The Importance Of Temple Construction | CC Adi 7.164 | 17 Jul 2022 | Potomac | Gopāl Kṛṣṇa Goswāmī

In this devotional lecture delivered at the ISKCON Washington (Potomac) temple, Gopal Krishna Goswami (Speaker A) emphasizes the spiritual and practical significance of building temples. He recounts historical precedents from the Gaudiya Vaishnava tradition—Rupa and Sanatana Goswamis, Jiva Goswami, and other early Vrindavan saints—who established temples alongside writing scriptures. He links this legacy to the modern ISKCON mission, urging devotees to fund and serve the construction of the new Radha Madhavan temple in Washington, noting the current budget ($11 million), pledges ($8.5 million) and the remaining $2.5 million needed, with a target completion around Diwali 2023. The talk weaves scriptural citations (Caitanya‑caritāmṛta, Ādi‑līlā), anecdotes about devotees’ sacrifices (including those who died serving in Ukraine), and practical Q&A about design choices, deadlines, and the relationship between book distribution and temple building. Throughout, the speaker stresses that temple construction purifies the heart, generates spiritual merit, and multiplies outreach, while encouraging detachment from material wealth and collective service.

Hare Kṛṣṇa.
Hare Kṛṣṇa.
My voice is a little softer today. Very happy to be here in Washington Temple again after a lapse of 3 years. That was essentially due to COVID. So it's very nice to see that a beautiful temple in New Belgrade. Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya.
Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya.
Om Namo Bhagavate Vasudevaya. Om Namah Shivaya. Om Namah Shivaya. Om Namah Shivaya.
All right.
Can you hear me in the four corners?
Yes.
Can you hear me?
Yes. Okay.
I got a little bit of a cold yesterday. We're very happy to see that Baba's desire of having a nice temple in Washington is being realized. So, I'll have Gopal Hari read to you one more from the Caitanya-caritāmṛta. Is that okay?
Yes.
You did. You sound—
No thanks.
Ādi-līlā, Chapter 7, Lord Caitanya in Five Features, Text 164. Translation: Lord Caitanya dispatched the two generals, Rupa Goswami and Sanatana Goswami, to Vrindavan to preach the Bhakti cult. Purport translation, purport by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada ki. When Rupa Gosvami and Sanatana Gosvami went to Vrindavan, there was not a single temple, but by their preaching they were gradually able to construct various temples. Sanatana Gosvami constructed the Madan Mohan Temple and Rupa Gosvami constructed the Govindaji Temple. Similarly, their nephew Jiva Goswami constructed the Radhadama Temple. Śrīla Gopāla Bhātgosvāmī constructed the Dādhāramana Temple. Śrī Lokanātha Gosvāmī constructed the Gokulananda Temple, and Śrīla Śrīmananda Gosvāmī constructed the Śrīla Mahasundara Temple. In this way, many temples were gradually constructed. For preaching, construction of temples is also necessary. The Gosvāmīs not only engaged in writing books, but also constructed temples, because both are needed for preaching work. Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu wanted the cult of His sankīrtana movement to spread all over the world. Now that the International Society for Krishna Consciousness has taken up this task of preaching the cult of Lord Caitanya, its members should not only construct temples in every town and village of the globe, but also distribute the books that have already been written and further increase the number of books. Both distribution of books and construction of temples must continue side by side in parallel lines.
