Live Evening Lecture | 29 July 2022 | Toronto | Srila Gopal Krishna Goswami

In this live evening lecture Srila Gopal Krishna Goswami, with participants Prasad Raval and others, expounds on the description of the ancient city of Dvārakā in the Śrīmad‑Bhāgavatam, arguing that its opulent yet nature‑aligned design represents the ideal human civilization. He cites archaeological findings that support Dvārakā’s historicity and contrasts the Vedic ideal of "simple living and high thinking" with modern materialism, industrial exploitation, and environmental degradation. The talk repeatedly emphasizes that true progress comes from utilizing nature’s gifts in service of the Supreme Lord, cultivating devotional practices such as regular reading of the Bhāgavatam, chanting the Holy Name, and associating with devotees. A Q&A segment addresses practical concerns: how a departing devotee should reassure those left behind, whether milk consumption aligns with dharma, and how to balance future financial planning with simple‑living principles. Throughout, the speaker weaves scriptural citations, personal anecdotes, and contemporary observations to illustrate the relevance of Vedic philosophy today.

Sarva, all. Ritu, seasons. Sarva, all. Vibhava, opulences. Punya, highest. Riksha, trees. Lata, creepers. Ashamaya, with hermitages. Uddiyana, orchards. Upavana, flower gardens. Aramaya, pleasure gardens and beautiful parks. Vithā, surrounded by. Padmaakara, the birthplace places of lotuses or nice reservoirs of water. Increasing the beauty. Translation: The city of Vartakuri was filled with the opulences of all seasons. There were hermitages, orchards, flower gardens, parks, and reservoirs of water breeding lotus flowers all over. Please repeat. The city of Dwarkapuri was filled with the opulences of all seasons. There were hermitages, orchards, flower gardens, parks, and reservoirs of water reservoirs of water, breeding lotus flowers all over. The perfection of human civilization is made possible by utilizing the gifts of nature in their own way, as we find herewith in the description of its opulence. Vārṇaka was surrounded by flower gardens and fruit orchards, along with reservoirs of water and growing lotus— There is no mention of mills and factories supported by slaughterhouses, which are the necessary paraphernalia of the modern metropolis. The propensity to utilize nature's own gifts is still there, even in the heart of modern civilized man. The leaders of modern civilization select their own residential quarters in a place where there are such naturally beautiful gardens garden and reservoirs of water, but they leave the common men to reside in congested areas without parks and gardens. Herein, of course, we find a different description of the city of Dvaraka. It is understood that the whole dhamma, or residential quarter, was surrounded by such gardens and parks with reservoirs of water where lotuses grew. It is understood that all the people depend without bidding on nature's gifts of fruits and flowers, without industrial enterprises promoting filthy huts and slums for residential quarters. Advancement of civilization is estimated not on the growth of mills and factories to deteriorate the finer instincts of the human being, but on developing the potential spiritual instincts of human beings and giving them a chance to go back to Godhead. Development of factories and mills is called ugra-karma, or pungent activities, and such activities deteriorate the finer sentiments of the human being and society to form a dungeon of demons. We find herein the mention of pious trees which produce seasonal flowers and fruits. The impious trees are useless jungles only, and they can only be used to supply fuels. In the modern civilization, such impious trees are planted on the sides of roads. Human society should be properly utilized in developing the finer senses for spiritual understanding, in which lies the solution of life. Fruits, flowers, beautiful gardens, parks, and reservoirs of water with ducks and swans playing in the midst of lotus flowers and cows giving sapsha milk and butter are essential for developing the finer tissues of the human body. As against this, the dungeons of mines, factories, and workshops develop demonic propensities in the working class. The vested interests flourish at the cost of the working class, and consequently there are severe clashes between them them in so many ways. The description of Advarka Dham is the ideal of human civilization.
Om Gyan Samadhiyam.
Hare Krishna, Hare Krishna, Krishna Krishna, Hare Hare, Hare Rama, Hare Rama, Rama Rama, Hare Hare.
