Clip from a Ramit Sethi YouTube video critiquing prescriptive definitions of "adulting." Sethi rejects material and family-structure-based yardsticks (house, car, belt) and emphasizes that each person defines their own "rich life."
It's called being an adult. Who gives a F about what you think being an adult is? Oh, so I have to own a house to be an adult? Do I have to own a car? Do I have to own a belt? What do I have to own all these things that you think being an adult is? No. So many people will talk about, and you'll find the same people, they often believe in very regressive things about family structure. And you need to do these things in order to be an adult. But, of course, your rich life is yours and my rich life is mine.