So here we met. The Chittinima Appalam sent two of his generals. Who are they? To bring down two established temples. Rūpa and Sanātana were at one time serving in the Mohammedan ruler, and in their heart they had no desire to serve the king. So first Rūpa Gosvāmī resigned, and with great difficulty escaped and went to Vṛndāvana. And then his brother Sanātan, he was arrested, imprisoned, but he also managed to go to Vṛndāvana. Lord Caitanya gave them certain essential duties, and one of them was to wear white in the temples of the Lord. Why? But these temples of the Lord have a very special significance. And these temples permitted you conditions for coming and getting purified. When Rūpa and Sanātanu came to Vrindāvana, and they were the first ones to establish these temples. What's your deity? You guys know it. Radha Madhubandhu. The first temple that was established in Vrindavan was the temple of Radha Madhubandhu. By whom? By Śrīla Daiva Gosvāmī. He renounced his foreign job. He came to Vrindavan. Made it by doing madhubhāya. The story goes Śrīla Daiva Gosvāmī was going house to house, and he saw, came to a residence of Mr. Prasadam Chobe, where he saw a very beautiful deity. He was very attracted to that deity, and he asked if he could have that deity. And what is that No. The same night that Brahmakuhu Bujari had a dream. In the dream the Lord told him that, "You may please turn over my devotion to this mendicant who asked you for my And Pujari was ordered directly by the Lord. And he gave the Deity to Sādhāngaswāmī. Sādhāngaswāmī established the Deity. And he was giving Him very simple worship. And one day the Lord said, the Lord saw, He said, feeding him dry chapatis. And the Lord said, "Sri Lathana, can't you do something better?" He said, "That's all I do, that's all I have." And he felt sorry, and that's what he did. So there was a very big businessman who was dealing when he was young enough. Wanted to be to Agra to buy new temple. His boat got stuck. It got stuck very near the place that Sanatana Gosvāmī Mahārāja worshiped. So the business went kaput. So Somebody living nearby, he came into Old Sanada, said, "I'm on my way to Agra to sell my merchandise. But now my boat is stuck and I must get out of here before it gets dark. Otherwise the dacoits may kill me." So Sanada said, "You can pray to the Deity of Aranmōl." So this businessman prayed to the Deity and he proceeded. And he made huge profit. So when he came back, he told Prasad Raaval, "By your mercy and the mercy of the Deity," I made a huge promise. You can have all that. What did Sanatana tell him? Sanatana told him to construct a temple of Radha Madhava Mohan. And so the first temple in Vrindavan was constructed by Sanatana Gosvāmī. And what was the name? Radha Madhava Mohan. Radha Madhava Mohan.— was the name, the name of your deity. There was another who was Swami, established the Puri temple. And prior to that, there were many important temples in Vrindavan, but by the Mohammedan ruler, they got, they got smashed, destroyed. And they were either buried or carried away to Jaipur. And when that one had reached a situation, there was no temple at all in North Jharkhand. North Jharkhand, the center general was going to establish a temple. And so, Sri Sri Rubakrishna Swami was talking. He started a forest temple. Then suddenly, ḍhāṇa-tamaḍho-mena. So in our scriptures, you read clearly. What do you read? You read about the importance of dealing with it. Caitanya Mahāprabhu instructed His follower 5 important principles. What were they? First one was: chant, stay in devotee association, sādhū-saṅga. And if you stay in sādhū-saṅga, what do you understand? You understand that the process of advancement is chanting the holy name of Kṛṣṇa. And if you stay in association, you also understand the importance of reading the scripture. And you also understand the method of worshiping the Deity in love and devotion. For this worship of the Deity, the Ācārya-vikrāha is historical. These Deities that you see in many of the ancient temples of India were installed thousands of years ago, and many of them were supervised by be a grandson of Kṛṣṇa. So worshiping the Deity in the Linga Temple is something in our scripture. And why is it important? It's important because we need to worship the Lord. And we worship the Lord in the Āśarī-gaṭha. The impersonal Self. Oh! God has no form, but our understanding is God has a form. His form is completely jñānma-kāraṇa-jñāna-jāmya, immovable. So the Lord is worshipped in His Ājāvīya form, and Lord Caitanya is sacredly followed, worshipped in His form. So these Temples are built, why? To please the Lord. That's why in any ordinary society, what do you see? You see that the