Kajabi Tutorial: Crafting Custom Email Templates

Kajabi allows you to do email marketing and they give you a lot of really cool templates, but sometimes they don't always fit your needs for whatever it is that you're working on, whether it's a product launch or just a regular email that you send out to your list. But what's cool is that Kajabi now allows you to create your own templates and then save them as a template for future use. Today I'm going to walk you through exactly how to set this up and show you just how easy Kajabi makes it for us as the creator. To get started building out our own email templates, we want to go to the marketing tab and then go down to email campaigns. From here, we're gonna go up to new email campaign, and you can decide if you wanna do a broadcast or an email sequence. Right now, I'm gonna use a broadcast to set this up. I feel like that's easier than building out a whole email sequence. So right here, you're gonna have Kajabi templates and they give you Very pretty templates, very useful, you know, kind of depends on what you're going for. If you want to do sharing a blog post, share a newsletter, announce an event, you know, they're preset and you just kind of fill in the blanks. But let's say that you want to make your own template, how do you go about that? Well, I like to always start with the simple text template, and then from here you can build and add things to it and make it look the way that you want it to look. but you can choose any one of the other templates, they're all fully customizable. For this example, we're just gonna focus on the simple text. So we'll call this a template, yeah, template example right there. Create text. Right here, this is the normal broadcasting, we're not gonna worry about that right now when creating a template. We'll go over to edit content and you can write whatever your subject line is. It doesn't really matter actually right now, 'cause all we're focusing on is just the template itself so we can save it and use it for future, um, use. We'll click edit content. And let's say that over here we're gonna have like the different boxes and sections of the email that we want to add. So you can click add section and something that I like to do, just like my kind of basic email that I send out to my list, it's very simple. I'll click logo. And now I drag my logo to the top and then I have text underneath. I like my logo to be full size, so I put this to 0. Cool. So when I add my logo, it looks nice, but you can change the size right here if you want it to be 25, a little bit— that's like super tiny. Um, 100, you know, and you can kind of play around with the size that you want of the actual width of it and then just upload it here, whatever your logo is. And then I do text, okay? And this is usually if I'm sending out like a, like a hey, I have a new YouTube video coming out, which I put out every single week. Then what I'll do is I'll do image, and that's gonna be my thumbnail image, and then I like to have a button underneath, and then what I'll also do is another little bit of text at the bottom that just says something like, 'Hope you enjoy,' and then James. Okay, and you can change the size of the text. I like 18-point font, that's usually what I do. I'll click save, go right here, so I have my button, and then say I wanna change out the button. My color is more of this blue. Okay, that's actually not the blue that I use, but that's okay. I think I have, I don't have it saved on the color wheel, 'cause this is my partner's program. So let's just say, you know, you can pick it whatever you want. Let's say yellow's your color. We'll click yellow. You wanna use that color every time we're gonna make this template. You can change up the button, the look, the feel of it. I like to use a big button and I make sure it's centered. If you wanna change out the text, you can say like, click here to watch this epic video, or whatever you want. You, I usually just put the title of whatever the video is in here and then the link to the YouTube video or blog post, whatever I want. Okay, so this is what basically just a simple one looks like. We have the logo, we can do some text, just like a little intro of what's entailed in this piece of content, the thumbnail, and they can click on the thumbnail right here, image action, and you can send them over to the YouTube video as well. So I do both the button and the thumbnail, and then just a little bit of text, hope you enjoy, maybe I'll do a PS with something like that, but very, very simple. Okay, so we'll hit save, always wanna do that. Go back to email template, now we have this built, okay, so let's say that every week you're gonna send out a YouTube video and you just wanna make very simple, use this kind of format, then you can go up here to save as template and you can say weekly YouTube video template and you can add a description if you want, we'll click create. Email has saved as a template. So we'll go back to email campaigns, template example. But if we click new email, go to broadcast again. Now at the top, saved custom templates. So instead of me having to scroll down and then click simple text again, 'cause that's how I like to build it, I can just click here and decide get started. And I'll say new video real quick, click create, and I'll decide who I want to send it to. Click edit content. And now with this new video, I can add whatever content I want, but everything's already built for me. So I can just click here, upload the image, uh, click here, make sure that the, the, it points to the right video and I can leave. Hope you enjoy. James, and I can just change out the text with maybe just the description I used for my YouTube video and literally just copy paste everything. When you put the logo up here, I didn't show you because I didn't add my logo. When you add your logo and you save that as a template, not just the picture or the image box, I guess, if you actually put in your logo and then save it as a template, every time you go into this preset template of ours, the logo is automatically going to be there. 'Kay, so you can customize the whole look and feel. That way when you get in here, you're only changing the text, the image, and then the link basically, and maybe the text on top of the button. You know, click here to watch whatever the name of your video is. 'Kay, very, very simple. It makes your workflow just a lot more streamlined instead of having to build everything from scratch again, assuming that you've kinda played with it and you find the look and feel that you like for your own business.
