Ramit Sethi breaks down invisible scripts, the hidden beliefs that stop you from acting. He walks through a two-step exercise: list what's holding you back (no time, no idea, fear of failure), then play what if you were perfect to see what you actually want. If you still don't want to start a business, that's fine. If you do, you know what to do.

I want to tell you about this concept of invisible scripts. These are beliefs we have that are so deep within us, we don't even realize that they're there. They're invisible to us, and these scripts guide our lives. Think about it. For a lot of us, we believe in order to be successful, we have to buy a house or we have to go to college. What do you think the invisible scripts are when it comes to starting a business? Here's what I want you to do. Step one, make a list of all your invisible scripts. I don't have time. I don't have an idea. What if I fail? What if my co workers find out and they think I'm stupid? Write them all down. And then step number two. Play a game with yourself called what if I were perfect? What if I had all the time in the world? What if I had the perfect idea? What would it look like? And what would I do? If you take an honest inventory and you decide, I don't want to start this business. Fine. But if you decide, hey, I think I can do it, you're off to the races.