You are Krishna entering in the city of Dwarka, and the previous chapter described in all the parts of the book. And what we are reading in these verses is the glorification of God. In Bhagavatam, we read about the opulence of Dwaraka. In the Bhagavatam, we read about the opulence of Dwaraka. Is this a fiction? Some people say, "Oh, it's just imagination." because the description is so often that the material mind can't comprehend it. Krishna has installed Yudhishthira on the throne. Men have appreciated the Lord, and the Lord has installed King Yudhishthira. You know, the Lord's desire And the king rules over the planet. Because if the king is God-conscious, there is prosperity in society. And ruler is not God-conscious, then what do you see? You see everyone unhappy. You see their material nature. It's holding supplies. It's like these days you see, the world is running out of natural resources. Why? Because of the idiots that are causing it. So Krishna installed the condition on the boat and so on. Vyaswadeva has also departed and Krishna is headed towards Dwarka. Dwarka is the Even today, the city of Dwarka is existing. We have a temple there and many devotees go and pray, come there. So about 30, 40 years ago, the government of India had commissioned the archaeological department investigate and look into if these palaces really existed. And they did a very extensive work, digging deep underwater, and they found the remnants of palaces that were there at that time. And Dwarka, non-fiction, non-imaginary, civilization. And as a fact, this was the outcome. We're here, and what are we reading? We— this is Jagadguru Kapuri, who's still in the open world stage. And Prabhupada says, perfection of human civilization is made possible by utilizing the gifts of nature in their own way. The purpose of society is when we use everything in service of God. Dwaraka, Kṛṣṇa had it for Dwaraka. In Dwaraka, Kṛṣṇa had how many palaces? 60,000 years. You may say, "How is it possible?" But God, nothing is impossible. Gobindamāli prasādam, māmāmāmājāna. I worship the Supreme Lord with the cause of all causes. And the Supreme Lord has various characteristics which are explained in the Brahmāṇa Gītā. Advaita, Matruta, Manali, and Andalupam. The Lord is Advaita. What does Advaita mean? Beautiful, beautiful English word. He is a shooter. What does a shooter mean? Infernal. Never missed it in Hindi. And Andalupam, he can manifest itself in various forms. For example, it appeared once as half man, half lion. And when you explain this to the modern civilization, they will say, "How is this possible?" Many years ago, the court case, Hescon was facing, and the prosecution God, Bhakshera, Allah has no name, no proof. My Lord, this is a God. Ah, that's not right. And naturally, before the jury, Prasad RAVAL also said the same about God. When he revealed it, he's saying the same. He can imagine himself a variety of forms. And all these forms are called the Vedas. He is the oldest, but he appears ever youthful. Madam, Madam, if you want to understand the Lord just by studying the scriptures, you will not be able to do it. There are so many scholars, but because they don't take to Prabhupāda bhakti, they are unable to comprehend the actual nature of the Supreme Lord. So here Prabhupāda is telling. When he said to the woman, "Do you know Mahāprasāda?" "Yes, I read in the Vedas, but not being able to understand." "No, but if you spend it to me, then in fact I will watch your service, then you will be able to understand." That's life. In our Kṛṣṇa path movement, we have devotees, we never study the Vedas. They are executing the path of bhakti. They know that this is the problem. On the other hand, you may have very qualified individual, academic degree, they don't execute path of bhakti, they can't understand the law. Because when they say the law, you will take the path of? So, Krishna is calling everyone, Dwarka had 16,000 inhabitants. And Dwarka was very opulent. You can't even imagine the opulence. And Dwarka was very opulent. And the citizens of Dwarka were all very happy. These days, what do you see? Is there harmony between the head of state and the population? No. But when the citizens of Dwarka heard that the Supreme Lord was coming, they all dressed themselves very opulently and they all went to receive Him. Love. He says, "What do you see?" When the head of state is coming, all the roads get blocked, all the entrances are closed. Why? Because they are fearful something may happen to the head of state. But in Vedic history, if the nomad kings were greeted very warm. And here you see, this is another Dwarka. They all came out with red dress, you see. So, in this book, in this chapter, we are reading about Dwarka, the upper land. There was 69, 180 palaces, and Krishna expanded and become into big Nārada Muni's form. Lord can expand Himself. Lord likes to be the Lord, to be