The Three Questions That Can Transform Your Life
8 Dec 2025 · 0 min
Dr. Robert Rohm explores three questions God might ask: Do you know how much I love you? Is there anything you think I haven't forgiven you for? Is there anything you need help doing? He uses Job's story and personal examples to show how trusting God, accepting forgiveness, and asking for help can reshape your life.
If you could meet with God today, do you know he would have three questions to ask you? Are you aware of what those three questions are? Well, on today's podcast, you're about to find out.
Welcome to becoming wiser with Dr. Robert A. Rome, author and world renowned public speaker, as he shares stories involving his experiences and lessons learned in a good spirited, positive and fun way. Here's Dr. Robert A. Rome.
Hi, I'm Dr. Robert Rome. And today's podcast on Becoming Wiser may be the most important one you ever listened to. And the reason for that is because God has questions for us. You know, it was a big awakening for me in my life as I was growing up because God did not always act right. And one day someone shared with me the concept that God was not on trial. I was the one on trial. And boy, that sure changed my perspective. Instead of me questioning God, I began to find out that God had some questions for me. If you happen to know of this story of Job, in the Old Testament, some awful things happened to Job. But through that experience and through that story, we learn a great concept. You see, Job was a very faithful follower of God. He loved God and wanted to please God with his life and with his actions and with his attitudes. He also was very concerned for his children and he was always praying for them and wanted to have a good family and wanted things in life to be as successful and positive and upbeat and encouraging as possible. Well, one day the devil told God that the only reason Job liked to follow him and love him was because how good he was to him. As a matter of fact, what shocking God was the one that brought up the topic of Job. God said to the devil, do you know about my servant Job? He loves me and wants to follow me. And the devil said, well, of course he does. Look how much you've blessed him. If you take all that stuff away, he'll turn against you. And God said, all right, you can touch all of his stuff, but you can't touch him. And Satan said, all right, that's a deal. And Satan went after him and he destroyed everything. He destroyed his flocks, his herds, his house, his family. He was. It was a horrific experience. But through all that, Job did not turn against God. Job made the famous saying statement, perhaps you've heard it. The Lord gives, the Lord takes away. Blessed be the name of the Lord. Job also said, I brought nothing into this world. I'll take nothing out of this world. In other words, Job had his hand screwed on straight in his perspective. Correct. That everything about him focused on, let me look to God first. And you see, here's the parallel. Don't miss this. God was testing Job to develop him. Satan was tempting Job to destroy him. But those two aspects of life seemed very, very similar. Let me repeat it. God was testing him to develop him. We all go through test, mental test, physical tests, spiritual test, academic test to develop us, to see how we're doing, to see what we know. But Satan was bringing the temptation into his life to destroy him. But those things seemed very, very similar. They felt very close to each other in Job's experience. Well, the devil came back to God's presence one day, and God said, what about Job? What do you think about him now? He still loves me, doesn't he? And Satan said, well, the only reason he does is because of his health. You let me touch his health and he'll turn against you. He'll curse you to your face. God said, okay, you can have his body, but you cannot kill him. Now, friends, I hope you're listening to this because it teaches us that even the devil is on a restrictive leash. What that means is he can only go so far. He can only do so much. He is evil. He is full of deadly poison. But he still can only go as far as God allows him. This is a great mystery that God allowed the devil to have free reign and a free will, just like you and me. Isn't it interesting that we can bring a lot of good into this world, but we can also bring a lot of bad, a lot of evil? The Bible calls Satan an angel of light. He wants to confuse us by bringing great things into our life and then suddenly turning against us and destroying everything. So Satan went out for Job and he wrecked havoc on his body. I mean, Job was sick. He was full of boils. It said he hurt so bad he made a fire. And when the fire down died down, he had ashes that were soft and warm and even cooled off. And he could have something to sit on because he was in so much pain. Yet the Bible says in all this, Job did not turn against God. He did not curse God. Unfortunately, Job's wife did. She looked at Job and she said, you're in so much pain. I hate to see you like this. Why don't you just curse God and die? And he said, foolish, foolish thinking to his wife, shall we receive all of the good that God has brought into our life? And shall we not receive all of these difficult challenges and this evil that has come upon us? The Bible says in all of this Job did not sin with his mouth. In other words, once again, he had his head screwed on straight because he knew the answer to three questions. And I'm going to share with those those with you in just a minute, but I want to wrap this thought up about Job. Job never turned against God. Even though his environment changed and his own health changed, he kept looking to God first. Jesus once said in Matthew 6:33, Seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and then all these other things will added unto you. Jesus, who was God in the flesh, understood that same concept. The same concept of don't fall apart when things fall apart. Realize that God loves you. And even though you're being tested, don't give way to what could seem to be a temptation. Life is a very, very tenuous situation. Someone once said, we either just got through a problem, we're in the middle of a problem, or we're heading to a problem. There's a lot of truth to that. So Job was the example. He's even mentioned in the New Testament. Peter refers back to Job as being a model person, an example that all of us should follow. I don't know about you, but, you know, there have been times in my life that I've had challenges, hard tests, and I have passed them, and I was better for it. Unfortunately, there have been challenges and times in my life that I failed test and it. And it caused me to stumble and to not face the reality of what I was going to. You might say it made me bitter rather than making me better. Well, we all have a choice, don't we? We all have freedom. We all have a free will. We can choose what it is that we decide we want to do and who it is we decide we want to follow. Well, Job existed and prospered through all of that, even though it was hard, even though it was difficult. He prospered because he knew the answer to the three