I forgot the Speedo!
This thing is—
this thing's a lot.
Alright guys, we are about to go to the beach. Hold on, but we need to—
is this gonna be— this is gonna be for today's then? This is for Labor Day's. I want to time travel to the beach. Oh, for Labor Day's, like Labor Day's. Today? For Monday, the vlog that goes up on Wednesday. I forgot my Speedo. This is the process that goes into the vlog, creating the vlog, guys.
We're like, I'm gonna coordinate. We're doing intros, we're doing outros, we do climaxes. We think about the thumbnail, the title. We got to have that clickbait, gotta get the views up. We're putting up a video right now. It's kind of like just like a short 2-minute video, a little inspirational, just something that we were like thinking through. We're gonna go to the beach, we're gonna get sick footage. It's Labor Day, we're out here, we're going to Sagaponack Beach, and we're gonna take you guys along with us. So if you guys are new here, my name is Ryan Shank. This is our journey. It's our journey through life, our journey through building Phone Wagon.
We do it every single day.
You can see literally Labor Day, sitting there chopping it up. We do it every single day, 7 days a week. And we're out here, okay? Appreciate you guys following along the journey. If you're new here, hit that subscribe button, turn notifications on, let us know your thoughts on everything, engage in the comments. We love hearing from you. We talk about every single comment. It's awesome. And at the end of the day, hope you guys are out there— look at that cattail— hope you guys are out there working hard, being pioneers, being wagonneers. Welcome to the vlog. But in a second, there's just gonna be ocean.
That's how—
that's how we do now. So time traveling to the beach. Oh, whoa, whoa, whoa. So we just time traveled. We're here, we're here at the beach. Thank God we didn't have to travel here, so that was awesome. So So Kane just arrived. Kane has all the gear and everything, so we're gonna go and we're just gonna have a day. Happy Labor Day.
Peace!
Guys, so we're just watching these guys play cornhole while we're sitting here.
It's like unbelievable.
You have that view and that view. Happy Labor Day!
Where's the car?
Vlog you just saw, Sunday, that was pretty cool. Actually, it was Monday, it was Labor Day. Hope you don't mind just having some lunch mid-video. I just wanted to record this really quick. I talked a little bit yesterday.
Oh my God, hold on.
Unbelievable. Basically what I was talking about yesterday is how you should like basically allocate your time on the things that matter the most. I think it's too easy to basically like go after shiny objects or things that you like enjoy doing, which like there was I guess an argument that it's like you should only do what you love and only do things that you enjoy doing. But a lot of times you're not going to enjoy, you know, the beginning of something, getting it going, training, you know, tweaking it. Maybe you do enjoy it. I enjoy like the process of things like that. But, um, for me what was happening was I was just like spending too much of my time on the vlog, whereas like, you know, we're not getting a ton. So I view the vlog as like this long late. Like, this is like a year, 2 years out where, you know, then people are gonna like discover it. People come in and out.
They'll watch like a few videos.
They'll dive out, you know, dive back in. But the biggest thing that I like to be able to do is I like to just be able to point to it. And if you can just point to anything that you do in your life that you do consistently, I think it's a muscle that then is gonna translate over into other parts of your life, whether it's personal, whether it's business, whether you eat healthy all the time, whether you go to the gym all the time, whether you, you know, do something. But if you just do something consistently, it's gonna— you know, it just basically is that repetition, the power of habit. So anyway, being able to like point to the vlog, that's like basically the thing that I like doing. Obviously we're getting people that are starting to follow it. They're either discovering us through it or they're, you know, once they discover us through another way, then they're converting inside of it. But I was spending too much of my time there, whereas like I feel like right now it's to a point where I can trust Kane to be able to like kind of basically film the content. I can spend 10 to 15 minutes a day now recording like these little videos, these little cut videos, kind of pass it over to them. Like I don't need to be like answering questions or going back and forth, you know. I want to make sure that the content is good inside of it, but at the end of the day, uh, you have to like trust your team to like kind of take areas that are like sort of either like working or they're at a place where you're, you're kind kind of comfortable with, or at least you're— it's like, hey, it's fine. Um, I need to then spend my time right now on other things that are like not where they need to be. Um, like basically like our inbound marketing. So this, this week I'm getting a referral program up with Get Ambassador. I talked to CEO yesterday, super excited about that. We're doing some integration stuff with some landing page, Landing Lion, and some other, other companies. Talked to the CEO this morning for like an hour and a half, had an awesome conversation. We have like same customers. We're doing email drips now on sequences. We're blasting out like 800 a day. And then we have— so all of that stuff that we weren't doing, like that's where I need to be focused right now, not on this like shiny object, like, oh, videos, vlog, like, that's cool, but that's not really what's going to get us, uh, money in the door. And by the way, today we already have 2 paying customers and it's only like 12 o'clock or 12:30. So we're starting to, like, starting to see things because we were in this, like, weird rut where the past, like, the past 2 weeks we've only added, like, $200-something in net new MRR, which is weird because before that we were adding $800, $1,200, $1,100 in net new MRR on a weekly basis. We still were up, you know, from August to, uh, to July. July we added, like, $2,700. August we added $3,500 in net new MRR. So we're still up and growing and stuff, and we're also doing some, some changes and stuff. But it's like I needed to just kind of take a step back, allocate my time basically to things where, you know, I feel like are going to have the most bang for my buck. And you should always be thinking about that. In the video I recorded a couple days ago, it's like when you're looking at those like massive houses and you're sort of doing like vision boards and you're saying like, all right, to achieve literally like this level of like wealth and stuff, like I need to do— I need to stop like kicking the tires and doing things that don't matter. And you're just like, you need to— every second counts. Because like you don't want to get that money when you're like 90 years old and you're like in a fucking wheelchair. It's like you want to be able to like be able to enjoy it when you're like healthy and stuff. That's I was doing like yesterday and what I'm starting to do today is like stop like spending time on like the shiny objects, which is easy to do, and start spending time on things that matter. So I'm gonna eat this like Hu Kitchen stuff and I'm gonna let you guys go.
See ya!