the eternal. Now, Nārada Muni had heard about Krishna, but when Nārada Muni came to Dwarka, he wanted to test Krishna. What did he see? Kṛṣṇa was present in all the palaces. In every palace he was engaged in performing a different activity. In some, he was doing the administration. In some, he was playing with the children. In some, he was performing different and one of the famous pasandas of Dwarka is the pasanda Sudama Brahman. Sudama Brahman was materially very poor, and a Brahman remains satisfied in any condition. So, he's now a Brahman. He did not blame anyone. He just saw that according to his karma, he didn't want to deserve, and he was satisfied. A genuine Brahman is satisfied in all conditions. So, his wife, his wife knew and her husband and a rich friend. She was in a mood of, "Why don't you go and meet your rich friend?" And that was implied that he was going on favours from a rich friend. So, Sri Ramana finally agreed to go to Dwarka to meet his friend. Sri Ramana Maharshi, as he was leaving home, guru's one cup, he asked his wife, "I can't go there empty-handed. Give me something I can take with me as a gift." They were so poor, she scratched the whole house. She couldn't find any gift that could be given. And what did she do? She went to the neighborhood and took some greens, and she gave this small packet of Brahmin to a particular Hindu person. She said, "I'm Brahmin. You too? Bye." Krishnamurti was riding his wagon, and he came to Krishna's— he came to Krishna's hut. Krishna offered the arm rub. His clothes were all dirty when he came walking, and his servant was surprised when he saw This is Amma Brahman being greeted so warmly by Krishna. Krishna washed his feet, showing that how to receive a Brahman. And then they started recalling the childhood days. And then, 'Sudha Brahman.' He says, "Sri Lama, did you bring any gift for me?" And Sri Lama hesitatingly gave him this small gift, and he was enormously happy. So they recall the time of Prasad Raaval, how they both served their Guru. What will I tell my wife now? I came, he left me. And now when he arrived in the war camp, no, when he arrived in his residence, what did he see? He saw that his house had become a pedder. His wife wasn't with him. Assembled to one side, but very gracefully he was present. And then he ended with that, "This happened by the grace of his friend Krishna." So Krishna performs many different types of activities, and these activities are all devya, godly activities. Dwarka and Sishupalarniya palaces. Each palace was decorated with gold. These days everyone likes the gold color, isn't it? Gold color is one of the most popular, most common color. Why do they like it? Gold is associated with opulence. So, in Suddama and Dwarka, these are Krishna's palaces. The gold was real gold. Real gold was in these palaces. So, Krishna, in this Dwarka, Krishna decided to You part from the mārtā, you are happy there. Then you just stay in the shore, in the stone. So Prabhupāda is saying in the purport, what is perfection of human civilization? Utilizing the gifts of nature in service of the Lord. We utilize gifts of nature in service of the Lord. Then that is perfection of human life. What do we see today? Are we utilizing the gifts of God, the service of God? No. And what are we trying to do? We're trying to exploit the gentle nature of the physical. Today what do you see? You see that The world has overexploited the resources given by God. For example, we have so many diseases, there is a big concern about pollution, pollution of the atmosphere, the carbon dioxide levels. To prevent pollution from increasing. Why? Because if you have, the environment is not in control, then what happens? Then what you see today. The Mother Earth, they get overexploited, and what happens? Then there is when the laws of nature are broken and there are epidemics. You should say, "Mukhayam." And then everyone will leave and it will be finished. So, Vedic philosophy is simple living and high thinking. You live simply and think high. Then God's resources will be there to protect us. Or it will be the other way round. What is that? High thinking, high, simple living, high thinking is the way to follow. You live simply, you think high, I am very cheerful. If you are thinking high and living simply, Glorious Creed. And in reality, we will see in society high living and simple living. What does high living and simple living mean? You will live as opulently as you can. High living. And regarding spiritual values, Regarding— regarding simple values, live simply. And you are thinking about, okay, realize the purpose of human life. So human civilization should utilize the gifts given to Bhagavan by God for spiritual realization. And if human civilization merely is for living and high thinking, then they won't have— You may be seeing more earthquakes than ever before, more floods, disasters than ever