Use alice.com to save 3 hrs/month shopping

A short YouTube demo by Matt (from iwillteachytoberich.com) showing how to use alice.com to automate household purchases and save time. He walks through account setup, searching for products (razors, cereal, detergent), using filters and a bargain-hunter view, setting automatic reorder reminders (e.g., every two months), and mentions a built-in budget tracker and free shipping.

Hey, It's Matt from iwillteachytoberich.com. you know how Ramit's always talking about building an automated system so you can focus on the big wins? Well, today I'm going to show you a core piece that both he and I use and it's called alice.com. now the site reduces the amount of time that we have to think about buying things like crackers and toilet paper by automating our grocery purchases and getting us the best prices. Not to mention they ship it free. So let's get to it. Setting up your account is fast and easy. Just pick your gender, skip the middle step and enter your information in the boxes and you're ready to go. Now think about the most common things you have to refill. I buy Gillette Fusion power razors, so I'm going to search for those. Now check it out. Here's the shelf. On it you've got reviews, images of the product, a few other things and the price checker. You can see that the Prices come from CVS.com, walgreens, Drugstore.com, safeway and a couple others. You'll notice that while the savings aren't huge, it's still the cheapest. I'm actually down to one cartridge, so I'm gonna buy these. So we click add product, pick one quantity, remind me every two months and add to current order. Ramit mentioned porridge the other day. I don't think I've ever heard that word used outside the movie Oliver Twist. But it did get me thinking about how my breakfast supply is down to stale corn pops. Lets type in cereal in the search box. I'm going to use the brand filter this time. Let's see what they got. Captain Crunch. And last on today's shopping list is some laundry detergent. I don't know about you, but I really don't care about who makes my detergent and I sure as hell don't have time to make my own. Sorry Trent. Look at that. 157 different types of detergent. Now check this out. This is a great time to show you the bargain hunter feature under the lifestyle filter. As you can see, it shows me the cheap stuff. Let's sort by low to high. Man, love that $5.31. I'll take it. Now all that other stuff is cool, but what makes Alice really shine is the automation. Remember when I added the razors and I told Alice to remind me every two months? Well, right now it'll remind me that I need to order more cartridges before I run out. Beyond the automation, you also have a built in budget tracker which will show you how much you've spent by room and also by month. I'm Matt from iwillteachytoberich.com and that's my two and a half minute guide to alice.com.
