Greatest entanglement of the spirit soul | SB 3.25.20 | 16 July 22 Baltimore | Gopāl Kṛṣṇa Goswāmī

In this extended satsang, Gopal Krishna Goswāmī (hosted by Prasad Raval) expounds on Srimad‑Bhāgavatam 3.25.20, focusing on the "greatest entanglement" of the spirit soul: attachment to the material body, relationships, and sense‑gratification. He argues that true liberation requires transferring that attachment to a self‑realized spiritual master (guru‑paramparā) and ultimately to Krishna’s holy name. The lecture weaves scriptural citations (Prabhupāda, Jñānārāja, Śrīla Kīpānanda), illustrative stories (Subāhī Mūrī, the king’s daughters, the prime‑minister’s capture), and practical guidance for householders and children on how to replace material cravings with devotional service. Central themes include the necessity of humility, the willingness to be corrected, and the role of chanting versus scriptural study. Repeated audience questions address how to cultivate humility, deal with lingering material faults, understand karma’s role in happiness and distress, and help children shift attachment toward spiritual practice. The speaker repeatedly stresses that attachment itself is not the problem; the object of attachment is. By attaching to Krishna, his devotees, and the holy name, one converts material consciousness into Krishna consciousness, thereby dissolving karmic results. The talk concludes with encouragement to persist in devotional service, to view suffering as part of the spiritual journey, and to view Vaikuṇṭha as the ultimate destination where attachment ceases to be a hindrance.
Chapters
Thank you. Thank you. We would like to thank you, the devotees, for encouraging. Today we leave here and I'm coming back after 3 years. Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord. Praise the Lord. This is called Nirmala Sahib Kova. And at that time, we will be able to talk over But let's see. We're going to take precautions. Let's hope that COVID doesn't touch anyone. And I advise everyone to take precautions. We hear a reading from Gloria Hindu Vachanskar. And we read about a wonderful dialogue that took place between Woman whom? Mother. Mother. The mother knew my son is not an ordinary son. The mother knew my son is— what is he? A Premonitionist. So she asked, "If that is right," You want to obtain answer to question, you just don't approach anyone who has experienced it. "What was the goal of life?" You approach somebody who is Self-realized, who knows the mission of life, control over mind, etc. So Kabir Dev is an incarnation of the Lord. "Awaazaan." What else I mean, represent the spiritual world. She, in the earlier verses of this chapter, asks this one. She says, "You are my transcendental I. Isādu is the transcendental I for the neophyte." What does it mean, transcendental I? It means you are the source of spiritual wisdom. If you want spiritual wisdom, you should go to the right soul. And if you go to the right soul, you get the right answer. And if you go to the wrong soul, you get a wrong answer. So she knew that her son would give her the right answer. And my husband had already left to go and practice meditation for to see and hear my transcendental life. So the spiritual master, or the sadhu, is a transcendental life in the sense that he transmits to you the message that is coming from me Where? Guru-parampara. It's like in an ashtakāra movement, you follow a certain parampara. And in the parampara you see everything is repeated as it is. Prabhupāda, for example, only gave us what was presented by H.H. Prabhupāda. H.H. Prabhupāda only gave us We receive from this principle. So that is the beauty of spiritual umbrella. When Prabhupāda came to New York for the first time, he was facing a lot of obstacles. And people told him, "Swāmiji, people are not going to listen to you. You should also modernize like us and don't give any strict principle, original principle, Prabhupāda did not compromise. His mission was not to attract a chief following. Mission was to present the teachings of the Lord as it said. So deva bhūti, inquiring, is something we should all be inquiring. Just like Parikṣṭhamaḍa. Parikṣṭhamaḍa was Kṛṣṇa. You die when? 7 days. When? In 7 days. In 7 days. So what was Prasad Raaval's inquiry? What should one do? What is Bhagavan do? Die. We are all going to die. Today, tomorrow. If anybody thinks that he can avoid death, that's simply an illusion. These days you see so much misery in society. And you see so many wars, etc. And people are so foolish, they still can't read the writing on the wall. What is the writing on the wall? Which is like nothing but verbage. So one is intelligent, seeks guidance. And Prabhupāda Gosvāmī