first thing a man does when he makes money, he does what? Build a house. All of you have homes? You know, the first thing he said, he said, "Odeeka barmakad." But the first thing I wondered, I thought, this is in almost all the religious faiths. A few years ago, I was in the Middle East, and I noticed that every few yards, There was a mosque, there was a mosque. And I was surprised to see so many mosques. So I asked the local devotee, "Is this financed by the government?" And they said, "No, it's all financed by individuals." And it's a custom in the Muslim tradition. When you make money, before you build your own house, what do you do? You construct a residence for the Lord. And that is a tradition. But many of us, what do we believe? We will make our house, our children's house, grandchildren's house, and then ultimately after 4 or 5 generations, something for the Lord. So, the Lord gives us the facility, gives us the means, and if we use it in service of the Lord, it gets better. Prabhupāda encouraged construction of a temple. Prabhupāda went to the West, as you know, just 48 weeks. After Prabhupāda established these temples in the West, to return to India. And he wanted many temples to be constructed in India, in our land, in Bombay. And Prabhupāda inspired his followers, right? Similarly, when Prabhupāda came to America, he also wanted temples to be built. Why? Temple, temple is presence of the Lord where you can come, you get purified. And Prabhupāda came to the city of Washington. When did he come? 1976. '76. One trip or two trip. Prabhupāda came here and he presented the that we should have a nice temple. He had a very nice property. He had a very nice property. It took a long time. There were so many complications. And it took a long time. But ultimately, everything that Prabhupāda desired actually comes true. You must have heard of the Hayakrishna Land Temple. Into. At one time, Prabhupāda used to go to the house of Śrīmad-Bhāgavatī. Are you all familiar with Śrīmad-Bhāgavatī?
Yes.
And to go to her house, you had to pass by what is now known as the Hare Kṛṣṇa land. At that time, the Hare Kṛṣṇa land was just a jungle, pure jungle. And Prabhupāda's position was so poor that Prabhupāda could walk from the Andheri station to where he was residing. That's to say, 10 paisa bus fare. I have been to Andheri station a moment. Prabhupāda used to walk. There is a train. Because he didn't have money. At that time he offered a prayer to the Lord. He said, "My dear Lord, if You ever give me this facility, I'll construct a Bengali temple for You." And after establishing ISKCON, Prabhupāda returned to India with the rest of the disciples. He wanted a good construction. A major temple in Bombay. And when he saw this land, he said, "Is the same land that I prayed to the Lord that I may construct a temple?" So Prabhupāda, in numerous letters, encouraged the devotees to build a temple. And these temples are places of worship. Lays of religion. There are scriptures you read that anyone who constructs a temple of the Lord, or helps in constructing, what does he get?
What does he get?
He gets the ananda. What is it? Very punch, very flower, very bomb, very was trying to establish a temple in Juhu. But there were some local people who were very opposed to her, who were opposing her purpose. So there was one, I should say, he became a devotee who helped Prasad Raaval immensely in, in doing their projects. But the powers of these, these sādhi, you are making a house for Kṛṣṇa here. When Kṛṣṇa is making a house, you are editing the book for Him. In other words, one who constructs the temple of the Lord, after the construction, what does he get? He gets unlimited mokṣa. So these temples are needed. And Washington, as you know, Prabhupāda himself predicted, desired that a beautiful temple should be built. Now the temple is being built. And Prabhupāda used to give us example of blind man and a layman. There was a blind man. He said, "I can't see, but I have to reach a destination." And the layman said, "I can't walk, but I have to reach." And then he stood before the blind man and said, "I am the solution. My legs." And they walked. "Your Honor." So Prabhupāda said, "We as sādhūs may have certain abilities, certain desire to preach, but we don't have all. We don't have everything. We are dependent on the every-day business man, devotee community, for help. And the two work together." That's the mission of the Lord is here. So this temple of the Lord is being built for the pleasure of the Lord. And it is a great privilege to have the opportunity to serve the Lord. To get some material achievement is no big deal. To engage in service of the Lord, it is a great privilege. In Argentina, once