questions. Are you ready? I'm going to give you the three questions just like Job had to answer these so many years ago. And let's see how you and I do on this test. If you were to die and stand before God, or if you could meet with him, if he were to come to you in bodily form today and sit down with you and say, you know, I got three questions for you. Could we spend a little bit of time together? Let's go to Starbucks. I'll treat. Here are the three questions. Question number one. Do you know how much I love you? You see, Job understood that in spite of his circumstances, the heart of God had not changed. God had Job's back. God had Job's best interest in mind. God love Job, and Job knew it. So if God were to say to Job, do you know how much I love you? Job's answer would definitely have been, yes, sir, absolutely. I'm not looking to my family. I'm not looking to my health. I'm not looking to my finances. I'm not looking to my business. I'm not looking to my environment, and I'm not looking to my circumstances. I'm looking to you, God, because you know all things. You are all wise, you are all kind and gracious. If things in my life are going wrong, I don't have to go with them. I have to learn. And I want to learn to trust you. One of Job's greatest sentences is, even if God kills me, I will trust in him. You see? I guess that's why Job became such a model for all of us. He faced the test, he endured the test, and he passed the test. And Job became the one that we look at. You know, years ago, Vince Lombardi was the coach of the Green Bay Packers. His players said he treated us all the same, like dogs. He was known for his fierce attitude and competitive nature. Isn't it interesting, though? In just a few months, we'll be watching the super bowl on tv, and the winner gets none other than the Lombardi Award. You see, they named it after him because he was challenging, he was difficult, he was mysterious, he was hard at times, and that caused his players to excel. Oh, sure, they stumbled. Oh, sure, they did not like it. And they talked about the old man, they called him behind his back. Yet they sure enjoyed being a member of the Green Bay packers and are known as one of the greatest football dynasties of all time. He said that the reason he traded his players the way he did is because he loved them and he wanted the best for them. Willie Davis, one of his famous players, said, I owe everything to that man. He made me everything that I am today. He taught me in spite of every obstacle that I faced, to work hard, to learn from it and to get through it, and I'd become a champion and a winner on the other side. Well, that's why we like Job. He was a champion. He was a winner and was victorious on the other side. Well, the second question. The second question God would ask you, if he were sitting down with you, just like he did with Job, he would say to you, is there anything you think I have not forgiven you for? Is There anything you think I'm holding against you? Is there anything you think I have not forgiven you for? You see, the Bible says when Christ died and rose again, he paid for all of our sins. He didn't pay for some of them. He didn't pay for half of them. He paid for all of them. It's so important that you understand this. You owe God a debt. I owe God a debt. The Bible says the payment or the wages of sin is death, eternal separation from God. I don't want to have to pay that. Do you? Well, that's why Jesus died and arose again to make the payment, to pay your debt that you owe God. God would say to you, is there anything you think I have not forgiven you for? Or is the correct English, is there anything of which you think I have not forgiven You? See, the answer to that is no. God, you've forgiven me of everything. You paid the ultimate price. You're not on trial. I'm on trial. You're the one that has provided salvation. It's a gift I can receive by faith. You paid the price. And there's not anything that you are holding against me. There's not anything you have not forgiven me for. There's not anything that is still on my side of the ledger that I have to pay for for all my sins. They have all been forgiven. The wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life. Think about God has a gift for you and his eternal life in heaven because he's forgiven you of everything. Well, the third question, and I think maybe this might be the sweetest one, after God said, do you know how much I love you? And you responded to that with, yes, I do. I do know how much you love me. I'm not looking at my circumstances, my health, my finances, my environment or anything. I'm looking to you. Second question is, anything you think I've not forgiven you for or of which you've not been forgiven, God, you've forgiven me of everything. You let Jesus die. He was whipped and beaten and he was crucified for my sins. And he arose from the dead to prove and to settle the test once and for all that he was victorious. Well, the third question is this. This is so sweet. God would look at you and say, is there anything you need me to help you to do? Is there anything you need me to help you to do? Maybe it's at work. Friends, I've been a business owner for over 30 years. I. I'm not the smartest person you'll ever meet. But I'm not the dumbest person you'll ever meet either. In my background's in education. My background's in ministry, but my background's not in business. I've had to learn by trial and error for 33 years how to run a business, because every day is different. You know what? The reason my business is successful, the reason we're on six continents, the reason we travel around the world and have been such a blessing, and hopefully to you, is because of one simple concept. If God were to say to me, which he has, is there anything you need me to help you to do? Yes. Could you help me learn how to run my business? Could you help me to learn to make good decisions and wise choices? Friends, this podcast is called Becoming Wiser. The reason my financial and business has succeeded is because of my senior partner, God. I will many times say, God, guide my steps, help my thinking, lead me in the way I should go, open up doors of opportunity. Show me here. Listen to this. Show me your favor. I'd rather have one day of God's favor than a thousand years of my labor. God is very smart and he wants to help you. Is it your finances you need help with? How about your health? Maybe it's your marriage or your family, or maybe there's something at work or a job. There's a thousand and one things. Please do not hesitate to call upon God. Scripture says, call upon me and I'll show you great and mighty things that you do not know anything about. Well, that's been my experience. Why not ask God today if there's something that's on your heart or mind to help you and to guide you? Let him know that you realize how much he loves you. Let him know in just simple prayer. God, I thank you that you love me. Next. I thank you that you've forgiven me of all things. And next, God, could you help me with my family? Could you help me with my health? Could you help me with my marriage? He's more than willing to do that.