before. Why? Because a lot of God sending broken. He wants to— you can see one unemptied— Krishna said, last time I breathed, a sea had a shaking. Example. But you could remember this. They contribute to one fellow's And man's greed is so intense, they want more, more, more. If you live simply, depending on the earth, the cows, you can have a very peaceful society. But if you want more, more, and more, like you can see in any household, even in a One guy can do all the work. That was before God. He won material opulence. And when you go beyond fulfilling the necessities of life, then what happens? The generator goes on strike. When generator goes on strike, wow, I was holding the plug. Therefore, humanity should be used Human resources should be used to serve the world. And our guiding principle should be simple living, I think. If we are living simply, then we have time to cultivate spiritual knowledge. And if we are just living opulently, then what will happen? We won't be able to cultivate spiritual knowledge. So, in the purva prabharaṣaṁ, he is describing the glories of Gauḍḍa and the prabhakṛti families, the seniors of society. For their own comforts, they will have, they will just all posture, and they don't care. But in the area they live, there is no— there is only modern amenities, and that's where they want to stay. But materialist, just using these resources to serve. We witness it in modern-day society. We witness it. You are witnessing today one disease after another today, one disease after another disease, one disaster after another. In the last 30 years, the earthquakes are taking place at a frequency is not far, very high. The boy is running under water, that is because of exploiting material nature, or greed. Greed has no limit. Greed is no limit. Therefore, in spiritual life, you are content with what is provided by the will of the Lord. So, Dwarka, Dwaraka is being glorified here, and the citizens who came to greet the King, came to greet Dwaraka Kṛṣṇa, went full into the hula. Just like when Lord Rāma returned to Ayodhya, over there, that is, to the Supreme Court. And his father asked him, please, would you go to the forest to finish penance? Prasad RAVAL immediately agreed. And then after being in the forest, living almost 30 days, Prasad RAVAL came back. He was beaten very warmly by the citizens of the UK. So the king used to protect the citizens, and your father might have protected the citizens. And today, what do you see? Do you find that our rulers are worried about our welfare? No. Well then Lord Ram would go in disguise to see citizens when they complained at all. And he said if you complain fairly some— what I can do? Then you get good fortune for them. So Lord Ram went to see them. Gave all the jewelry they had to the Brahmana. Brahmana accepted the gifts and then returned it to the king. They said, "Let him be fully satisfied by seeing your devotion and gift." And he then became— so the citizens, with respect the citizens would respect the leaders, and leaders would be the children, would treat the citizens like their own children. So here you see a similar pattern. The citizens are receiving the king in Dwarka. Dwarka is fully open. Everyone, every citizen is happy because they are engaged in serving the Lord. So, human civilization should be used to serve the Supreme Personality of Godhead. And human energy, I was saying here, Human energy should be properly utilized, developing senses of spiritual understanding. So human society should be used for what? For, for individual principle, and then society will be happy. So Dvārṭa is not fiction, it's a reality. Started, and Krishna had 16,000, 108,000. We were all fully decorated, and the opulence was there. Why? Because all the citizens had a common goal. Eka Ishu Krishna, Maha Krishna. A common goal, we serve the Supreme Lord. So from the Shiva Bhagavatam, Bhagavatam, we get information about Varka and the other pious kingdom. You said, Śrīmad Bhāgavatam has one purpose, to give us knowledge so that we can make spiritual progress. And we read the Bhāgavatam every day. Regularly reading and hearing the Shreem Brzee Mantra with his head. Regularly reading and hearing the Shreem Brzee Mantra with his head. What will happen? What will happen? One then, in expression in the heart is destroyed. And what is the biggest motive of service? Makes sense. Regular reading of Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam is highly encouraged. And here we see that if you read it regularly, then the contamination of the heart What is the obstacle to spiritual life? The obstacle to spiritual life is the demand of the senses, mind and intellect. In Bhagavad Gītā, 3rd chapter, Krishna says, Arjuna says, "How is one compelled to pursue life even unwillingly?" And the Lord replied, "It is thus only." the only loving enemy of living entity. It's always burning like fire in the