told Devotee, "Now onwards I am only going to eat in the house of a millionaire." Lakṣmaṇī, for the devotees of Lakṣmaṇī, were not so rich. Most of them were very poor. You only eat the house of a Lakṣmī. We are not Lakṣmī. Lord Caitanya Mahāprabhu. By Lakṣmī I mean one who chants the holy name of the Lord. It is a hundred thousand times. So the real millionaire is one who engages in service to the Lord. Kṛṣṇa is self-sufficient. He doesn't need anything. Is unsufficient. But Kṛṣṇa gives us the opportunity to engage. He gives us the opportunity to help build the temple. He gives us the opportunity to print books. He gives us the opportunity to preach the mission of Kṛṣṇa. And that is real mercy. Again, so this temple, this beautiful temple, I can see that the work is going very far. I plan to walk around and see. Is this temple anything built to fulfill which desire? Prabhuji said that. What was that? So we should all consider it a great privilege to have the opportunity to engage in His service. The Lord is self-sufficient. He doesn't need anything. But He gives us the opportunity to engage in His service. So each of us should try our best to do something. Everything is noted by the Lord. And if you sincerely endeavor, you will have property to say, "You take one step towards Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa takes 10,000 steps." The Lord has now given the devotees in the Washington area an opportunity to engage in very nice service. And what's that? He sent the temple of the Lord. So, we may say, "I don't like the design, I don't like this." The one thing is, temple has been built in the praise of the Lord, and we should all endeavor to take part in it. The Lord is pleased even with a tiny bit of You may have noticed all the principal temples of India, they were built by the kings and the devotees. And Kṛṣṇa gives us the opportunity. He gives, 'lāuḥ ca itanyāḥ sañjupābhu-saṁhitaṇāḥ' to construct temple. So just like not only temples will be built in, in our, the proud Prabhupāda, Lord Pūrṇabodhi, because I had this desire that temples will be built in outside India, and Prabhupāda will commit them. This is our work. Mīsra Devī. So our experience is once a temple of the Lord is built, it attracts and facilitates the service of many people. Naturally, when you see an attractive building, you feel like going and sitting in it. You see the churches, when they are built, they make it so attractive So, this temple, Radha Madhananda, is being built for the pleasure of the Lord by the devotees of the Lord. And anyone who helps to construct this temple will get the unlimited fortune. So Kṛṣṇa is very kind. He comes to us in various ways. Incarnates in the Holy Name. The Holy Name is non-reproachable Lord. What to say? Kali-kale dakau, Kali-kale namah rupa. Krishna incarnates in the Holy Name. In the Holy Name, He is non-reproachable. The Holy Name cleanses our heart. Our heart is contaminated, polluted, Again, we clarify, abhacchay. Prabhupāda was ordered by his spiritual master to take these teachings of Lord Caitanya in the Western world. And prior to Prabhupāda, many of his godbrothers had attempted, but they were not so successful. And Prabhupāda's godbrothers were— Yes, the prediction is there, but Kali-yuga is so deep, it may not be realized. But Bhaktisiddhānta Mahāprabhu had full faith. When he saw Prabhupāda in the very first meeting in Kākāda, he concluded, "Yes, he is a young man who will fulfill Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu's order." The first meeting, Papa got his English certificate. Papa took it to a high school, and after a long struggle, came to the West. And when he came to the West, again it was a struggle. Several— the first year, the struggle was very intense. At one time, Papa didn't even have a common place to live. But he was determined, and ultimately he established ISKCON. And as he established ISKCON, when he was establishing ISKCON, he consulted his devotees, "What should I lead you with this society?" Some said, "Call this the International Society of God Consciousness." Now, you do specific, and he did not come. So Prabhupāda advised, please don't present these, no one will follow. So Prabhupāda gave us a real message, and you hear that was Krishna consciousness spread to almost every part of the to grow. And Prabhupāda also wanted temples to be built in the West so that Kṛṣṇa consciousness is more accepted. I'm really happy that after a long struggle, the construction of the project has really started. And this is a wonderful opportunity for all of us to get together. Kṛṣṇa knows what our means are. I can hide from you, you can hide from me, but can anyone hide anything from Kṛṣṇa? Can they?