and Śrīla Dhāna Gosvāmī, vācchete nama bhagavata. I don't know Kenny, what did he say? Society considers us to be very intelligent, but Kenny, I don't even know who I am. So Devahuti's question are being answered in this section of the Bible. And what did Gopīladeva say? Gopīladeva said that why should Tāṣa was the attachment to home, attachment to one's birth, and naiṭṭhaṁ, attachment. So in the absence of spiritual knowledge, we are all attached to the body and the— and what else? The extensions of the body. The body and the extensions of the body. We like to think that these relationships will never appear, these relationships are eternal. But everyone who's had any of these relationships knows that they're temporary. So Kṛṣṇa Devī replied, what did she say? Every learned man knows that attachment for the matured, educated, intelligent of this person So we are all so attached, and this attachment has been described here as the war, as the greatest entanglement we can assume for, and further to say, the same attachment that you have for insurance should be transferred to what? Your attachment to me. In other words, the period they were teaching us how to be attracted to the positive and abstain from the negative. That is Vedic philosophy. The Vedic philosophy very bluntly gives us enlightenment on what's right and what's wrong. For example, in the scriptures you read about So many stories, as in the Śrīmad-Bhāgavata. Śrīmad-Bhāgavata is nothing but a storybook. It tells you stories, stories which have a powerful message. And why is this? Because the Lord knows what is the greatest source of entertainment. Therefore, The Bhāgavatam, there is a story of Subāhī Mūrī. You know the story? Maybe you know the story. Subāhī Mūrī was a very powerful yogī. These days you have yogīs, but they don't have any mystic power. In the past, These yogis had genuine mystic power and they could control the whole planet and perform other miracles. So one morning I was practicing meditation underwater. And you are practicing meditation deep underwater. Deep under water means Very easily as you know. That's like submarine. What is submarine? What is that? Underwater. Underwater. A ship that goes under the water. But Subāhī Brāhmin was underwater 3 or 4 levels, and he was meditating. While meditating, because he was completely ignorant about the needs of his body, he grew long beard, long hair, etc. So he was in meditation and he saw two fishes. Male and female mating. And when he saw them mating, he completely got bewildered. And he started thinking, "Oh! What am I doing? When I was getting under water, this is what I should be doing." He came to the palace of the king and said. The king had 50 daughters. He said, "I would like to marry one of your daughters." The king saw Vaiṁurī, long beard, long nails, long hair. He looked like a janmī. The king said— the king was very tactful— he said, "I can't force my daughters to marry you. If any of them want to marry you, they won't. I have no objection." So all of his daughters closed and banged the door. So he ordered a fool. He knew what was at home. He knew that, very ugly, and therefore the king had his daughter, a pretty, good-looking girl. So he said, "I will become such a handsome man that no one in the entire planetary system will be able to match me." And by mystic power, Became what? Very handsome. And not only did he become a handsome man, he constructed 50 palaces at the same time. And he became so handsome that when he showed up in the palace, the other 50 sisters started fighting with each other. He said, "I should like to do the boyfriend." The other one said, "No, I did it for him." They all fought. In the end, he married all the 50. Then he saw that this absorption, or this path of sense enjoyment, didn't really give him any happiness. He broke his meditation. He was deeply meditating, and because he started thinking about the joy of sex life, he completely got devoted, distracted, and he— the meditation broke. So here is all. Now, another very big The same mistake. And he paid with his life, and Prasad RAVAL is paying with his meditation. Now the story is there, and there are other stories also on this theme. What Prasad RAVAL is trying to make us understand that don't waste your valuable human life in, of course, we have to engage them in something. Transmute them. Engage them in something productive. Vṛṣṇa consciousness means engaging our body, mind, and senses in service to the Lord. And if we engage them in service to the Lord, what happens? We get purified. We need to purify ourselves. Om beghānti vināśriganāñjana. But for all these ignorants, But by the mercy and the association of Prasada, we wake up