In this behind‑the‑scenes vlog, Ryan Shank announces a major upgrade to his video production setup and outlines the new direction for his vlog series. He explains that he is moving from a Sony RX100 to a Canon 80D, adding a lavalier microphone, dedicated lighting, and a custom backdrop to create a small studio space in his office. He describes the physical layout, including lighting placement, a backdrop, and decorative “fathead” props, and notes that the office space costs $6,000 per month (discounted to $3,800 for the first three months). Ryan details his team composition—himself, Hannah, several interns, two account executives (AEs), and SDRs—and mentions collaborators like Mike, Rod, and Jim. He provides a sales update, revealing a new German forwarding‑number client paying over $1,000 per month and a goal to generate roughly $350 per day for the next eight days to meet monthly targets. Finally, he outlines the Season 2 vlog format: a more tactical, authentic style with less vlog‑like time‑lapse production, focusing on concise, real‑time insights rather than heavily edited content.

I know what you guys are thinking, you want me to get better audio. I'm going to, I'm getting a new camera tonight. I'm currently shooting on the Sony RX100. We're getting a Canon 80D. We're gonna get a lav mic. Let me show you what we're setting up right now. We're setting up like a kind of like a little studio. I'm gonna create like a sick like backdrop thing. So it's gonna be like in our office, but then I'm gonna like have this little area. Whoa, this is true behind-the-scenes stuff. Okay, so basically we're gonna have that there. I'm gonna have lighting like back here, and then I'm gonna create like a sick like backdrop right there. So you'll have, it'll be like a little studio. Studio right there. I'm gonna talk and then I'm gonna give my thoughts. I'm gonna put like one of those. So we basically got these fatheads. I'm gonna put it like up here like that. Oh, whoa, not like that. But I'm basically gonna put it like there. So it's gonna be like that head behind here, then this little thing, and then I'm gonna talk there. We're gonna have like me, then Hannah, and then like 1, 2, 3 interns. Then this is gonna be like for Mike, or, or maybe like a Rod or Jim or whatever. Uh, so they're gonna be going in. But anyway, I hate the audio on this camera. Like, it like picks up— it tries to pick up like too much sound. Um, and then I feel like it like buzzes or like hisses and stuff. Anyway, so this is gonna be kind of like this little— this is gonna be the new format. So we're not gonna do like overly like vlogs. So this is our office, by the way. It's this room in here. It's pretty cool. That table, some fatheads. But this is like $6K a month, which is like pretty expensive, but we're getting it for— we're basically getting it for $3,800 for the first 3 months. So we're probably gonna leave after that and, uh, and just shop around, or like just hop, hop around, shop around. Anyway, so I wanted to put out a video today, uh, that's just kind of like a quick update. So like, again, we're kind of like planning it. I told you season 2 2 is about to drop, so this is kind of just like behind the scenes as we're like building and starting to create like the new stuff. I figure like might as well just let you guys in on exactly what we're doing, uh, today by the way. So we were like super behind on the month, uh, and then last night I've been talking to these guys who wanted to come on board. They came on board for $1,000, over $1,000 a month, and that's still a pilot, and then they're going to test it out. It's their, uh, it's a German like forwarding number. They're using one of our competitors right now, but they have a ton of like minutes and they want to switch over to us. So that's literally like salvaging our month right now, but we're chasing basically $350 per day for the next 8 days to salvage the month. So like we're scrambling right now, uh, but I think we can do it. We have 2 AEs, uh, which we've never had 2 AEs before, plus me, plus putting out content, plus we have all these SDRs, so which are setting the demos and everything. So I think it's gonna happen. But anyway, back to this. This is the new setup that we're kind of like, uh, going for right now. And I'm gonna give you guys just like a lot of insight. We're gonna— the vlogs are back, right? And even though I'm actually gonna do it less like vloggy style, I think I just said that earlier, but it's gonna be more just Hey, here's like, you know, tactically some stuff that we're doing or just like this where it's like, hey, this is just kind of like what's going on. It's not gonna be this like whole day, like time lapse and things like that. Like overly produced. Just like super authentic. Like this is just what's going on. So anyway, anyway, I hope you guys are out there working. I appreciate you following along by the way. Season 2 of the vlog is back. Summer '18. I hope you guys are out there working hard. Being pioneers, being wagoners. Peace!
