This is a short transcript excerpt from the YouTube video "Hard Work + Purpose = True Freedom" (recorded conversation). Richard Canfield asks about the guest's decision to start working from home; the guest explains that a single guiding word—'freedom'—motivated leaving a strong career to start over, cites freedoms of time and money, notes the challenge of learning new skills, and credits a team and an organization called Ascendant for compressing the learning curve.

I'd love to know a little bit about the journey of making the decision to get started, working from home, doing it in a way where you're able to meet people frequently using Zoom Internet, that kind of technology. What's different about this than things that you've done in the past in your life, just from a day to day operational standpoint?
One of my mentors at one time said there should be one word that drives you, that helps direct you into every decision that you make. My word is freedom to leave a very good career and to start at nothing again. I mean, to build that up. That was the discussion I had with my wife. I said, there's the freedom. The same thing with what Dan Sullivan says. Freedom of time, freedom of money, to be able to follow up. My passion is. At first it was challenging because I didn't know what I was getting myself into. And that's where having a team of people that I can lean on to really get me up to speed. You guys have compressed and what Ascendant has done is compress that learning curve. It's a lot. So I'm just warning people it's a lot to take, but if you love hard work and you love what you do, you're going to get there. And Ascendant just makes it faster.