to reality. Devotee's enquiry is very genuine. She wants to know, "How can I give up this entanglement?" And she thinks, "We should get attached to self-realization." What does it mean, get attached to? Help your life go. What does it mean? What does it mean? Follow the instruction. Follow the instruction. Vāpo'invāni. Vāpo'invāni. Vāpo'is temporary. Vāṇī is over. We should get in touch with spiritual instruction. Prabhupāda dedicates the first canto of the Bhāgavata to his spiritual master. And he says, "It lays forever my divine instruction." And the followers live with him. So I really surrender to the spiritual master. A spiritual teacher is surrendering to the instruction. And if he did expose some temporary glorification, that's not the real fruit. If you get attached to what is spiritual instruction, and if you get attached to spiritual instruction, then you get attached. So what are the spiritualities? Instruction. So this is a most important activity, chanting the holy names of the Lord. And the holy name can be chanted in any situation. It's more beneficial to chant the Holy Name than to read. So Holy Name is coming from where? From the spiritual name. So the attachment should be to the spiritual instruction. One is chanting the Holy Name. The other is reading the books. Prabhupāda very much favored reading these books very much. You will work as many times before. And what's the result? The result will be that you get attached to instruction. These books contain knowledge, spiritual knowledge. And the spiritual knowledge is coming from where? The spiritual world. It's coming from the spiritual world. And by cultivating this spiritual knowledge, me. So Lord Kṛṣṇa is telling this to Mādhmādhā. And Mādhmādhā was enquiring, "Please describe to me how I can fulfill the goal of God." Prasāda is saying, "By practicing the teaching of the saintly people, getting attached to the saintly people, and the desire for devotees of God." Without a devotee to have the opportunity, a devotee who will live with him. Prasada Maharaj has undergone insurmountable difficulties. Prasada Maharaj, you know, one of our spiritual heroes. In material life, people have heroes. In spiritual life, we also have heroes. Prasada Maharaj is a spiritual hero to us. Into advanced devotee. So Prasad RAVAL underwent extreme austerity to prove his loyalty to the Lord. And why was his father, in English, Prasad? Why was he? Why was he? Because Prasad's father tried to stop Prasad from executing Bhagavan. Of course, he was asking, "Hey man, what's your identity of Prasad? What you're thinking of?" "Shh!" And what was that? Most people will say, "Oh, he was demon," as I heard. Because the Kṛṣṇa told him, "You are a demon." Well, he was a demon. What was he? He was a devotee playing the role of a demon so that he will please His Personality of Godhead. That's the whole topic. So Prāśmadāsa, Prāśmadāsa for the Lord. Prāśmadāsa. "Dear Mother God, show mercy for these amīras." He described to me privately, "Oh, any benediction you may desire." And what did Prasad say? Prasad said, "My dear Lord, You want to give me some benediction?" Some benediction. "Please give me this benediction by which all my material desires may be fulfilled." can. When Prasāda says, "Please give me the benediction with all my material desires may be, may be removed." That is the benediction. Jñānārāja also had to undergo so many difficulties. So the Lord asked Jñāṇārāja, "Jñāṇārāja, for My sake you underwent so many difficulties. Tell Me." "Prasād RAVAL." What can I do for you? What is your desire? "My dear Lord, You want to give me a benediction? Give me a benediction that I may associate with Your devotees." "Give me a benediction that I may associate with Your false souls." Because if I do associate with advanced souls, I'll receive knowledge which is beneficial for humanity. That should be our goal. That the Lord may benedict us so that we can crush our aumitrism. And we associate with advanced souls. We associate with advanced souls they're going to get advanced knowledge. So we have to endeavor in such a way that we get spiritual association. And this spiritual association is very, very important. And our goal should be having desire to serve Vaiṣṇava. Serving Vaiṣṇava is a great privilege. Serving Vaishnava doesn't mean you serve the guru. It means you serve all the Vaishnavas. And Bhaktisiddhānta ṣrīla Prabhupāda told us forward, each of you should, at the end of the day, try to see, "Ame vaishnava adhyasya." Means that each of us, every day we should have a goal, or at least serve —ex-Vaiṣṇavāda. So the point is, our goal should be to serve the Vaiṣṇavāda and cultivate the mood of humility. We read