Ramit Sethi talks to someone who handles all the finances while their partner Jesse manages household tasks. If you want your partner involved in money decisions, you have to actually let them in on how the system works.
You are taking on managing the pet costs, the groceries, the travel, the joint housing expense. All of it. Right. You track it. So what's Jesse's role in all this?
The life we've kind of set up in the last year is I handle the finances and work. Jesse works, too. Like, my job was, like, bringing in the income. And Jesse takes care of the household, social engagements, groceries, the things we need for the home.
Well, you're getting exactly what you set your system up to optimize for, so it's not really fair to say. I want my partner to be super involved and engaged with the money when he hasn't really been a part of setting it up or managing any part of it on a regular basis.
