In this solo YouTube video, Randy Dean (the "Email Sanity Guy") delivers a conversational rant about California's recent decision to prohibit the sale of new gasoline‑powered passenger vehicles beginning in 2035. He frames the policy as a response to a decade of severe climate‑related crises in the state—prolonged drought, record‑high temperatures, an extended wildfire season, and occasional heavy rains that cause floods and landslides, all of which threaten agriculture, water supplies, and human life. Dean notes that many Californians attribute these hardships to climate change driven by human greenhouse‑gas emissions. He argues that the ban is a logical, survival‑driven measure, citing Elon Musk and the proven viability of electric vehicles (EVs) as a practical alternative to gasoline cars. Dean predicts that similar "sunset" laws will appear elsewhere, expresses an intention to produce more climate‑focused videos, and invites viewer feedback.

Hi everybody, uh, this is Randy Dean, Email Sanity Guy, but, uh, I'm going to talk on a little bit of a different topic tonight, a bit of a rant discussion, um, on the new California ruling against gasoline vehicle sales starting in 2035. If you didn't hear about it, uh, starting in 2035 they are going to basically not allow any further full gas vehicles to be sold. And I can just imagine because I'm out here in the Midwest, some of my friends out here going, oh, those damn libs. But I want you to think about this. Think about what's been going on in California for like the last 10 years. Hi, friends in California. They have had basically a decade of excessive drought, excessively high temperatures for a lot longer in the year. Punctuated by a crazy long wildfire season with occasional heavy rains causing floods and landslides, which have cost the state thousands of structures, including homes, and people's lives. They also have serious concerns about the long-term viability of their agricultural economy because of a lack of available water because their rivers are drying up because they're no longer getting the snowmelt from the Sierras. That's been their decade. Oh, and by the way, they're pretty confident, like many people, that the reason a lot of this is happening is climate change and human greenhouse gas emissions. I sort of get where they're coming from. I'll tell you what, from what I've seen, I think we should expect more of these kind of sunset laws. And, um, you know, when you put yourself in, in their shoes, they're just trying to survive. They are seeing the real-time impacts of climate change in their state that are very negative for their state. And, you know, you can sort of thank Elon Musk a little bit for this too, because he's shown that electric vehicles can be a viable alternative to gasoline engine vehicles. They work, so why not stop the thing that's possibly destroying your state, your livelihood, and the future for your children? I get it. I'm actually expecting a lot more of this kind of stuff too, so watch for it. Um, I might start posting more videos about this stuff. I've been studying it, uh, through the pandemic, and I have found some very interesting data on climate science and climate change. And so maybe you'll start seeing a few more of these videos like this. Let me know what you think. Bye.
