Here's one of the biggest mistakes I've ever made as a business owner. 8 years or so ago, we were working with a client on their branding. We'd just finished creating the logo for them, and I was concerned that it might be flagged up against another company's trademark. The client was in such a rush to make use of the logo that they ignored my concerns and used it anyway. Inevitably, the logo got challenged through the trademark system, and the client was unable to use it, and unfortunately, they blamed me. So my mistake was not seeing myself as an expert and allowing the client to dictate to me how the job needed to be done.