this again and again in scriptures. We read the importance of cultivating the mood of humility. Humility means what? Who wants to offer a petition? To be strong for Kṛṣṇa. Huh? To be strong for Kṛṣṇa. Well. Humility. Speak softly of 100 and above. Prasad? In one letter you told me we should be humble till death. Yeah, but what does it practically mean? Corrected by others. Yeah. To get corrected. Okay. To get corrected, directed. Very often it is pride. We don't like being corrected. We don't like being directed. We don't like being told. "Prabhu, this is not right." It's going to be like that. You feel offended. But if you have some humility, then what will be your approach? "Please tell me any discrepancy that you see in my behavior. Please tell me something for which I can give more attention to devotee service." In genuine humility, You are anxious to be corrected. You are anxious to be directed. You are anxious to be told what you should do. Normally I am frustrated. Don't tell me anything. If you tell me something, it means you are in need of something. But actually we should be happy when somebody gives us spiritual guidance. Of which you can pick which one you want. Prasad RAVAL is saying, "Every learned man should know." Who is a learned person? A learned person is one who has a PhD degree. He may have a PhD degree, but he doesn't have a spiritual degree. One who understands the mood of life. He is a learned man. And every other dimension no more. If we remain entangled or attracted to materialistic people, then what's going to happen? If we remain in the samsāra of birth and death, and if you transfer that attachment to a saintly person, and then that attachment can open the doors for the liberation. In the Prabhupāda purport, Prabhupāda gives example of, what, cats and dogs. In the Prabhupāda purport, Prabhupāda gives example of cats and dogs. Remember, Prabhupāda says attachment cannot be real. It has simply to be transferred. Attachment for material things is called material consciousness. Attachment for Kṛṣṇa or His devotee is called Kṛṣṇa consciousness. And then Prasāda says further, we see that if someone has no object of attachment, if he has no children, then he transfers his attachment to cats and dogs. Who? You know, it's at least here, living in India, we are getting attached to having dogs. So in the Western society also see a prominence of cats. In fact, there is a competition going on with the cats and dogs. Sometime the cats, or sometimes the dog. Point is, you need some activity. We need some positive engagement. And if we engage positively, then that will help us to achieve. So Kṛṣṇa was telling His mother that, "My dear mother, you should cultivate Krishna is my Lord. And how do you elevate Krishna Lord by associating with Krishna's spiritual followers? So this principle of association to achieve our goal of self-realization is there in all the scriptures. Somebody has often quoted, "A man is known I want to become a saint. I want to become a saint. A person recognized by whatever association he will have. So Prabhupāda made a point that one should be interested in spiritual association. And this spiritual association has with— So we should be anxious to have spiritual discourses. We are so fortunate in ISKCON. You have branches almost in every corner. Branches in almost every corner where Krishna knowledge is being imparted. And if you don't have a branch, you have Vaishnava's presence. Anyway, if you don't have Vaishnava's presence, you have the chance of the books of Prasada Raaval. Which gives us imposition. So, Kṛṣṇa Deva is explaining to His mother that in the association of devotees it is easy to cultivate spiritual life. Just imagine if you had a situation where you had no devotee association, then the spiritual life would be easier, difficult? But if you have association, you become needy. So associate. And when we associate, we associate with the intention of getting inspiration and knowledge. We associate with the intention of learning something which will help us to do our spiritual service. And the spiritual path also we have to learn. We may know Kṛṣṇa is Supreme, Śrīla Hare Kṛṣṇa is the medium, and Bhāgavatam and Gītā-dhyānsa, that much we know. But we have to go more in depth into these books. And if you read these books, then what will happen? Then intelligence will become sharp. When a sāmānta does this, you get disconnected from what is right and what is wrong. So Lord Kṛṣṇa, in this chapter, in this chapter, a very beautiful portion, the Lord Kṛṣṇa is saying, talking about the importance of spiritual association, how by associating with spiritualists, You can make which one you want. So we should, we