Kajabi Tutorial for Beginners (How to use Kajabi step by step)

James Allen, a Kajabi user for five years, walks through launching a coaching business on the platform. He shows how to set up a high-ticket coaching offer with a checkout page, use external tools like Voxer for client communication, and later convert coaching clients into a digital course once you've validated demand.

I've been on Kajabi for over 5 years and it's allowed me to build a 6-figure coaching business without using any other tools other than Zoom, Calendly, or Canva. So in this video, I'm gonna show you how to use Kajabi step by step, even if you are a total beginner to the platform or business in general, or maybe you're just looking to use Kajabi for your current business. First off, what exactly is Kajabi? Kajabi is the best all-in-one platform for monetizing your knowledge. That's it. Everything from selling online courses, activities, membership sites, coaching programs, consulting, therapy, whatever it is. If you have valuable knowledge and experience and you wanna be able to monetize it on the internet, Kajabi is the best platform to do it on. What I truly love about Kajabi is that it really is all in one. Instead of you spending $100 every month for landing pages, another $50 to $100 for email marketing, $50 to $100, $150 for something else, and then this and then this, everything that you need is in one single tool. One password, one username with all the tools you need to not just create great products around your knowledge and expertise, but also all the different marketing assets that you need to actually sell it. Email marketing, landing pages, sales pages, your website, the product itself, uh, automations, your contact list, your CRM, everything is all inside of this one beautiful platform. So yes, Kajabi is a bit more expensive upfront and that causes people to be a little intimidated by it. But when you understand how to use it, that price becomes irrelevant because you could spend so much more money on all the different tools. I had a conversation with someone the other day and they were spending over $1,000 per month to run their business when they could have been spending $150 or $200 a month using Kajabi to do everything in their business and more than the tools that they were using. Now, if you're still on the fence about using Kajabi and you're just kind of watching tutorials and haven't actually tried it out, by far the best thing that you can do is test out the platform yourself. So right below this video, I have a special link 'cause I am a Kajabi partner where instead of getting a 14-day free trial like you would through their website, you can get a 30-day free trial of Kajabi when you use my partner link. Now on top of the 30-day trial, I'm also gonna give you an exclusive Kajabi course that I created that's gonna help you get your business fully set up if you want to sell high-ticket coaching or you want to sell digital products like passive income, evergreen sales sort of deal. I cover all of it inside of this course. Also how to set up your website and actually create a business with Kajabi and shortcut the learning curve. I'm literally giving you done-for-you templates and my own landing pages that I use in my 6-figure coaching business so that you can just plug them directly into your Kajabi account and get set up so much faster. And on top of that, I'm also going to give you a free website and funnel review from me. This is a one-on-one. One-on-one call for right now. It'll probably turn into something where I just do reviews for people, but for right now I'm still offering one-on-one sessions where you can sit down with me, we'll talk Kajabi, whatever it is that you're building, anything like that. That's what this time is for. So if you want to get a 30-day free trial plus my exclusive Kajabi course plus a free website and funnel review from me, click the link down in the description or you can go to profityourknowledge.com/kajabi. So let's actually dive into the Kajabi dashboard. This is what you're gonna see when you first get you come into Kajabi and you sign up. Now, I'm not gonna go over every single detail of Kajabi inside this video, but I want you to be aware of the platform, how things work, because it's really important. And this is where a lot of people get overwhelmed. So off to the left, we have different tabs for different aspects of your business. First, we have the product tab, and this is anything product-related, your courses, coaching, your community. You can host a podcast through Kajabi, your newsletter, downloads. And you don't have to use all of these, but this is where your products live inside of your Kajabi dashboard. Next we have Sales. So this is where you have Payments, Pricing. This is where you create checkout pages, your offers, automations, upsells, cross-sells, downsells, all the fancy terms that may overwhelm you. You can track all of your payouts that you're— this is money that you're receiving. Uh, your cart invoices that you can send to people. You can now do ACH, which is really nice 'cause that saves you a lot of money on processing fees. You can create coupons if you wanna gift someone one of your courses or you wanna do a 50% off an off-special or something like that. And you can also have your own affiliates and track them inside of your Kajabi dashboard. That's all inside the sales tab. Next up, we have the website tab. So this is where you can design your website, your overall website for your business. You can pick different templates, et cetera. Landing pages, uh, this can be like your sales pages, opt-in