heart of Prasad Raaval. Then he says, this last is operating through what? The mind, does it say? And then Krishna says, kill the natural enemy with the weapon of knowledge. With knowledge you reject, and that is the fundamental block for spiritual advancement. And how do you get this knowledge? How do you get this knowledge? By reading and hearing. So, you should cultivate spiritual knowledge. When you regularly cultivate spiritual knowledge, then what happens? Then, mind and senses get purified, and then purified senses can serve the Lord. So, we must make it a point to read the Bhagavad Gītā every day, and especially those who live in the temple, they must read Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam daily, ending bhāgavatam, will enable us to have love of God. So, Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam is the ripened fruit of Vedic knowledge, and Vedic knowledge is for our purification. So, in the Bhāgavatam, we read about How society was stabilized, how society, everyone was happy, because the Lord was in the center. If God is in the center, then there can be prosperity. So, our goal is what? Make spiritual advancement. We make spiritual advancement If we endeavor, we have to make an attempt, and reading the description of Dvārṭa, we get purified. And we get purified by the power of spiritual knowledge. By reading and chanting, we get purified. So, Dwarka was very beautiful, Dwarka was very opulent, and God is— Prasad RAVAL said, "The word God can be used only on a personality who has accepted opulence, which one Ananda Devi was." "Aishwarasya samaras." He is the wealthiest of all. There are so many wealthy people, but any wealthy man say he has 1600 women in 8 palaces. Anyone say that? Have you read in history, any book, any Pushkari? And so many others. So, Aśvarya Tirtha Mahārāja, the Lord is one, who is the richest of all. Then, we as Āyurveda society, we are the strongest of all. We are strongest, the most famous, the most beautiful. The Lord is more beautiful. His opulences are repeatedly given. He is the most knowledgeable and the most renowned. The one who has these 6 opulences to an unlimited degree, he can be called Lord. So Lord Kṛṣṇa has the Supreme Personality of Godhead, and He appears and performs superhuman activities. So Śrīla Prabhupāda is again describing the opposite of Dvāraka. And Prabhupāda compares the opposite work up with the activities of the human civilization. The human civilization, with the help of spiritual knowledge, is just utilizing God's gifts for self-development. And when you exploit the true nature, you know what happens? Then society suffers. Then the is the source of their miseries, and society is punished. Today, the whole world is in turmoil, mainly because they are forgetting the law of God, they are not practicing the law of God. So we, the Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement, have to make people realize that our ideal philosophy should be Simple living, I think. Not that you live so high, very polished deal. Why? You want to have— simple living, I think, is our goal. And the mutual goal is high living, I said one thing. And you should have the comradeship. And the comradeship also What was it? Simple living, simple thinking. So, in this whole chapter, we are reading about how warmly Kṛṣṇa was received in Gokula. How the citizens decorated him in a very handsome way. They all went to receive the law, and they were joyful in receiving their law. So this is the situation when the leader is more conscious, then the citizens also become more conscious. And mine were the citizens, so into the essay never happened. They knew that Kṛṣṇa is the idol king, and therefore they gave so much love to the king, they came to the Bhāgavata. So by reading the Bhāgavata we gain knowledge about spiritual history. And Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam is not presenting any fiction, but it is presenting the reality. We should have faith, and our faith in the Bhāgavatam is always going to increase as we read the Bhāgavatam. The more we read, the more our faith will increase. The more we chant, the more our faith will increase. Attachment with the teachings of the Holy Name. We should show Nama Keṣana, a very important aspect of the path of spiritual development. And show Nama Keṣana means hearing and chanting and hearing about what the meaning is and applying it in our day-to-day life. We should not think that It's not everyday. It's not everyday. As I went to the airport and by— and by regular reading, our knowledge will get sharp and we'll be able to discriminate between what is right and what is wrong. Hare Krishna. Any question? Can you speak? Yes. Question is about simple living and high thinking. Simple living may mean that not using the car, or Yukta Vairagya means using the car for the service of Kṛṣṇa. So can Yukta Vairagya be the simple