can run little bit slower. So we, it is possible, yes it is possible. Kṛṣṇa says initially, "Ibhi śubhir māyā." Māyā, overcome this illusory energy. It is very difficult. To overcome illusory energy in this world, There's a limitation. This is the field. So what hope do I have? Any hope? Prabhupāda, when he came on the ship, when the ship anchored in Boston, he showed the captain of the ship, Gṛhṣṇa Pandit, took Prabhupāda by stroll through the city of Boston. And Prabhupāda makes all these deep entanglement of the materials, he says in German, Papa concluded, we will listen to this message of Prasad Raṇi. We will listen to this spiritual message. But then he said, but by the mercy of Prasad Raṇi everything is possible. Then he endeavoured. What happened?— in which we had a special evolution, or whatever. So the point is, we need spiritual association. And in spiritual association, spiritual life becomes easier. So we should be willing to endeavor. And spiritual foundation is built on what? What is built on? Śrīla Nāmādhya. We've heard this a thousand times. Śrīla Nāmādhya's name is the foundation of Kṛṣṇa. And if you have a strong foundation, then the building is also strong. And if you have a weak foundation, then the building is also weak. So we hear, prāhama, of everything. That we should associate with Kālī. And if you do that, then you will learn the philosophy of, you learn the philosophy of Kṛṣṇa consciousness. So we should endeavor. Without endeavoring, nothing is possible. Sometimes we say, "I came to Kṛṣṇa consciousness." Why is this disaster happening to me? People say that sometimes. Some basic, you know, something unfortunate happens, something tragic happens, we get bewildered. Why did it happen? We don't, we recognize, we forget we have a history of karma. And based on our history of karma, We get our quota of happiness and distress. Prasād RAVAL said in the Bhāgavata, "You're not going to get one drop more, you already did this to me." So, you don't owe it never. We're going to, according to our taste of karma, our happiness and distress. Happiness and distress. Yes? —girakūṣa, all the great ministers. And therefore, we should not think, "Now I've come to spiritual life, and there'll be no misery of any kind." And if some misery happens, what does the devotee think? What does he think? Does he think? He thinks, "Ah, it's a mini-tantram." There was once a prime minister, was very spiritual, and he would always go hunting with the king. The king would go hunting, and I was talking about— the king got captured by the dacoit. And the king got captured by the dacoit, and the dacoit was very greedy, very dull for him. They saw that two fingers of his hand, they said, "Oh, Gandhi offered two fingers of his hand." So he came back, the King told him, "For liberation, raise a prime minister." He was right that there was no other leader for independence, so he Told the king, he told the king, "There are things here. I went out hunting. I got captured by these dacoits. But these dacoits did not kill me. But they saw that, so my fingers were amputated." So the prime minister asked the king, "But you are so pious. Why did God, why did God undertake me? Why did He take me?" And He said, "If I were gone with you, I would have been slaughtered by all my father's brothers and died. But because You didn't take me. So sometimes we have difficult moments, we get bewildered, and we expect the Lord will be our order supervisor. But we should come to the path of devotional service. Viṣṇṇabhaktānena skāma evaḥ. And then, tasya mṛtiṣṭhiti-gāmin. Devotees of the Lord who engage in pure devotional service, they're always faithful. And the others, mukti-mukti-sevigāmī, they are what? Sānta, sānti people. So our goal should be to engage in the pure path of devotional service. And the Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam is guiding us how to follow this path of devotional service. And in the association of devotees, it becomes easier to cultivate spiritual life. And our ultimate goal should be to get attached to the Holy Name, to get attached to the proper, to get attached to the principle of devotional service, to get attached to trying to become humble. And God helps those, those who —Lord is living in us, He has awakened in us. So, really, He is instructing all of us through the medium of His mother. And these questions and answers are absolutely superior. It's not that these questions and answers are only applicable to people of one country or one— everyone. And we should endeavor to get attached to the Holy Name. And the Lord has really begun an endeavor. Prasad Raaval says, "You take one step towards Kṛṣṇa, He will take ten steps towards