Live Chat, Tax Vans, and Blue Bottle Coffee

Ryan Shank from PhoneWagon reports a spike in live-chat requests from people wanting to record their spouses, cases from South Sudan and Las Vegas included. The company is adding vanity 1-800 numbers like 1-800-GET-CLEAN and gaining new customers, though Ryan wonders if the product's messaging is being misunderstood.

What up guys, this is Ryan with PhoneWagon. Day 4 of our morning updates that we've started doing now. I got the blue bottle coffee is back in the mix. I think it's gonna— how do I get it over here? I think it's gonna join us every day. That's what I'm feeling right now. We'll see how things go. You know, we're in a nice conference room today. This one actually has a view of the Empire State Building if I kinda— swing around here, but it's gonna be a good Thursday. So, I wanna give you guys an update first. I'm getting a lot of people coming to our live chat and asking or wanting to record their spouses. So I'm not really sure if my messaging is off, if they think this is some call recording spy software, so we're gonna have to really look into that, but I've had 2 people in the last 2 days. One was in South Sudan, So, you know, we're international, getting traffic from Africa, whatever. And then the other person was in Vegas last night. They weren't really spelling things that well, but last time I was in Vegas, I wasn't going on to a business software site and utilizing the live chat support feature. So not really sure how they do Vegas, a little different than I do Vegas, but either way, we got to look into our messaging or look into our referral traffic. I don't know how they came to the site. I haven't dug into it too deep yet, but kind of interesting. Obviously a use case we didn't think about, we're not built for, but hey, you know, buy a subscription. That's all I can say and figure it out. So what else? The other thing that I thought was kind of weird, I was walking to work today after I got my Blue Bottle Coffee and I saw these vans that were offering tax services. One, I wouldn't trust a van where you're like, "Hey, come in my van and tell me your Social Security number and all of your financial information." Kind of weird. And secondly, it reminded me, oh, I guess that's another point, it reminded me that I need to do my taxes, but also, like, how good can they be if that's their, I mean, maybe they're just really smart and lean and efficient and they're like, "Hey, why are we gonna buy a retail spot for only," need to be brick and mortar for 1 to 3 months, 2 months maybe. Hey, maybe they're the smart people and I'm the one that's just judging them, but hey, maybe it's a good business. Anyway, we're starting to get a lot of new customers, so that's really, really exciting. We're starting to play around with vanity numbers, being able to choose different 800 numbers like 1-800-GET-CLEAN. And things like that instead of just doing random searches. So we got that on the roadmap. And a lot of cool stuff. So hit me up if you guys have any questions. This was a really informative morning update. Day 4, Thursday, February 15th? Let me check because that would be awkward. 16th, missed a day. February 16th, so have an awesome Thursday, guys, and we'll see you tomorrow. Tomorrow! Tomorrow?