pages, event pages, anything like that. The navigation bar at the top and your blog. Yes, you can host your blog on Kajabi. That is where mine is hosted. The next tab we have is the marketing tab. So this is where you can send out your regular weekly newsletter or monthly newsletter. You can broadcast emails, you can create email sequences. So when somebody opts in or picks up a free ebook or guide that they can get follow-up emails automatically. Funnels, automations, events that you wanna host, and you can have different automations connected to events. Forms, all of that stuff that is marketing material is gonna be inside the marketing tab. And then we have contacts, so this is where all of your contacts live. You can reach out to people, connect with them, grant them special offers, whatever it is that you wanna do. This is your CRM, basically. I mean, the whole tool really is, but this is where you keep track of your contacts, insights, things you can learn. You could see who your top customers are and then you can gift them things. Assessments, which are like quizzes, All of that stuff is inside of your Contacts tab. And then lastly, we have the Analytics tab. I do wish that Kajabi would beef this up a bit more, and they say they have, but there's still some things that I think they could do a bit better of a job on, but they're really good at taking on feedback. You can see like your opt-ins, your sales, your gross revenue, your net revenue, all that kind of stuff is tracked inside of Kajabi, and they do a good job. I just like having better analytics for my business. So the other stuff you don't really have to worry about. This is like the Kajabi Partner Program. I am a partner with Kajabi 'cause I love it. It's the only tool that I actually do affiliate marketing for. And then you have your media library, agents, backstage. I don't even know what half this stuff is because I don't actually use it. You can also connect to Kajabi experts if you want someone to actually build out your website for you. You can hire them directly through Kajabi's little own marketplace, which is really cool. Now I know that the dashboard can feel a little overwhelming and you might think like, oh my gosh, like where do I even start? And I'll tell you where I think you should start because if I had to restart on Kajabi, this is exactly what I would do. So what most people are gonna do when they get into Kajabi is they're going to probably wander around, not really know what to do and they're going to rush over to just like building a course. They're going to click here, they're going to start building some kind of program, and then they're going to be like, oh, okay. And it feels productive because like you're doing something, but you're not actually producing the result you want, which is sales. So if it were me and I were restarting on Kajabi and I was a brand new coach, but I knew everything I knew about Kajabi and marketing that I know now, the first thing that I would do is go over to the sales tab and I would go over to pricing. Now from here, I already have a bunch of offers down here, but I would just create a new offer and I would call this One-on-one coaching with James Allen. You can get fancy and call it an actual name, but what I would do is just create an offer and then for products to sell, I would not even choose a product because this is the beautiful thing about Kajabi when you know what you're doing. You can create an unlimited amount of offers, but you are limited on the amount of products that you have. So courses, communities, you can create a coaching program inside of Kajabi, but I don't do that. I just use Google Drive. I can show you real quick actually. So I keep track of clients inside of my Google Drive and I have some clients. I have my past clients all inside of here. Mm-hmm. Um, and they each get a folder. Now I have updated my program now. I do more group coaching, but this is from when I was doing my one-on-one coaching. You can work with people and track your sales inside of Kajabi with one-on-one coaching. Now the reason that I recommend this is because this is not gonna take up a product slot, which is really awesome, but you can still make sales and you still get a checkout page by creating an offer. Okay? So think about what I'm doing here. If I wanted to create a business on Kajabi, I'd love to make passive income sales, like all that stuff, but I I know what I know now and I'm restarting. I would start coaching people one-on-one because you can, you're not gonna get lost in playing with the products 'cause there's a lot of stuff that you can do and learn and you don't even know if it's gonna work, if it's gonna sell on its own. To sell something by itself requires a lot of know-how, a lot of understanding of your target audience, what makes them tick, what makes them wanna buy, how to communicate your offer, the value of the offer. There's so much that goes into that. And maybe you're really advanced and you understand that, but people dream of making passive income and stuff, but I think they get to it too soon rather than understanding how to create active income. One-on-one coaching is active income. So if you want to sell an ebook on how to garden, you can totally do that. And like, yeah, maybe you'll make some sales, but if you wanna make some real money, I think it's much better for you to offer people to help them one-on-one. And then when you work with people, you learn more about what they would actually pay for. You create an actual program by working with people because you figure out what your system is, which is what the