you." So, This is serious. And we should not waste a minute. A minute wasted cannot be made up with the wealth of the entire world. So that is some substance of this course. We can have some question and answer if you want to study. Asking question is very important. How far you stop? What is that? And Prasad, just question, what does that indicate? What does that indicate? You're listening. You're judging. You really judging. Prasad inquiring, "How can I conquer war?" Mitchell then says, "How can you engage in spiritual warfare?" "How can I make spiritual advancement?" He's saying in mature life. We are constantly endeavouring, "I can't become a rich man." So we should be endeavouring for becoming spiritually rich. And how is that possible? By attending here, asking questions. Thank you. Very good. Very good. Very good. Very good question. Question? Yeah, over there. Yeah, hold on, we'll try to get you wireless mic. You can say it loudly and I'll repeat it. Just talk louder. The question is between surrender and faith. Which one should we catch? Faith has to be there initially, and that is when the embalmment is working on part. And then, for the death of the faith, there is always love. It has to conclude in surrendering to the Lord and His principles. I can have faith that Kṛṣṇa is Supreme, but if I don't act in such a manner, And when it's finished with the Lord, then that's the ultimate. Krishna in the Īdīñcaruṣa-gītā says, "Āvādhamaṁ prayajyatām reyaṁ." "Dāṣana-bhāvaya-muktiyaṁ rāmaṇa." "Free of all versions of religiousness and surrender to Me." But Kṛṣṇa doesn't say, "Having faith is enough." He says, "You have faith." and you turn it to me, it means you do what I want you to do. Then you'll come to me. I'll say, "Māsviddha." Is that right? Is that right? Yes. Yes. So my question is that if someone is trying to follow the process of 'Hatha Kriya', following all the instructions of Guruji, but before leaving the body, it's attached to this material body, or any type of 'Anartha' is still there, it still will come back to body? The question is, if we're practicing the path of 'Hatha' and we're chanting and we're serving, but we still have some anārtas left, some desires, something left, can we still go back to Godhead? If you are sincerely endeavoring to remove these anārtas, then suppose accidentally you die, God will certainly feel mood. You sincerely try, then the Lord gives you this strength. I can fool you, you can fool me. We can't fool Kṛṣṇa. Kṛṣṇa knows how genuine I'm instructing him. Yeah, turn on. It's turned off. I turned it off. Swami Prasad RAVAL, you emphasize humility. So how one can develop humility? It is not easy to develop humility. So how much can one develop? Nothing is easy in life. One point you must understand. Say for example, One is the same in schooling. Then two, you have to make an effort. Isn't it? And if you don't take the Krishna consciousness, you remain in the cycle of birth and death. And you think the cycle of birth and death is easy? No. The cycle of birth and death is unbearable, Prasad RAVAL. If for one second You had to experience the pain the child undergoes in the womb of the mother who would die. It's so painful. That is so painful. So nothing is easy. But easier is surrendering, surrendering, surrendering to Kṛṣṇa and doing what He wants us to do. Rāma-mūrtapa-svarūpa-saujatīna. What a chance in this situation, you know, man? Joyful. So, unfortunately, society today is so degraded, it tells people, "You are going to become another animal in exchange." They say, "I'll take it." Sometimes we become very proud and we don't go to the temple. We don't associate with the devotees. We say, "This temple is all for abāhā." The devotees are also proud and we testify by abstaining from the temple. So what happens? You yourself become the loser. If we don't associate with devotees, we are the losers. If I don't go to the temple, Kṛṣṇa is not the loser. I'm the loser. I'm wasting this valuable rare opportunity. So we should understand that if I can cultivate humility, directed by the Vaiṣṇavas, there is no māyā principle. We have to make an effort, and we must really mean, "I'm ready to be enlightened." And all the sages, if you read the Vaiṣṇava literature, you'll find that This principle of humanity, it is good to hear all of them, all right? All of them say it, because it is so important. Okay. I'm sorry. I have a question regarding to attachment. How can we give up our own bodily attachment? We have attachment to other people, but how do we give up our own bodily attachment during the time of death? Our own bodily attachment, what do you mean by that? For example— Give attention to your spirit soul. For