Comparison despair. It's a thing. You know what I'm talking about. Comparison despair is where you see all these people on Instagram, social media, or even just out in daily life, and they're just having success. And you know that you're working hard, you know you're doing the things that you should be doing, and yet you're not seeing that success. And you know how it is, it leaves you feeling kind of like— really what it's doing is it's halting your progress moving forward. The longer that you stay in that dip, just being a a bigger version of yourself, you're always going to be encountering challenges. It's just inevitable. And it's not always just a smooth ride. You know, there's going to be ups and there's plenty of downs. There's a lot of things that can bring us into a dip, and comparison despair is definitely one of them. It's comparing yourself to what other people are achieving, what their success is. And the thing about comparison despair that I have learned, because I've had my, my fair share of despair, it happens at times. Instead of looking at comparison despair as a negative, Let's see it as a positive. Let's transition it so we can use it as fuel to propel ourselves forward rather than staying in this rut holding ourselves back. For this video, I just want to reframe comparison despair for you. You don't know what their resources are that they have on hand. You don't know what their mental state is compared to yours. Honestly, everybody starts at a different area. You could still have things that you need to work on mentally, emotionally, that could be hindering your progress moving forward, and maybe they don't have that. Let me give you an example. I have a friend of mine who is another coach, and he and I were at the same, same coach training when we first started, and he began his business before I had begun mine because I was still in construction work. And he also had a really big following on Instagram that he had built up prior to even starting his coaching business. And then he's an amazing coach, also like releasing awesome content, you know, and I love the guy. And I had comparison despair because he's getting more success and it's like, what the heck? And I just kind of beat myself up realizing all these negative thoughts and this reel of negative emotion that was going through me because I wasn't getting the progress even though that I felt I was putting out the work. I realized, you know what, he started his business a good year before I had even started mine, and he had this big following on Instagram, and where he'll post videos, he'll obviously get more activity because he's got more people looking at his page than I did. All you can do is what you can do. Our first thing, obviously, is just to notice that you are feeling comparison despair. Like, I, I keep comparing myself to these people. And then sit down, look at yourself, ask yourself the number one question to get through comparison despair: what can I do with what I have from where I I am. Because comparison despair— you're comparing your journey to other people's journeys, and you don't know where everybody else is at. You do know where you're at though. So what can you do right now to just move forward? Know exactly where you're heading and start moving forward. It's a really simple process, and it's so easy to get wrapped up in what other people are doing. And everybody takes different time, just like different plants take longer to grow than other plants. All you can do right now is what you can do. So ask yourself, What can I do with what I have from where I am? And have an awesome day.
