There's a phrase that drives me crazy when it comes to money, and that's when people say, "I'm just not good with money. That's just how I am." I just think to myself, would you ever say the same thing to your kids? "Oh, I'm just not good at parenting." Would you even let your kids say the same thing? "Oh, I'm just not good at math." You'd say, "Hit the fucking books! You're not good at math? You don't even open your book. That's why you're not good. You never learn this stuff." And yet we let ourselves off the hook by saying, "I'm just not good with money." I would say roughly 99.9% of people who say they have never read a single book on personal finance. They don't spend any time on it. They simply use it as a way to justify their own behavior. Drives me insane.