course or ebook should be giving them. And then sales become a lot more predictable. So I would create this offer and just have it be one-on-one coaching with me. No products. You can hit next and look, we can give it a price. So I'll just throw out, you know, some price. We'll just say $3,000. You can pick your currency, payment type. So I like to use Kajabi payments, but you can use Stripe as well. You will have to get that set up. And you can also let customers pay what they want. If you're like really new, you can be like, hey, I just want to work with people. Just send me some money on what you think the value is here. You can totally do that in the beginning. The biggest thing is that in working with people, you are figuring out what are people going to pay for. And the beautiful thing about coaching is that you have knowledge in your head. You do not need to build a massive program because what people will do is spend months or even years planning and building some course or digital product of some kind, and they're not making money. They're wasting a lot of time. And then they put in all this time, try and sell it, and nobody buys because they don't actually understand what people value and what they do want to buy. So when I offer you one-on-one coaching, I just need a calendar open. That's it. I need my phone or Zoom meeting. That's it. And then I just need to go out and test with the market what would they actually pay me for? Because if they pay me for my one-on-one coaching on this thing, then they would also probably buy it in the form of a subscription or a community or something that's more scalable and then could create passive income. So we start with active income and then create a passive income tool towards the end. So for the button, I always like to click on, I think this green, it's like money green. Green means go. You can also pick the different fields that you wanna have. So I like the name. If you want to do address, you can, phone number, whatever you want to do, but I just do name, email, card. That's it. You can also add a service agreement too, but we're just going to skip that. All right. So from here, this is going to become your checkout. So we'll hit edit checkout right up here. And obviously it's going to be very blank and simple. You can add a, an image of some kind, like I'll show you one of my actual pages and what it looks like for when I was doing my one-on-one coaching. So this is the checkout page that I used for quite some time. I do 3 months of coaching with me. It was $5K if they paid in full, and then you can also do $2,000 every month for 3 months. So it came out to $6K if you want to do a payment plan. Work with James Allen one-on-one to build a 6-figure coaching business working 20 hours a week. Get personalized coaching, lifetime access to my courses, and a proven plan to grow your business while working less. That is what I'm promising people, and I'm showing them how they can do it. Only 10 private clients at a time. What you're going to get— And I'd show them 3 months of weekly one-on-one coaching. They would get access to my courses because I had them. If you do not have courses, don't promise this. If you have a book, you can get a copy of my book. Cool. I would give people Voxer access. You can look it up. It's a really cool tool. It's like a walkie-talkie app, so you can be in contact with people. You can text them, you can send them voice notes, and it's asynchronous. Really good for in-between call support. And then also I would track their progress with a simple Google folder. Like this. So we look in Jason's, I track their calls and then I gave them access to this folder and then they would have different subfolders for like their content, their coaching programs, and I would give them things and we would build this off of like their unique folder. So it's very tailored to each individual person. And then I had a little testimonial, added some extra testimonials, a little FAQ, but that's pretty much it. And if you want to know how to add these extra pricing options, you know, you can add all this text here, by the way. So like this. Boom. Looks awesome. You can create this. I made this simple photo, one-on-one private coaching with James Allen inside of Canva, just like a YouTube thumbnail, basically. And then I also added my, my logo up here. So you can just add your logo. That's totally fine. If you don't have a logo, just make something up. What matters more is the problem that you're solving for people. So I'll hit save. And if you want to add those pricing options over here, we can go back to the offer settings, go over here to pricing, and then you can choose a pricing option. So if I'm doing $3,000, maybe I make it $4,000 for 3 months, okay? Now we can go preview this, new checkout page, and you'll see the recommended $3K one-time payment, or if you want to spread it out, not $4K every 3 months, it would actually be, you know, whatever the number is, $1,333 So they would get that every month and then they get access to the program. And this is all you need. So you think about what happens is that you go out, you connect with people, you start creating conversations and speaking on a stage, getting in real conversations with people, and then one-on-one coaching with James Allen Allen Allen. You can hit— when you're in a Zoom call and someone's like, yeah, I want to do this, then you hit get link and you just send it to them inside the Zoom call. You are not wasting months building courses and products that you're not even sure are gonna sell. Instead, you are creating value in the marketplace