and views is only half of the battle. Now we need to turn those casual viewers into real clients and sales. But how do you do that? Have you ever watched a video or a blog post and heard someone mention something valuable to you and then say, links in the description. That one simple phrase is how creators are turning casual viewers into paying clients. The problem is that most online coaches and educators never think about this part. They create content, rack up views, maybe even get some comments, but again, views don't pay the bills. It's kind of like hosting a free seminar at a coffee shop. People will show up, they'll nod along, maybe even clap at the end, but if you don't invite them to book a meeting with you or join your email list, you're gonna walk away with nothing but a pat on the back. And that's what happens when you just post free value content. You've entertained, maybe even inspired people, but you haven't converted anyone. So the way we turn free content into clients is really simple. You have to move people off of the platform and onto your offers. That could be onto your website, your email list, your sales page, or even straight to your calendar link. And a great tool for doing that is using a lead magnet, a free resource that solves a real problem and positions you as the expert to help them achieve their goals. Think back to our dating example. After sharing examples of messages that work, we could promote a freebie like this. And if you're serious about leveling up your messaging game, grab my 10 Texts That Actually Get Replies guide. You're gonna get a detailed list of plug-and-play messages that you can start using to land dates this week, along with examples of why they work. It's my gift to you, completely free, and there's a link down in the description. Once they click that link, they're gonna land on a simple page like this where they can claim their free gift and join your email list. From there, you can follow up with them directly into their inbox, deepen the relationship, and start making offers. This is how online business really works. Once someone's on your email list, you have a direct line of communication to your audience. There's no middleman and no algorithm deciding who gets to see your message. That means that instead of crossing your fingers and hoping a post hits, you can consistently nurture relationships, deliver value, and invite people into your offers. And all of this can be automated. But that's how you move people from casual viewers to active buyers. And if you want to learn how to build a lead magnet that actually attracts coaching clients, watch this video next. You'll learn how to create something that your audience truly wants and how to set it up so your freebies practically guarantee new business.