example, I'm attached to this body. Why? The body is a vehicle through which I can serve the Lord. So naturally you should go to Very good quote. Śrīla Kīpānanda said, "Three things will never be given up." What are they? Death, disease, and fire. If you have some disease, Śrīla Kīpānanda says, "Take care of it. Take care of it, because through this body you have to serve the Lord." We take care of the body. We don't take care of the body to further expand our understanding. We take care of the body because I need the body to chant the Holy Name. I need the body to engage in the work of God. Is that right? Prasad Raaval. Prasad Raaval. I have one question. My question is, you brought up the idea of karma, the way they code happiness and distress. So the understanding, everything is based on karma. You do devotion, you get a bhoga. You kill animals, burn the hair of the animal, you die. So how do we explain Prabhupāda's telling us about unkindly death? How can something be unkindly death based on karma? My question is, how do we explain untimely if everything is based on karma? Baba speaks about timely death, but if I kill an animal, I get killed also. How can I kill untimely? Well, this happens from what I experienced. The next life is always decided. It's like when you're walking, You withdraw one step from the land, place it, uh, when one feet on the ground. But that comes when your life is already decided. And I know, I know, sometimes that we, we may be thinking you may die when you're young, or It's a great fortune you are here with us. I have a small question. How can we stay strong? We are currently engaged in devotional service. How to engage, how to remain strong? How do you make strong— I don't understand your question. And try to have the mood of a servant of the Vaiṣṇavān. That will help you to jump in the mood of this meditation. Yeah. Yeah. Hare Kṛṣṇa. I always say that Your Guru Mahārāja, You are a lotus feet. Thanks so much for giving the association despite so many difficulties. I have a question, like being a Grestha, talking the attachment and detachment, like being the job and Grestha, we attached so many things, and how to like keep detached from them? And detachment like that not to leave them, or how to understand being a Grestha attached to the "Nirvāṇa" doesn't mean if you have children you just become unattached. You don't care what happens to them. You do your duty. Give them education. Look after their health. How they educate and nourish them. These essential duties should be performed. We don't have to be— sex, ex-sex will be— You should give them spiritual education. We give our children best of material education. No one talks of spiritual life. Prasad RAVAL says, "Do not become a father or a mother or a teacher You know what? If you can guide your dependent, that's bad for you. Okay. Mājja, at work we have to associate with so many kinds of people. How can we avoid becoming influenced by that association? Like we have said, we have to associate with those who are executive person, or maybe more detached. Of course, we can choose the company we want to keep. For example, some association is unavoidable. Some is avoidable, it's just my problem. So you associate those who are more advanced, and you have to associate those who are, those who are socially entitled. You should minimize them. It's like a bookish union. Goes with his spirit of work. He can try to set about engaging in prajālpa for a long time, or he can just speak to the point and quickly. So, it's not an anomaly for him to be totally associated. We have this association with all the Mahārāja people. We had no alternative. We had 100% Kṛṣṇa conscious society before we had anything to eat. So, chānta-grhārī, this chanting will be your insurance against the threat like this. Like I said, Devīśa-kṛṣṇa-māyā-māmumāyaḥ. Om adhvaṇa-māmumāyaḥ prabodhanne māyāmadāṁ traṇḍite. You send it to me, and with surrender I will give you the jaya-jaya. It would be great if everyone we work with also devotee. Even when we're going to preach, there are many, many rules. Hare Krishna, Guru Mahārāja. Nāmad kām. Please accept my humble obeisances. My question was that I may do my devotional service with humility, but I will still have material faults and desires in my heart. Such devotional service acceptable to Lord Krishna? We have each other, and frankly, Buddha, he said, "Oh, that will help you to all come there together." Krishna gave you, he identified, this is your disease. In this lecture, when you feel like you may go to the hospital, when doctor say, "You have this disease," you say, "Give me a pill." "Sorry, didn't give you the pill." Kṛṣṇa said, what is to do? This is the