No.
English lesson. Kṛṣṇa doesn't know. Nobody can hide. So we should honestly try and serve, take part in His service. Wonderful opportunity to build a temple, and the temple is there for future generations also. And then those who made it possible can say, "Yes, this was made with the effort of our temple." So this is a wonderful opportunity for all of you to get involved. And complete this temple and make it one of the most attractive temples in Washington area. In Washington area you have such beautiful churches, you have temples in War Memorial Center, in so many other beautiful temples. And they should also be made like the Vedic temple. Is that right?
Yes.
Something we all can be proud of. So we hope that all of you will enthusiastically help me on this. I'm sure all of you have probably Swamiji started fulfilling your efforts, and we are very fortunate we had the opportunity to be here today. This beautiful temple. Of course, to build a temple is a struggle. Nothing is easy. We built so many temples. You know what we do struggle? Struggle is there because people are not as generous as they should be. In certain, in some cultures, people are more generous, but in spite of struggle, in spite of challenges, we should try to serve the Vaiṣṇava community. And we have served occasionally. There are so many references in the literature from the importance of temple construction. So I thought that today I could, coming up with 3 years, and seeing the progress in construction, I thought that I could— I could encourage all of you to help build this temple. ISKCON has built temples all over the world. In India, we have over 100 temples now, and we built over the last 50 years. In the West also. They have several temples. Building a temple in the West is a little bit more difficult than building it in India. It's a big challenge to do this temple, but I'm sure that the Vaakya will make an effort. It will be impossible to make, achieved in no time. Krishna's coming to stay. By the mercy of Caitanya Mahāprabhu, a blind man can see, a deaf man can hear, a lame man can walk. So Prabhupāda said, "Never take no for an answer." So it's a wonderful opportunity to engage in service, to please the Lord, please Prabhupāda. He is a Vaishnava, and he would make— if we take one step, he would take 10 steps. So we should all take part in this project and complete the project as soon as possible. For the project is being built for the pleasure of Prasada, mother and father. And he is a classic example of how we should always temper I didn't work on a bed. The business man made a profit and he gave it back to me at that time. So, he did everything he said he would do for me. And this will enable us to make it much bigger. And if you're determined, then you shall get it. You will get what you want. Lord is always testing us. The Lord always desired a temple. The Deity of Gopā was hidden underneath this mud because Abhijñāni wanted to save the Deity from the bomb blast attack. But then the Lord appeared to her, it was a dream of her, and pleaded with her, "Please rescue me from this place." and he strangled him. And in Madurai, what did he do? He consecrated the temple of the Lord. Immediately he was struck. And there is a long tradition of building temples. So here they are pushing me for building a Viruva Temple in Washington area. This temple will give prestige to this colony. Prestige to Prabhupāda and prestige to Vaiṣṇava Vedic thought. Once the temple is built and properly managed, you have a lot of people coming for darshan, and they get purified receiving this knowledge. So everyone is inspired to see this temple constructed.
Hello.
I don't want to ask, but how many of you have already started your service towards this project? Almost everybody. Anyway, one thing is, once you're constructing a temple, you make an initial budget. Then after some time he said, "Oh, the pleasure was nice to have you." We give the key back to him. Prasad RAVAL told me, "We are professional beggars." He said, "We are professional beggars." So we are always begging. "Krishna ji, generosity may I adore? Krishna ji, may I adore?" marathon. Other people say, "You people have too many marathons." That's good. If you be engaged in a marathon, you get purified. So please take part in this endeavor and construct the temple, and the temple ready as soon as possible. Hare Kṛṣṇa.
