A short segment of a YouTube conversation (Grant Cardone and Ramit Sethi) where Cardone criticizes the middle class as 'naive' for accepting the idea of a middle class, and Sethi quickly objects to Cardone’s dismissive tone and questions its effect on audience likability. The excerpt captures the opening exchange and sets up a debate about messaging and class critique.
The most oppressed, suppressed, held down, lied to, tricked, naive group of people on planet Earth. The number one problem with the middle class is you guys bought the idea of a middle class.
Okay, before we even get past 11 seconds of this video, can I just say, I've been in business for 20 years and I can tell you that probably as just a general guideline, it's not a good idea to be a multimillionaire and go around saying things like, you guys, you poor folks who don't know any better, you bought the idea. I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I don't really think that engenders you to your audience. I'm not sure it really makes you likable, but then again, I'm just Ramit Sethi. I'm not sure I know what I'm talking about. Let's continue.
I'm good. I got me my job. I got me my house.
I'm not sure I would say that to the everyday person watching as you mock them for getting a house.
