Ryan Shank breaks down why a cold call from Manoj failed: Manoj had seconds to hook him but never identified Ryan's pain points or explained why the call mattered. A successful cold call must surface a specific problem, like needing more leads or scaling a sales team, and propose an immediate solution.

All right guys, so I got a note from, from a guy, Manoj. He actually called me, he cold-called me. So he connected with me on LinkedIn, then he sent me a message, then he cold-called me. And, and I didn't take his call. I mean, I answered the phone, but I told him like, look, I don't know what you're offering. And I told him to like, he's like, oh, I'm a subscriber. And I was like, well, comment on my YouTube channel if you're a subscriber, and then we can talk in the comments there. Because I wanted him to like engage the community. And then he commented, he's like, he commented on one of my videos where I talked about how you need to like really add value in order for someone to give you their time. Like time is our one time is a finite resource. We don't get it, we don't get it back, right? And it's something that like, you know, money can't buy time. So commented, he's like, hey, even though I called you and you didn't give me time, what I responded to him is like, you need a better hook. Like, I didn't understand the value that he was, he was creating or that he was offering me when he, when he called me. It's like, you get like 5 seconds, 5 seconds, right, to say your hook, to add the value. So it's like, he needed to figure out my pain point. I think he was like, I don't even know what he was selling. That's how like irrelevant it was to me. And it's like, it didn't even resonate at all. He needs to figure out what my pain point is and then offer me a solution to that pain point. Really, really quickly so that I at least want to then listen to him and give him time. So that's the thing is like when you call into someone, it's like you get such a small amount of time. If you don't either like resonate with the pain point that they're having, then offer them a solution right there, you're not even gonna get the chance to pitch your product, to pitch your service and that sort of thing. So do that really, really quickly, but you have to know some pain that they're having. If he knows like what I'm going through right now, it's like I'm trying to get like more leads or systems in place. I'm trying to hire and scale out like the sales team and like things like that. Like that's what I'm going through. I have no idea what he was even selling. Couldn't even tell you. But that's the takeaway for today. I did like that he commented. So we printed this out. He commented on one of the YouTube videos. So he's now engaging with the community, with the channel. So that's pretty cool. But other than that, I'm not really sure what he was offering.
