This simple #ADHD #hack might end your #tasklist paralysis called #executivedysfuntion #productivity

People with ADHD struggle to start tasks because low dopamine in the prefrontal cortex causes executive freeze-up. The fix: write down one small task, do it, cross it off. That dopamine hit from completion creates momentum to keep going.

Hey, do you have ADHD? Let me show you something. How many of you make a daily task list and then sometimes just sit there and stare at it? That means you're fighting executive function issues because of the lack of dopamine production in your prefrontal cortex. It's one of the primary reasons people with ADHD suffer from what I like to call executive freeze-up, or executive FU for short. So here's that daily task list again, but let me show you the critical step that might allow you to get by executive freeze-up. It's called a done list. And how it works is you simply write down one thing off your task list and then get that one thing done and then cross it off. Because when you do that, you just gave yourself a hit of dopamine and motivation. And it actually gets addictive crossing things off. So then you keep going back to find the next thing. Each time giving yourself that little hit of dopamine. So instead of getting frozen, you get motivated writing down a single item, get that one thing done, cross it off, then move on to the next item. And if you're still feeling frozen, take one of your tasks and say, wait, what do I need to do even before that? Make it smaller.