living? Simple living doesn't mean you keep running that wheel on the road, on the railway track. A austere condition. Simple living means you minimize your body needs and you are satisfied with the minimum, minimum, minimum needs. And high thinking means I'm thinking about the higher values of life. I'm thinking about the work away. I'm thinking about it, what do you say to it in service of the Lord? And it's simple, I mean, you apply differently to different people. The brahmachari, he is living in a temple, well then it's simple, he can wait and sleep on the floor or wherever he came from. But for some devotee businessman, he has to maintain a certain status and You find that the exploitation of nature for our material comfort. Prasad Raaval.
Hare Krishna, Maharaj. When someone has been in an association for for some time.
I'm sorry?
When someone has been in an association for some time, and— but now this person has to leave for some higher purpose or better purpose, so the people who are left behind are usually anxious or possessive or they're feeling separation. It could be good, it could be bad. And so what should a person who is leaving should do to make them feel that it's just for a higher purpose and I do care, I do understand, but I have a better reason to leave? Like for example, Krishna left Gopis in Vrindavan too because he had some goals and he made attempts too.
But what on this material platform What should the congregation do to make them feel we care? Make who?
Could be anyone, it could be family, it could be friends, it could be workplace, it could be devotees living in the ashram and leaving. So, what should they do to make the person who is left behind, to make them feel that we care and I have to go? Usually when you are—
make it short, make it short. Okay. When people are leaving, leaving, yes.
So there is an insight amongst the people who are left behind. They feel separated. They don't want that person to leave. For example, when you leave, your disciples would be anxious here, right, that you're leaving. So what should the person who's leaving should do to make them How can I make them understand that I have to go, it's for a better purpose?
Well, it's common sense that everything is temporary. For example, someone is departing and we are lamenting. In a Bhagavad Gita, it is said, "A wise man has no lament when living or dead." Yes. One who has greater understanding is not a man. He knows that in time we all get there. Whereas someone who is ignorant, very ignorant, and go on and— therefore he is a very great personality. He becomes a great personality. Then you end up PRASAD RAVAL. Yeah, Maharaj, you were explaining the wonderful life if we live very simply, and especially if the whole society is using the gifts of God in God's service. But we're so far far from that in this world. Even living in the temple, there's so many environmentally things we do that they're not ideal, using certain resources. And so I'm just wondering what practical steps can one take who's living in the ashram and maybe one who's living outside to work towards a more— a life of using resources for God's service. That is simple and high thinking. Then regardless of the ashram you are in, that image is very explicit. As I said, for Prabhupāda, he used a niyāti, a simple living standard, definition. You be mōṣvik. You will live simply, you eat simply, you die simply. Prasad RAVAL, for me, he has helped me to Me, Lord Caitanya, and one another thing. On the way, we stopped at the house of his brother-in-law, Śrīkānta. Śrīkānta, he is a danduswami, very open, like that he was. His father was always came to Manhattan, thought he wanted to dance. Amazing. Not just anyone. Looking at his music, sure, it was an idea. But then the search began. He wanted this love of the masses. He was always not happy. And he really as an orphan child, we went to Mangalaganga. There was an old man, old Bengali man. He said, please take my torn quilt, please take my torn blanket, please take my blanket. And actually, we had torn quilt. The old man said, are you joking? I'm going to give you expensive charter to me in exchange for my gold and silver. So when Saddam Hussein went back to North Sudan, which is not too far south, and he didn't have that expensive charter, Prasad. He was very happy. He said, a good physician does not cure a disease and then a symptom remains. So on the devotional path, thank you, Vishweshwara, you cure this non-disease symptom. So, Heavy practice. And for a householder doing business or who has, who has responsibilities, etc., he stands up simply behind me and he starts the living simply. So— is a question. The same dilemma will apply differently to different individuals. If someone has a very big job as well, he may have to preserve his body because he's doing the job to feed his children. Yeah. Hare Krishna, Guru Maharaj. So I have a question.
