SECRET PRESS TRICK TO TRIPLE YOUR LEADS

Ryan Shank shows how to use press coverage to generate SaaS leads. A single TechCrunch article brought a wave of inbound leads through Facebook groups and social sharing. The strategy: pitch different angles to different outlets, then repurpose the coverage for SEO and credibility over 3-6 weeks.

What's up, guys? It is Ryan from PhoneWagon. He's back, back again. Second day in a row. Kane's chopping up the vlogs. Kane's back.
Guess who's back? Guess who's back?
I want to talk to you guys today about how you can grow your business and actually like the point of doing press. I was reading this article there. Boom. This article by Groove the other day about how they grew to $50K in monthly recurring revenue. So I'm starting to look. There's a lot of people who have done it before and they put out a lot of content and they basically show you the playbook on how to grow your SaaS company to like $50K or to $100K in MRR. And then there's like, hey, here's had to go from, you know, 1,000 customers to 10,000 customers. So there's a lot of content already out there that's showing you the playbook. Anyway, I was reading this article from Groove and they were talking about how they grew to $50K in MRR and a few things that they were doing in the early days.
It's working, Chris, it's working!
To get them to those metrics. And one of the things that they were doing, um, obviously is their blog. So they basically spent and like revamped and spent a lot of resources creating content.
Okay, technically you do one for me.
Putting out really, really, really good blog articles and things like that. And the other thing that they did was a lot of like PR and press and stuff like that. And we just did one, we literally only got like one article out, but we got a bunch of leads from it. So the thing that, you know, we're going to be focusing on for the next like, call it 3 to 6 weeks, is continuing to, you know, pump press and that momentum. The thing is like there's only a few good times to actually get press, cuz like when you actually have a story that the press gives a shit about.
Dodson, we've got Dodson here! See, nobody cares.
Cuz the press knows things that get clicks and eyeballs, and that's how they make their money. So like you got to think of it from their perspective? What are you gonna give them? Are you gonna give them a story that then they're gonna be able to put out, and then they're gonna get eyeballs, that then they're gonna be able to make ad revenue from?
Extra, extra, read all about it! Me and that pleb were in trouble again! Extra, extra!
So anyway, right now we need to kind of like ride this momentum of the press. Like, we got this one article, boop! Anyway, so that got us like a bunch of these leads, because the thing is, like, our target audience is following this kind of like news and stuff like that. Even if they didn't organically stumble upon this article, they'll be in these like private Facebook groups and things like that, and then someone would like post the article, be like, hey guys, this is interesting, I saw this today, this is in our space, has anyone tried this product? And then people will comment on it. So like what was happening is we're getting a bunch of inbound traffic from this, from people who have either stumbled upon it or people that have been recipients of it being shared with them and things like that. So I want to, you know, kind of go hard on that and just like hit little press, 'cause there's little stories though for different outlets. Like our one article on like TechCrunch is like this fundraising story, but you know, we could do, for instance, like another article more for like a Business Insider that's like talking about the vlog and how like we like vlogged our way to a seed round of funding or something like that, right? And you can kind of like give them these little angles that, uh, depending on the outlet, like they're going to take the story. So ultimately at the end of the day, press should be for lead gen. It shouldn't be for, you know, lead gen and then also like, um, legitimacy. If someone's just Googling you, doing a brand search and they're not searching for your product, but just searching about your company, they're going to stumble upon these like high PageRank articles. By the way, it's also going to help with backlinking, which is going to help with SEO as well. At the end of the day, it also establishes credibility and that sort of thing when people are like looking up about your company. That is what we're going to focus on, um, and on our journey $100K in MRR by the end of 2018, which is the goal.
My goal is not to wake up at 40 with the bitter realization that I've wasted my life in a job I hate because I was forced to decide on a career in my teens.
Really transparent with you guys about where we're at and everything. So if you guys have any questions or if you like want to know where we're at, just like hit me up and we can do it for you. Peace.