third chapter of Kṛṣṇa's very famous letter. Arjuna wanted to know, how is one compelled into sinful life? What did Kṛṣṇa say? Kāma said, "Go away." Arjuna went away. Then the last time he came, "Where is this enemy located?" Well, my intelligence is— then Kṛṣṇa tells you, "What is your wisdom?" So Kṛṣṇa is so kind. He tells you where is your problem and what is the solution. Guru Mahārāja in one of his prayers, he uses the term kṛṣṇa-dvaitara. Kṛṣṇa-dvaitara then says that you can only approach the Lord when you are materially exhausted. Guru Mahārāja, it's hard to understand that. That means, that means, you may have the God experience of the Lord, then you also have to realize the Lord. That I want to continue in spiritual life. And that's how it is terrible. Like what is unfair. If you're not really thinking, I want material life and spiritual life both, that must end. So if you are sincerely exhausted, "No, I want to remain in this material agenda." Then, Prasād RAVAL. Then you should go to Prasād. There's no point in getting initiated by one such guru if you're not determined to follow. Now what is to say? The only thing is keeping— people are keeping dogs as a pet. You will have a guru as a pet. You really need to surrender. Sadhguru: So, then there is value. Please accept my humble obeisance. I have a question about— you were mentioning about karma, how even though we call it devotional service, we may have outclassed karma through which our actions are affected. But at the same time, we also hear often that By devotional service our karma is eliminated, we don't have any more. So how do we understand? By devotional service, patience and deep surrender, karma gets eliminated. But that doesn't prevent you from committing faults in life if you don't do surrender. If you stay on the spiritual path, then the negative actually won't reopen. But if on the one hand I am pursuing spiritual life, the other hand I am pursuing material life, then, then, then you can always have it. Okay. Hare Krishna, Maharaj. Prasad Raaval, all glories to Śrīla Prabhupāda. In today's world, for the kids, how can we help them to transfer the attachment from material or sense gratification to the spiritual or devotional service? Because just outside the home, they encounter a lot of other kids, lot of other people with more attachments to the material things, gratifications, sometimes it's very hard. Do you have any suggestions or any recommendation? What you're saying is, what you're saying is it's hard to give up material attachment. For the kids, for the kids, you know, how can we help them transfer the attachment from material to the Just like people attach, get attached to emotional things. They want to get attached to the Holy Name. Want to introduce the children to the Holy Name. When they will take to the Holy Name. So, get attached spiritually. We don't say, "Eva." All material attachments. But even those that are detrimental, chitta nirmāpabhū, when he was instructing, Prasad RAVAL, so many things. First principle, what is that? Accept everything favourable. Second, reject everything unfavourable. So, just like in material life, you do what's healthy. We don't know what others have. Why is everyone scared of COVID So, okay. More questions? We have lots of questions, like 6 or 7. Maybe we can extend tomorrow. Do you wish to continue, or, um, I take one more question and stop. Question is, if the sadhus are here in the material world and their association is like Vaikuntha, then what is the purpose of going to Vaikuntha? Why do we want to go to Vaikuntha? That's the origin of Vaikuntha. That's inevitable to— Of course, in an advanced stage of devotional service, you don't really care where you are, as long as you are engaged in service. No worry then. Fear, you will not have also. So when you are in God stage, you are ready to accept whichever is the desire of the Lord. You don't make any deal with Kṛṣṇa. Hare Krishna Maharaj, namaskaram. Thank you for nice class, Maharaj. My question was partially asked, you know, but there was about the happiness and distress, Maharaj. So I wanted to ask about how the pure devotees like Pandavas, Mother Devi herself, the devasis, pure devotees like Prasad Raaval, So sometimes from the material side we see that they had the suffering in their life. So how do you relate that suffering with the genuine suffering of the traditional saints? Sometimes we also can't understand why someone suffered. Prasad RAVAL, the Self-realized, he could not understand Why the Pandava had to undergo such great misery? The point is, a good devotee of the Lord sometimes may get promoted also, but there is life, there is suffering. Okay. Hare Krishna.
