In this short microlearning video, Randy Dean, the Email Sanity Expert, demonstrates how to start a brand‑new email conversation with a sender without replying inline to the existing thread. He shows two quick methods in both Outlook and Gmail: (1) hovering over the sender’s name to reveal a contact pop‑up and clicking it to open a fresh compose window, and (2) right‑clicking the email address in the pop‑up to copy it for use in a new message to multiple recipients. The tutorial emphasizes the benefit of a clean subject line and no prior history, then concludes with a brief call‑to‑action inviting viewers to subscribe, download a productivity PDF, and contact him for more tips.

Hi everybody, Randy Dean, the Email Sanity Expert, here again. Uh, time for another microlearning video. Not 100% sure how much time this is going to save people, but for some reason I found myself using this tip quite a bit recently. And here's the situation: you got an email in your inbox, the person that sent you the message, you want to send them a new email but not reply in line to the previous message. Basically, you want to start a new topic, a new conversation. You don't want to continue the old conversation with the old history all connected. You want to start a brand new email conversation with them. Let me show you a little something here. I'm going to pop out and go into Outlook. So I got this email and I want to send this guy a new message. Yeah. And so what I'll do is I'll open it, and if I open it, you'll see that I can hover above the email. If I hover for a second It then brings up the contact information. Now I have two options here. I can either click, which makes a new email, or watch what else I can do. This will be useful— the next one will be useful if you want to send it to multiple people, including this person. Hover, there's the email, right-click, copy email. Now that works in here, and you can then obviously use that email address in an email that's going to multiple people. Quickly grab it out of this email that you know is already right there in your inbox. Now I went out to Gmail. It pretty much works the same way. Take a look at this. Um, from right here, I can come down to Timely Man. And if I just click on this, that's going to also open a new message to this person. But watch, if I also— I can come here, hover for a second, and then come over to this and right-click, copy email address. So you can do it both ways in both platforms. Um, and Like I said, I don't know why I've been using it a lot, but I have been using that a lot lately, trying to create new conversations without old history, new subject line, new topic. Hope that one helps you. And with that, I'm going to say thank you for your time. I'm Randy Dean, the Email Sanity Expert. Whoops. Hey, look at that. I went to the wrong slide.
