And listen, never underestimate the power of a follow-up. Some of the best things that have happened to me recently have happened because I followed up with people and emails that otherwise would have gone ignored. I signed with a talent agency because I followed up with the agent and circled back on a cold email I'd sent him a few weeks before. I booked a wonderful one-on-one coaching client, in person no less, for the entire summer because I followed up on my initial outreach. Following up on things and bumping your message up to the top of the person's list is not pick me, it's not desperate, it's not cringe. It is necessary in today's world. People get busy, they forget to respond, and before you know it, your initial note has been buried. So don't be shy about following up with people. And you don't need to say, hey, just following up, and almost apologize for the follow-up. You could say something like, hey, I know life gets crazy. I wanted to follow up and bump my note to the top of your inbox. Or, hey, I wanted to check in and see if you're still interested in discussing further or moving forward. Keep it light, do it with confidence, and don't think of it like you're bothering the other person. There's so much to be gained on the other side from that follow-up, so use that as your motivation and just go for it.
