Robert Ashton approached a forensic scientist at Broadmoor Clinic and spotted a chance to get service users volunteering and building work experience. He's guided the community shop project from the start, and it's now raising funds through a community share issue to open.
Chapters
Robert Ashton was courageous enough to blag his way into Broadmoor Clinic and have a conversation with one of the forensic scientists, sort of asking a few just subtle questions and realising that there was a great opportunity here within the walled garden once again to reconnect with the clinic and the use for their service users to to volunteer and build their self-esteem and get work experience and things like that. So Robert has supported this project right from the start. It's obviously dear to his heart, and he's given us an enormous amount of support and advice and encouragement and direction. And to be frank, without him, we wouldn't be anywhere near where we are today, which is at the point of fundraising, having our community share issue. And the possibility of this project actually happening is really within sight.