Hare Kṛṣṇa. May I take on some questions on this?
Any question? Take on some question. Any question? What's your deadline for the temple? This mic was not loud enough.
Hare Krishna, Maharaj. All glory to the spiritual father. I have one question regarding the temples. I'm basically from South India, but unlike the ISKCON temple where it it acts as epicenter of spreading the Krishna consciousness as well as the Vedic culture knowledge, including it has a lot of programs to spread the Krishna consciousness. But some of the, now many of the South Indian temples, when, or for that matter, for that matter, you know, it's more about, you know, going to the temple, praying to the God. Is there any, anything behind that? You know, I like this ISKCON, whatever we are doing, but is there any reason Though they are so ancient, but those things are not followed what we are doing here.
There are different approaches to temple construction. There is the South Indian approach based on which the temples in South India were built by the kings. Then you have the Rajasthani school. Architects, and you have different— it doesn't matter what design you choose for the nature. Temple should have cleanliness, peacefulness, well, precious things. The temple is essentially a place where we're going to get purified. And you will see the environment should be really pure. People come to ISKCON temples and say, "We come here wise." Where we can find peace, we can have, we can see the presence of the Lord. So, the temple is a place where we go, we can have mercy of the Lord. Architecturally, it doesn't matter whatever approach you take. Anyone? What's the deadline for the temple?
Deadline?
Uh, supposed to be completed now. The fall of 2023. So next year, there you go, towards the end of next year.
Yeah, hope when you have no COVID, you should be able to achieve it.
Diwali?
Diwali?
Yes, why not?
Diwali!
Hello!
Hello!
That's just right. And people are making their own homes, want to complete it as soon as possible. Our goal should be this temple, Radha Madhavan, be completed as soon as possible. I imagine you haven't fixed a target, but you'd like to do it as soon as possible.
ASAP.
Everyone sitting here, I think, has already started their commitment.
Yes, everybody here is already pledged.
Yes, most of the donors are here. Some of the members are still waiting to make their pledge.
The budget keeps increasing.
Yeah, Mataji would like to know what the budget is. $11 million is the budget. We got $8.5 million pledges. We only have $2.5 million left.
Well, that's nothing for Washington. Yeah, it's okay. It's okay. Let's change from Washington. If you have enough pleasures, the balance should not be a problem. I see many of our devotees in temple construction, they go hours to hours. You saw this in this culture.
Offer.
The purpose is that we should all become beggars for the Lord and try to complete His work as soon as possible. Anything else?
Hare Krishna.
Yes.
Hare Krishna, Gurudeva. You mentioned that whoever helps to build or builds the temple of Kṛṣṇa, Krishna will have the house built for that person in Bombay.
Prabhupāda said that to one man in Bombay. You are building a house for Krishna, Krishna is building a house for you in the heavenly kingdom. That's a direct quote.
So will that be easy way going back to Godhead?
Looks like. Sometimes people say, "Yogi has some shortcuts." Yes, this is one of the shortcuts. Actually, Kṛṣṇa doesn't need anything. He doesn't need you, He doesn't need me. He gives all of us the opportunity. Get purified. And just imagine after the temple is built, how many thousands of people will come to have darshan. My experience is, before the temple is built, the crowd is smaller. Once the temple is built, the crowd will multiply. So even in here, in Washington, that will happen. See, more and more people coming. Hare Krishna, Guru Mahārāja. Guru Mahārāja, how in the verse that we just read, the purport also talks about book distribution. So how book distribution can help construct temples, or is there a relation between book distribution and temple construction? In the purport we read, Not that.
What are you looking for?