In Krishna Leela, we see many devotees, pure devotees of the Lord, try to test the Lord. For example, you mentioned Narad Muni testing, and then also we see Brahmaji in Brahma Bhagavan Leela could not believe. So how do we understand that pure devotees of the Lord are trying to test him.
Is it Kṛṣṇa's līlā plan or they got illusioned by Kṛṣṇa's energy? The Lord and His own devotees play the role of demon and God, and it is His own desire. When Jai Vijaya occurred, the humanas realized They made a mistake encouraging such a religious force. They wanted to withdraw that. The Lord said, "No, the mind is there, you can't make it less than that." So, even though the period was of 3 months, I knew what He was about. But living in harmony with the nature, should we drink milk or not? Nowadays the cows are being harassed for the milk. What is your suggestion about milk? We can't get the Hinga milk where we are staying, so it is a problem. The moral society today has a vegan, vegan, vegan, They only plan, or they only take in energy from the world. So the question is, if these cows are not fully protected, there will be weather agents who can manipulate and try their best to get them somewhere. Prasad Raaval. Hare Krishna. Thank you, Prasad Raaval. You mentioned that nobody can understand Kṛṣṇa before he surrenders to Him. So, can you say what is it stopping someone to surrender to Kṛṣṇa? Could you say, tell us, what is it that stops us from surrendering to Krishna? Maya, material attraction. It's like you have a diseased body and every time you get a better doctor, you will not have anything left. Group of devotees, the Holy Name of the Lord is sweet like sugar candy. The passion of the Lord is sweet. The instruction of the Lord is sweet. But because at times he is afflicted with the disease of avidya, ignorance, he can't taste it. Then, as he recovers from avidya, he recovers from his disease, You can experience it more and more. So, due to ignorance, we don't surrender to the Lord. But by śravana-kṛṭṇām, instigating association of devotees, we develop the determination to experience devotion to God. Therefore, devotee association is very necessary. And in the body association you can identify your problem. Okay. One more, the same question, Prasad Raaval. The devotee should be eating, drinking milk or no? Because 1 gallon milk may be 200 cows, 200 cows' milk mixed together, 1 gallon milk. So we devotee offer the milk to Kṛṣṇa, that the cows may be, you know, karma-free. We are devotee in our drinking and devotee in our offering Kṛṣṇa, then how to cows? Anyway. It's not a bad forehead. So many men's suits, all with the DD. No milk, no milk. And, okay, yeah, go ahead.
Thank you, so Nectar of Construction talks about over-accumulating and over-endeavouring.
We just talked destroys your bhakti. So, when we think about our future and we try to save for our future, is it against simple living or is it going to destroy our bhakti or is it okay, practically thinking about it, that we plan for our future or our children's future, is it okay to do that or—
We plan for the future.
Like, you know, we work so that we can save a little, to live for our future as well.
Although we don't know when the death is going to come, but we still plan it. This is called intelligent planning. If you plan your future, you plan your expenditure, you plan your savings. We have to use our intelligence. Even when you are running a temple, you have to use your intelligence and plan. So, anything you say, I'm going to tell you.
