55 Days Left In Techstars | Vlog #34

Ryan Shank updates PhoneWagon's progress in Techstars with 55 days left. Last week they hit only $469 in new monthly recurring revenue against a $1,000 target, and need to reach $25,000 MRR by program end. This week the team is running demos, publishing content, and integrating with AdWords to close the gap.

See, I like getting brown rice, steamed broccoli, and steamed chicken. It's like healthy. Good morning guys. Welcome to the vlog. I want to update you. There are 53 days left in Techstars. Okay, today, this morning, it is Thursday. It's August 3rd. Yesterday you guys saw we were like really, really focused on just like marketing stuff, getting our tracking and all of that up. Today, a couple things that we're gonna do. We have our big rock meeting later today. So we're gonna update everyone on our metrics. We're a little bit short going into today. So we're gonna be really hitting getting the ground running, trying to get customers to close. We have a bunch of stuff in the pipeline, but it's just not closed yet, so we're gonna be focusing today on getting them across the finish line, getting customers to expand and upgrade so that we can hit that net new MRR added number. We're going for $1,000 a week. We're also gonna be just doing, again, a lot of demos, and then we're also gonna be putting out the rest of the content onto the blog, the vlog onto the blog. If you guys are new here, my name is Ryan Shank. This is our journey building PhoneWagon from the ground up, no outside funding, completely bootstrapped, and we're documenting everything we do 7 days a week. I hope you guys are out there Just working hard, being pioneers, being Wagoneers. Welcome to the vlog. Alright, Joe, I'll hit you up on it tomorrow. Mike, did you say you want to be on camera more? Yeah, I'm really upset about it, Caine. I feel like it's something personal. Like a little snippet, then get the thumbnail, upload the thumbnail as the featured image, then click vlog. See, I like getting brown rice, steamed broccoli, and steamed chicken. It's like healthy. Let me do this one. Watch me do this one and then I will do a show you on the next one once we go from the top. Of the market, like, I think we need to leverage that, you know, recording what they're saying. That's what I was thinking. Me and Mike had this conversation one day. I was like, man— Shout out Dave Ross. Alright everyone. Okay! Let's get going! I know you guys want to I gotta eat and drink and all that kind of stuff, so let's get through this. How many of you guys are having a problem prioritizing tasks or focusing on what's most important? If you try to put too much little shit in your queue, in your priorities, you're not gonna get any of the big stuff that actually matters done. So that's why this is called Big Rocks, because we want you to focus on stuff that actually matters and don't do the stupid shit that's gonna occupy your time and distract you because it doesn't matter. That's why it's called Big Rock. Our Big Rock last week was, um, we wanted to grow our SurfCloud user base by 13%. So our Big Rock was $1,000 in net new MRR added, and we did not hit it. We had $469. In net new MRR added. We had 8 paying customers last week. This week we have 9 new paying customers, so our number of customers is going up. Um, big rock for next week is $1,500 in MRR added. $1,500 in net new. Net new, yeah. No asks and, uh, no shoutouts. I'm proud. Yeah, and then our big rock for next week is— Alexis, Alexis, Alexis. As soon as we did the integration inside of PhoneWagons, we then hooked it up to AdWords for it. Just got done our Big Rock meeting. It is week, I think, 5 of Techstars. We came up short this week. I mean, I'm not gonna sit here and sugarcoat it. We came up short, but we just had, again, the Big Rock meeting, and then there was a happy hour sponsored by Cooley, which, by the way, Cooley was the law firm I used, we used at our last company. We're still going hard. We're really, really focused. 55 days left in Techstars. That's not a lot to hit our goal of $25,000 in MRR by the end of Techstars. I'm really excited you guys are following along for the journey as we're doing this, and we're attempting to hit this goal in record time. Okay, so if you guys are new here, my name is Ryan Shank. This is our journey. We're building PhoneWagon from the ground up with no outside funding. We're going through Techstars. We're doing this 7 days a week. I'm glad you guys, guys are out there working hard. I hope you're out there working hard, being pioneers, being Wagoneers. Peace!