by getting out there, talking with people, creating a one-on-one offer, and then presenting it to more people and enrolling them and tracking the sales inside of Kajabi with an offer. Now, as you're coaching people, then you can create a digital product of some kind. So when I'm coaching people on, let's say, how to garden at home, you know, it's not $3,000, maybe it's like $1,000. They want to work with me for 3 months or whatever it is, I don't know. Then you can create your course as you're coaching people. And when you're coaching people, you can then walk them through the process and give them access to this course and build it real time as you're working with people. This is going to allow you to actually create a process because after you've coached 5 people, 3 people through a process and they've gotten results, you're going to learn so much more than you trying to just guess putting together a course. And even if by chance you sell the course, you're not even sure if people are going to want to actually go through it or get a good result from it. But if you coach people privately first and then build the course based on the coaching, then you actually have a system and you know that if you follow this system, you will get results. So you get paid to coach people upfront and paid to build your course and you learn how to make a better course and you make it faster by starting with a simple one-on-one offer inside of Kajabi. Then you go through and add in all the stuff with your course and then, you know, you can create something at, like, as you're actually coaching people and you will create a way better program, get paid to do it so much faster. Building out your course is really simple. You just go over here to Course, do a new course. Maybe it's not even a course. Maybe it's like a cohort that you want to create. You, you learn this stuff by creating what the market wants. It's not about what you think sounds cool or what you see other people doing. Like, no, don't look at the market. Look from the market's perspective and create stuff that is what they feel they need, or you know is really going to help them. And the only way you're going to figure that out is by getting out there, doing the scary work of putting yourself out there and actually listening to people, making offers to them, creating solutions for people, because that's what business is about. I see so many people blame Kajabi, but it's not Kajabi's fault that you're not making sales. It's, it's you. Okay? It's me. If I'm not making sales, it's because I am not creating value in the marketplace by making enough offers and making better offers that actually solve their problems. So when you're coaching people, then you can go through, follow the simple prompts. You can create an awesome course based on the information you're getting from actually working with people.. It'll have you set up your offer. I'm not going to go into details because I have other videos on my channel that break down how to actually create your program. What I want you to understand though is that you can start making money in Kajabi so much faster. And what a lot of people are going to do is tell you, oh, go build a course, like go start doing this stuff. I'm saying no, not yet. Do it at some point, but first prove that you have value to deliver your market and your audience. By first validating an offer through one-on-one coaching. You will make money faster. You will end up building a course way easier and faster because you have clarity. You'll create the process. You can move things around. And when the course is dialed in, then and only then you can put it out to the market and have it sell on its own. And I guarantee that you will make more money faster if you follow this process. So when I'm coaching people through YouTube, because a lot of people come to me and are like, James, how do you make money from YouTube without a massive audience? And I have workshops, I do, you know, sales conversations, I've spoken on stages about how to do it. But when someone actually decides to work with me on it, then I grant them access to my YouTube Sales Machine course. So this complements my coaching. People can go through this on their own as well. Mm-hmm. But when we have a regular weekly meeting and then people are studying this stuff in between and I tell 'em on our call, we're like coming up with the game plan, their channel, how things are gonna work, And I'm like, "Okay, all you have to do right now is go find some content ideas." So I send them the course and then they go through this one section on finding content ideas. When they found some content ideas, then they can reach back out to me and then I coach them through it. We review it, we pick some of the best ones, and then we start creating the video or packaging the video. So then they go to the next module and then they, they have to start scripting and filming it and then they publish it and post and edit and all that kind of stuff. So— So this is how I recommend creating programs and products inside of Kajabi because you're gonna make way better programs. So this is how I recommend you end up using Kajabi and building out programs. It all starts with a simple checkout page and one-on-one coaching. Now you might be thinking, okay, James Allen, that makes sense. That's awesome. But how the heck do I even get a coaching client? Well, watch this video next and I'll show you exactly what I would do if I wanted to land a coaching client as fast as possible. If you have any questions about this video or this process, process, let me know in a comment below.