Book distribution gives you knowledge how to become a better devotee. And if you become a better devotee, you are convinced about Kṛṣṇa consciousness. Then you can preach to others. And you inspire others to take to Kṛṣṇa consciousness. And as they take to Kṛṣṇa consciousness, they say, Yes, that is do something big for the Lord. And that includes temple construction. Bhūkta distribution enlightens us, educates us, and that helps us become better devotees. And then you have the mood of detachment. Otherwise we think, "Oh, I give this money to these sādhūs." What will be left for me? And then you realize Krishna is the ultimate proprietor. Is it right? He's the ultimate proprietor. Everything should be used in the Lord's service. Okay.
Prabhu.
Yeah. Um, how can we understand the situation where people are giving the life for Krishna?
For example, it happened in Ukraine.
3 devotees, Madana Gopāl, Gādhvā. I just got a news, this morning. Can you show me this picture? There was 4 devotees who were doing food distribution in Ukraine. All of you are aware of the conflict between Russia and Ukraine. These were the sannyāsī devotees They were serving the Shah, Khufra-like. They were in these difficult situations. And yesterday evening, the missiles completely destroyed the building they were in, and they died. So we offer our prayers. For months they should be getting prashad in a very dangerous environment. Several devotees have died in this battle. What were their names? Madana Gopal Prabhu, Madana Gopal Prabhu, Krishna Tattva Prabhu, and Arjun Prabhu. They're disciples of actually God. So any more questions? Any comments?
Yes.
Hare Krishna. Thank you for nice class, Maharaj. So you were explaining that Madan Mohan is the first Deity of Vrindavan, and also we know from history that Madan Mohan is also the first Deity of ISKCON. So can you explain the significance of that?
Well, Srila Aṣṭhanga Mahāprabhu was directed by Rāja Dhānya. —Praybook for the Mortal Service, from his average temple. And the boy separated from his father, and the temple of Radha, and then more. Then Radha went alone, and also today, for Gaurapuri, for Deity. And Radha went alone. Where is he? I think he did run quickly. So, what's your question?
My question is that Madan Mohana is also the first deity of ISKCON because Prabhupāda carved first deity in New York.
Prabhupāda probably knew it's another Gosvāmī established by the Lord and it was deity. So Prabhupāda pointed deity to be Madan Mohana. That's the only interpretation that I have. There's no shaasik statement for this kind of murti deity coming from other moulds. Mother Bhagavan was— her mould was because Nārjuna lineage or Nārjuna order. That was how he came out. Hindi. English. Regarding supporting the temple constructions, if somebody asks for a contribution for a non-ISKCON temple, should we support or Then it is your personal decision, and it depends upon your faith. We don't say, "Don't support any non-Hinduism project." That's your personal decision. We encourage people to give it to ISKCON, but we don't discourage people. From Grenada. Your name is called, Prasad RAVALAD RAVALAD.
Thank you.
I have a question about how we can detach with that our heart and money and give to the construction. It's going to be very attached. I worked hard. This money is the result of my hard work. Well, what are you going to do with it? Buy something fashionable? Buy a new car? Mind you, or put it in the bank, but that's not going to give you any real happiness. Where have you served the Lord? In Moscow, at one time, when we were working to build a temple, the devotees were so austere. Many of the ladies Give their jewelry to the temple to sell and use it for temple construction. And you will yield your soul. You know, attachment leads to misery. When you get attached to your bank balance, when you get attached to your relatives, it leads to misery. And detachment brings you closer to Kṛṣṇa and makes you to be more peaceful in life. If you want shanti, then you should get detached. Is that right? Yes. Okay. Let's stop now. Any more questions?
Prasad Raaval.
Hare Kṛṣṇa Mahārāja, once we build the temples, does that mean we can detach from our material life and join the temple? If you are a householder, we recommend, depending on where you are, continue with your Then we can say you can move into the Spirit Temple. Maybe Ram Gheeyasah, his advice is, "Stay where you are." Am I right? Yes. Thank you very much. Thank you. Lama Lama, I am a lama.
